to believe H&M because of defamation laws?

I've watched the full series on Harry and Meghan.
A few things have struck me.
The most important thing is that there are defamation laws in England. Damage to your reputation is grounds for pursuing such a case. That no such case has yet been initiated by William or Kate, suggests that there is truth in Harry and Meghan's version of events.
Meghan comes across as very vulnerable but very real. She also comes across as very much in love still; as does Harry.
I admire Harry for his decision to leave. I do buy his logic; if the tax payer had even 1% of a contribution to their lives financially, the media could then claim a public interest.
Harry comes across as incredibly intelligent. He has always been touted as the dumb one. He seems to be very much more than some dumb guy.
He adores Meghan and that seems to be reciprocated. She gave him an out.

Harry is very much is mother's son. Diana would have supported Meghan I think. I think they were kindred spirits (Diana and Harry) in a way. Pawns in the game where the king and queen reign...

I wouldn't say that in real life. If anyone said to me 'I'm a big Meghan' I'd internally mark them down as somewhat of a twat

Same tbh. Although I don’t think they’re both narcissistic. I think H is self-absorbed and spoiled, but it’s not the same thing. M is the originator of all the grandiose, implausible stories that centre around her being the bravest, most vulnerable changemaker and saviour of the needy.

but that’s just my read on them, having watched it. The show was intended to get people talking and watching. Now they’ve confirmed they’ve run out of big revelatory royal tea and will never get any more, they might be forced to live a more normal, productive life.

Strange, I thought he came across like a brainwashed, self-obsessed, grandiose twat who takes himself far too seriously.

Verbosity.

And if she thinks this caused her miscarriage. She could be right or she could be wrong. But the royal family could equally come back and say the stress caused the death of the queen.... because no one can prove either one!

It's totally for tat and very boring now

Thefriendlyone · 16/12/2022 07:33

You kind of lost me at harry seems incredibly intelligent. Not being rude to the guy but clearly he doesn’t.

the royals won’t sue harry for defamation. Christ they don’t even publicly comment. Can you imagine them taking their own son/brother to court for defamation, that would never happen and harry knows it.

UseAMuckySock · 16/12/2022 07:33

I think William is jealous of Harry.
Harry has married a beautiful intelligent woman with an actual personality. They’re allowed to have fun and they’re free.

Lets be honest, Kate/Catherine (whatever) has the personality of a goldfish. She NEVER looks happy, he probably didn’t even have much choice in marrying her, like his father she was probably presented to him as “suitable wife material”. There is zero chemistry between them, Christ they look like they can’t stand each other half the time - just like Charles and Diana. And again just like his father, he’s been shagging around behind her back. Has anyone ever seen George smile when he hasn’t been told to for a photo shoot? He’s the most miserable looking kid ever.
Id be jealous of Harry too if I was William.

Cheesecheeserson · 16/12/2022 07:34

Shejustwentthere · 16/12/2022 07:03

To be fair, marrying into that institution cost her her career, her family and almost her life (unless you think that she's lying about feeling suicidal?).

i think vague suicide threats to manipulate people and play the victim is classic cluster B personality disorder.

anyolddinosaur · 16/12/2022 07:35

The Royal Family very rarely sue and despite everything Harry is still part of their family. He knows they will not sue him and that is why he can say what he likes without risk of being bankrupt. Bit I doubt Daddy will be putting his hand in his pocket for them again.

Poor Harry, never been the brightest spark.

I suspect the RF are just letting them get on with the nonsense and are keeping a dignified silence for many a rain.

But I’m also reminded of the sayings that goes something along the lines of be careful who you wrestle with - good manners prevent me for posting it in its entirety.

YellowTreeHouse · 16/12/2022 07:35

Harry and Meghan are selfish, entitled, rude, lack any self or social awareness and very nasty to their families.

They should be ashamed of themselves, but they lack the self awareness, so instead the world is ashamed for them.

They’re also liars, and they’ve played you like a fiddle, OP.

Got that from the documentary did you? It’s a pack of lies. Kate met William at St Andrews University. She was doing a charity fashion show and caught his eye walking the cat walk in a see through dress. She wasn’t presented to him as wife material. They dated for years before deciding to marry. They are nothing like Charles and Diana.

He was clever enough to get out when he could.

He was never allowed to speak really. When he does speak, he doesn't come across as an idiot; quite the opposite. He also come across as very empathetic.

I would not envy Meghan having to live up to Diana's memory for Harry. She's his Mum and he adored her. She was only 36 when she died. He was 12?

They had such a weird upbringing. I guess that's why William and Kate protect their children fiercely too. That intrusion must be horrendous. Never knowing when some prat is going to be taking a photo. I wouldn't leave the house!

I suppose they should be thankful that they're not being hung for treason 🤔

Hanged. Pictures are hung , people are hanged.

Imthegingerbreadwoman · 16/12/2022 07:38

Also I don't think Harry has ever been expected to be anything like William. He was quite free anyway as he isn't going to be the king of England. He had a lot of freedom for someone in the Royal family. I mean he wasn't kept locked up when he was living it up at uni and so on. He just decided this after meghan came along. Actually William and Kate would do what they liked before they married too. They have had some freedom. But no one has 100% freedom as everyone has various responsibilities!

liarliarshortsonfire · 16/12/2022 07:38

I think M came across as very fake and rehearsed. The only time I think I genuinely say he laugh was when she was talking about her curtesy. H came across more genuine, but that's because he believes in what he says.

The documentary was designed to illicit responses such as the one by the OP, so it's done its job.

My opinion is that it was biased, and they are hypocrites.

HoppingPavlova · 16/12/2022 07:38

Not true. They would never initiate such a thing irrespective as it’s simply not done with the RF. The ‘never complain, never explain’ way of getting on with things.

FestiveAF · 16/12/2022 07:38

I have very few strong opinions on anyone famous or otherwise. I’m very much live and let live. These two however come across as possibly the most pathetic people I have ever had the displeasure of being forced upon me. Bugger off to America. Live your lives away from the media and STFU. Never darken the doors of the media again and force yourselves into every inch of my social media. You are choosing to take your children away from their family, who quite frankly seem like perfectly pleasant individuals all things considered. I have never heard such entitled shite in all my life. The End.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 16/12/2022 07:39

I don’t blame them for wanting an out, the way they have been treated is diabolical and she has been vilified by the media to such an extent no one should have to endure that intrusion into their lives.

They didn’t want to leave their roles, they were forced to due to the media making Megan a literal black sheep, to cover for other royal’s atrocious behaviours!

ElizabethCaroline18 · 16/12/2022 07:39

I hope the royal family continue to keep quiet and not comment on this documentary. It's a family argument, I couldn't care less if they argued or they didn't like each other or someone said something they didn't like. That's families and life, nothing to do with the public role. If H+M didn't want to be part of the royals then leave (which they did) but don't take everyone else down with you. They need to just move on now because I'm sick of hearing about it.

They come across as a pair of over-privileged, attention-seeking wastes of space, to be quite frank.

This.

If Harry ever wanted to return to the UK now, he has made it so much harder for himself.

I hope his married life in the US is genuinely happy because he has made himself a cringingly embarrassing laughing stock. There is no excuse. He cannot claim to be a damaged boy. He is a mature man. At some point in a person's life they have to stop blaming their parents and take responsibility for their own behaviour.

As for legal action, defamation is for WAGS and B list celebrities. The Royal Family wouldn't credit his public whining with a reply. Too distasteful.

Goodadvice1980 · 16/12/2022 07:11

They are a pair of whiny, ungrateful & over-indulged narcs who probably caused the late Queen a great deal of upset in her final years.

I agree with this

In so many of these threads, there is no thinking. Posters just repeat what they heard and take it as fact! As a skeptic, I find it a bit fascinating.

I find it fascinating that there is no middle ground particularly amongst those who see M as the antichrist. Of course they are spoilt & entitled, most rich people are, particularly royalty!
Obviously there is their truth, the other sides truth & the real truth is somewhere in the middle but feelings & emotions get in the way. However in terms of what they have actually done the outrage is disproportionate imo.
It's so weird that some see the Royals as their personal soap drama or even as part of their family, but I guess that's why they still exist in this form.
