to believe H&M because of defamation laws?

I've watched the full series on Harry and Meghan.
A few things have struck me.
The most important thing is that there are defamation laws in England. Damage to your reputation is grounds for pursuing such a case. That no such case has yet been initiated by William or Kate, suggests that there is truth in Harry and Meghan's version of events.
Meghan comes across as very vulnerable but very real. She also comes across as very much in love still; as does Harry.
I admire Harry for his decision to leave. I do buy his logic; if the tax payer had even 1% of a contribution to their lives financially, the media could then claim a public interest.
Harry comes across as incredibly intelligent. He has always been touted as the dumb one. He seems to be very much more than some dumb guy.
He adores Meghan and that seems to be reciprocated. She gave him an out.

Harry is very much is mother's son. Diana would have supported Meghan I think. I think they were kindred spirits (Diana and Harry) in a way. Pawns in the game where the king and queen reign...

Harry comes across as extremely intelligent??? That's the funniest thing I've read so far

Iwanttoslowdown · 16/12/2022 07:42

OP I agree with you - they were in this toxic machine in the Firm. The machine fed them to the press as if they were spares. This was and is an abusive relationship that were it in real life then we would all be clutching our pearls saying LEAVE or go NC. However because Meghans a Hollywood actress, or confident, or mixed race or a combination of all of this nobody has any compassion. And because Harry has been cut off financially they got to do something and what has he got? He’s got his story, his status and background to make his way. Can you begin to imagine the security costs they have each year. And plus his mum did it so why not him? What else are they meant to do.

Yep, 1998. Treason and Piracy.

That's mental! Piracy? Was that like invasions of ships by pirates?

They are a pair of whiny, ungrateful & over-indulged narcs who probably caused the late Queen a great deal of upset in her final years.

what more than Andrew? seriously?

FerretInAFrock · 16/12/2022 07:44

When H & M run out of the Netflix money they’ll be cap in hand to Charles or William for more ( whether to fund M’s campaign to be President or more Hermès Knick-knacks) but they have bitten the hand that feeds them.

Got that from the documentary did you? It’s a pack of lies. Kate met William at St Andrews University. She was doing a charity fashion show and caught his eye walking the cat walk in a see through dress. She wasn’t presented to him as wife material. They dated for years before deciding to marry. They are nothing like Charles and Diana.

No I didn’t get it from the documentary - I’ve always thought the pair of them look tense and unhappy together. Especially Kate.

Maybe they did fall in love initially but are no longer happy but god forbid they be allowed to admit it and divorce. They’re trapped together and it shows.

sst1234 · 16/12/2022 07:44

OP you seem very naive. Do you believe everything you see on reality tv shows? Do you thing Big Brother is real?

Virginiaplain · 16/12/2022 07:45

I wouldn’t trash my family warts and all in the full publicity of the globe.
I had a less than happy childhood but I don’t publicise it for money and attention. I discuss it occasionally with siblings - however if I could make millions off the back of it………

Thefriendlyone · 16/12/2022 07:45

think William is jealous of Harry.Harry has married a beautiful intelligent woman with an actual personality. They’re allowed to have fun and they’re free.

I think it’s the opposite to be honest, I think that’s the fundamental root cause of this, both harry and Meghan were jealous of William and Kate and what they saw as preferential treatment.

the fact that harry was always the spare. They got less better living accommodation, less better everything, harry had less say in decisions, Kate is very popular with the public, I genuinely believe that’s what is at rhe very base of this, they were envious of William and Kate and wanted to be equal or more important, be celebs and socialise with a listers. They didn’t want to be the second best.

i think it’s always been an issue for many royal “spares” to find their place in what they do, we saw it with Margaret, Andrew, Edward, history shows us time and time again they struggle becuase their sibling is the important one. Gets the preferential treatment.

generally spares don’t even get their own office it would come from the future monarchs staff , but harry and Meghan were given their own as they kicked off.

i really hope William and Kate get ir right with Charlotte and Louis, or we will see in a couple of decades similar issues arising as to what they do.

these kids get raised in the shadow of their sibling. And it needs some strong parenting to make them feel equal and no favouritism.

I think the one A level pass in Art (that it later transpired he got his teacher to do the coursework for) is a big clue 😂

They’ll be divorced by then. Harry back with his tail between his legs. And Meghan moves on with the showbiz now that people actually know her.

Unifolorn · 16/12/2022 07:46

I've watched all of the episodes (time I'll never get back but wanting to see for myself rather than basing opinion on the thoughts of others).

Personally I don't think they said anything earth shattering that would get to court. I suspect most siblings in Williams postion would have shouted, big whoop. Harry also has a temper on him, plenty of photos online of him losing it (including kicking his horse at polo); I raised an eyebrow when this war veteran (well, quarter of a tour x 2) was terrified by this bother shouting. The other things they claim involve Diana who isn't here (will they not let her rest in peace) or are vague enough or dressed up to not be direct but implied.

It's all boring now, they're still having a tantrum years on because they weren't able to have the best of both worlds half in and half out, they have nothing new to say and most of what they do say is the 3rd version of 'their truth'.

I agree she was treated abhorently by the press, most of the public find the tabloids trash though and I can't say they represent the voice of the people. Sure, some British people are racist not denying that, but you can dislike someone without it being down to their skin. Harry needs therapy to get over the death of his mother and stop letting people exploit that vulnerability, and I suspect meghan wants to break free so she can pursue her continued quest for money and infamy.

Shejustwentthere · 16/12/2022 07:46

I think that one of the more telling interactions actually was at the beginning of ep 5 I think? Archie is toddling around a maze and Harry is encouraging him and then he topples over and Harry is like 'yes, get up, carry on' sort of thing and the little tot starts to cry and Meghan immediately picks him up to console him. I think it was a very real dynamic. Parents are like that.

I genuinely am a bullshitter detector. I don't get 'bullshit' from either of them. Ok, her language and her way of expressing herself is very American, but she's not lying.

I too admire Harry for leaving if that's what he really wanted. I think people in the UK (and the press) would have been supportive if he wanted to leave public life and just enjoy his family. The tabloid press are horrendous, we all know that and they're right to call out the racism, of course.
But enough already, everyone's mean and you're hard done by, we get it.
I'm not sure what they're hoping to achieve, we all know 'their truth'....now what?
With every media appearance and interview they are backing themselves (and their children) further into a corner but they just don't seem to see it. The lack of self awareness is staggering.

Exactly this! I feel bad for them and do feel the media had a target for her, but at the same time move on. You left, you are starting a new life and wanted to be with your family so be with them and find another way to live then revisiting the same mantra again and again!

Thefriendlyone · 16/12/2022 07:48

Op there are proven lies. I think your bullshitter detector has been bedazzled by the sad music and daily mail faces..

CrownTheTurkey · 16/12/2022 07:48

They went on Oprah and stamped their feet.
He wrote a book and stamped his feet.
Then they went on netflix and stamped their feet.
Anymore foot stamping and they'll need orthopedic boots.

Not true. They would never initiate such a thing irrespective as it’s simply not done with the RF. The ‘never complain, never explain’ way of getting on with things

that's BS though, the royals engage in just as much propaganda as H&M. Hence the articles from Royal sources or aides etc.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 16/12/2022 07:48

The vitriol haters for Megan is what astounds me, she has been vilified since marrying into the family but apparently she should just shut up and put up and be “British” for the lies, racism and public hatred of her . honestly sometimes people NEED to remember that she’s a not a robot and has feelings.

A woman speaking about enduring such public outrage to the point she felt suicidal becomes her being “weak” it’s absolutely mind blowing! Tbh.

What about William and Kate? Are they wastes of space?

Charles and Camilla? I've seen more personality emanate from a box of tampons.

I see what you did there, did you see what you did?

DonnaDonna0 · 16/12/2022 07:50

Are you American OP?

piedbeauty · 16/12/2022 07:50

@Shejustwentthere - Woe betide the man who dates me and expects me to obey some sort of family traditions, in contradiction of who I am fundamentally, when I meet his family! That would the end of that relationship.

It's a bit different comparing your meeting a bf's family to Meghan meeting the RF, can't you see that?

If Meghan felt that way, she would've have dated Harry at all. If she had any intelligence, common sense or nous, she would have known exactly what she was getting into. And Harry should have briefed her too. If he didn't, he's an idiot.

Imthegingerbreadwoman · 16/12/2022 07:50

10 years from now I can see them divorced and a new netflix documentary where she claims Harry abused her and forced her to do the original documentary. Etc etc
