To ask how many loads of laundry a week is normal!?

hugznotdrugz · 24/11/2022 13:35

I seem to have a never ending of stream of laundry!

In a week I end to do: 3-4 loads of clothes, 1 load of towels and 2 loads of sheets.

Family of 4!

Is this a normal amount? Is there a way to make it more economical? I'm looking at my energy tracker today and getting annoyed with how much I've spent just because of the laundy

I do a load a day - I mix clothes and towels I do not care. GrinBlush
Then on weekends I wash bedding.

So about 9 loads a week, that sounds crazy now I've written that down for a family of 4!

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 24/11/2022 13:39

There's no normal but as posters on here are obsessed with laundry I'm sure you'll get lots of replies with all kinds of details

This comes up so often it's like there's an army of laundrty trolls 😂

ThreeblackCats · 24/11/2022 13:43

That sounds very normal for a family of 4 . One load a day for four is hardly groundbreaking.

Try to wear jeans, sweaters, hoodies etc for more than a few days, obviously undies, socks etc need to be changed daily. Even just using one towel each you will have a load or two (dependent on towel size) each week.
Economy or quick wash helps but drying is hard if you avoid tumble drying.

Not long and it will be spring and outdoor clothes drying….🥴 only about 90 days.

Legallypinkish · 24/11/2022 13:43

4 of us. I do about 3 loads a week. Towels just go in with the regular washing and I don’t change beds weekly, probably every 3 weeks or so.

SheWoreARaspberryBeret123 · 24/11/2022 13:45

About 2 a day!

We do an astonishing amount of laundry. Never ceases to amaze me. I worked it out recently and I think we do a minimum of 12 a week and sometimes as many as 16. We do have extra laundry due to DH's work, but even without that, we'd still be looking at 10-14. It's RIDICULOUS.

About this

Tryingtokeepgoing · 24/11/2022 13:54

Well, since my husband died I do three loads a week generally, but that’s just for me. Coloureds, whites and sheets. Rowles will go in with whites or sheets depending how I’m feeling!

This can't be serious! We must be real mingers then, 4 loads a week for two of us.

How often do you have to replace your washing machines??

About once every 4 months, bathroom suites are the same expect toilets which we replace monthly

Can never be too sure about keeping things clean!

MadeInChorley · 24/11/2022 13:56

I do a lot of laundry! I’d say three loads a day. There’s 5 of us in the house, but that’s including one very sweaty gym bunny and two DCs training 3-4 times a week for a swimming club (the towels!) plus a rugby player (muddy kit). I change the DC’s bed linen fortnightly (ours weekly) and do not wash clothes after one wear unless they are soiled or it’s underwear, but can’t seem to get it down. There’s always loads of dirty washing to do.

Squeezedsquash · 24/11/2022 13:56

Family of 5. Two bedwetters. On average a couple of loads a day (small capacity washing machine).

Marigoldandivy · 24/11/2022 13:59

Presumably you also shower 6 times a day and re-decorate every second Thursday. 😂😂😂😂😂

I see 😆

clarrylove · 24/11/2022 14:00

Family of 4, about 3 loads a week. Same as posters above.

Sunshineismyfriend · 24/11/2022 14:00

Around 4. For a family of 4 so I guess one load per week per person although I don’t wash each persons individually. I do two loads of darks, one whites and one bedding and towels.

OceanbreezeSun · 24/11/2022 14:02

About 4 times a week - family of 3.

towels and bed sheets together.

Dd clothes x2 a week
Dh and mine go together.

Sometimes do an extra wash if we have whites/light colours.

Always seem to have a small pile of laundry waiting to be washed.

NightOwl101 · 24/11/2022 14:03

I presume you're joking like the other poster above? If you're not perhaps have a hard think about energy, water, electricity, you know, all that stuff.

Flapjackquack · 24/11/2022 14:04

Family of 3 (2 adults and a toddler), 3 loads of clothes a week, 1 towel load, 1 bedding load.

Lostatseawithnolighthouse · 24/11/2022 14:05

I live alone and do about 2 a week. Sometimes 3. That's for clothes, towels and bedding.

andymary · 24/11/2022 14:06

House of Two -
2 loads of clothes washing per week.
with approx 2 extra loads per month for bedding and blankets.

CuddlyRita · 24/11/2022 14:08

Why do people wash towels and bedding separately?
