would you quit Amazon prime because of it?
YABU= you have/will quit Amazon prime because of this
YANBU = you will not quit.

I don't need a much larger music catalogue!!
I only want to hear some favourite song I choose.
I used to use amazon to play nursery song for my 3 years old DC who already like to choose songs.

I already have a google dot, it was a gift, but I can't play songs on demand.
so I bought a kid echo because of it last year.
now I can't do this anymore!!
The kid echo can do nothing now!
really angry.

mostly I like amazon prime for the next-day delivery and the music.
I am not using other things.

I am thinking to quit Amazon prime. saving £9 per month!

I am not very into song listening but would like to know if other companies with a reasonable price for on-demand songs. I use it mainly for nursery songs. lol
and able to download some songs for offline use, ie in underground.
Thanks

I quit Amazon Prime because of it. They asked why - twice - on the leaving form. I said what they had done to Prime music was criminal and the only reason why I was leaving.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 16/11/2022 17:54

I found this yesterday when I played a song and asked the dot to repeat it. She declined my request. We subscribe to Deezer and so I asked for the same song from there and she refused to repeat it too! Sod you then, Alexa, I will just connect my phone to my speaker and bypass you altogether 😡

skyeisthelimit · 16/11/2022 17:56

I was on the £4.99 Amazon music package but I quit yesterday and signed up to Spotify instead. My daughter uses it more than I do, but I use it in the car, and used to shuffle so it wasn't identical songs every time, and skip ones I didn't fancy.

They removed the shuffle, you can only skip 6 times, and they insert music "similar to you choice that you might like to listen to". To stop them adding other artists you need to upgrade to a more expensive package.

Bye!

I have seen hundreds of posts on social media about how unhappy everyone is with these changes and they are voting with their feet.

I will still have Amazon Prime, so will have an element of free music and podcasts etc.

Amazon Music have made a huge mistake.

ItsRainingCatsAndDogsAgain · 16/11/2022 17:57

We have a free trial at the moment and now won't be renewing because of this change.

NippyWoowoo · 16/11/2022 18:02

Omg yes I HATE it! It was sold as 'more music available with shuffle mode' and the reality was 'less music available to just hit play'.

I'm so used to next day delivery that I don't know if I'd be able to cancel just yet...I do occasionally watch some shows on prime but I watch Netflix a lot more.

I've also just ended a 4 1/2 week battle with them over their 'spread the cost over £100' baskets. I wasn't able to purchase on finance despite checking and rechecking that all the criteria of the shopping cart were met and they couldn't tell me why, but it was dragged out with lots of back and forth and condescending replies.

Finally they settle it with a gift card to the value of the basket.

Phew, sorry for that rant!

AGreatUsername · 16/11/2022 18:06

I’m so annoyed about this too! The telly side of it has gone rubbish too and £99 seems a lot for some free deliveries.

Elphame · 16/11/2022 18:10

I wish they'd just offer a free delivery version as I'd sign up to that although it's rare for me to pay delivery as I don't mind waiting a few days.

I don't have a TV and none of the media offerings are of any interest to me so it's not great value for money.

whiteroseredrose · 16/11/2022 18:20

To be honest I never use the music as I'm not interested. Prime TV very occasionally.

The fee is worth it for me, just for the Prime deliveries, anything else is a bonus.

I like the Photo storage so that would keep me if nothing else.

whiteroseredrose · 16/11/2022 18:22

How much has it gone up? It was £79 a year just for deliveries when I signed up donkey's years ago.

user16480478 · 16/11/2022 18:24

I don't use the music as I have Apple Music but find it worth it for the delivery and Prime Video

1001Daffodils · 16/11/2022 18:32

Please complain properly. The more people who complain directly to Amazon the more likely it is they'll reverse the decision.

I'm livid because the restriction also applies to music you've bought through Amazon.

In my complaint I've made it perfectly clear I'll leave as a Prime customer if this isn't fixed.

Namenic · 16/11/2022 18:43

This is why I am highly suspicious of subscription services. I would rather own a track or movie so I can watch it when I want. Sometimes I fancy watching something - but it’s not on prime or Netflix…. So unless I get the dvd I can’t watch it.

I am also suspicious of downloading a proprietary format - I had some shows on iTunes. And now the iTunes Store has kinda gone (to be fair I haven’t tried playing those old shows I bought). I am old skool and prefer to have the solid dvd/cd. I load the file onto my computer and devices. Is anyone old enough to remember Napster? Does it need a renaissance?

cakeorwine · 16/11/2022 18:48

I've cancelled Prime. This change has really annoyed me.

I don't mind if they don't have the song I requested. Even though it used to ask me if I wanted to subscribe to Amazon Music a lot.

But if I request a song or an album, I would hope to hear that song - or the album in order. Not similar songs instead.

bobkate · 16/11/2022 18:57

My daughters' are so cross. They want to be able to skip, shuffle, etc. Is there a reasonable alternative?

jessieminto · 16/11/2022 19:13

I've quit. I did not want a paid for music service, was quite happy with Prime Music as part of the rest of Prime.

The changes are forcing me to pay for a music subscription so I've gone with Spotify.

Tootlingalong · 16/11/2022 19:24

I used to be a huge Amazon buyer, spent a fortune over the many years that I've been a Prime subscriber. Cancelled earlier this year and have saved so much money. I no longer buy all the crap I used to, no more purchases because I've thought of something useless that I needed asap. It's also opened my eyes to just how much more expensive many Amazon prime items are so you are really paying twice.
I miss the music but just got a free 3 month amazon trial and also used a deal on Spotify for a few months.

LtJudyHopps · 16/11/2022 20:13

I will cancel my prime after Christmas because of this. I don’t order enough to justify it so it was mainly the music keeping me.
My sister and her friend (8) were also just asked if they wanted to upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited to listen to the song they requested. They didn’t understand so said yes. Luckily I’ve blocked the payment - it’s criminal that all you have to do is say yes and it takes your money!!

Theraffarian · 16/11/2022 20:15

Absolutely hate it , had a playlist for different things ready to sing along and now I get a random selection that I’ve never heard before . Wouldn’t mind so much if you could use your existing playlists and play the albums you had purchased and shuffle was an option, but for some random algorithms to decide what I can listen too defeats the object of the whole thing .

DuchessDandelion · 16/11/2022 20:23

I'm not happy with it at all. Limited skips on playlists where I'm sure I own the music.

Plus the changes they've made means I've lost the reason why I used them over Spotify.

Amazon isn't what it used to be.

CrabbyCat · 16/11/2022 20:29

@1001Daffodils it's horribly clunky but you can get around not being able to stream music you've bought with them throwing in other songs problem. If you download the music onto your phone and then play from your downloads broadcasting to Alexa it'll only play the downloaded tracks. It shouldn't be necessary to go to so much effort though!

I'm also annoyed. We used to use it to play sleepy music at the DC bedtime, and had one particular album they always had. It now shuffles random songs in, and despite requesting lullabies for babies by 3 songs in its selection isn't even vaguely lullaby- ish and is more toddler party ish. We've ended up buying the original album, I'm certainly not subscribing.

I'd agree that Prime Video isn't as good as it was either, they have a lot more of their own stuff but have got rid of things like Paw Patrol.

megletthesecond · 16/11/2022 20:35

I would quit. Who wants a song similar to the one they want?!

I stump up £18 a month for Spotify family so we can have what we want without ads.

However I did used to have a lovely, paid for Google music play list until the bastards scrapped the app. I really didn't begrudge 99p a song to own music.

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 16/11/2022 20:41

I have amazon prime because of the deliveries. I've had 16 in the last 3 months, I just checked. I'll have more at Xmas and my adult kids order stuff through my membership.
We have a family spotify account which we absolutely thrash. Good value

Luckydip1 · 16/11/2022 20:43

I did a trial on Prime for the free next day delivery and found that the items that qualified for this were more expensive than the ones without it, so it didn't seem to be free after all. I cancelled at the end of the trial.

thisismylittlebrotherGeorge · 16/11/2022 20:43

If you google amazon music unlimited you can get 6months free. That's what we did and it was in the same account so didn't need to make new playlists etc.
will deal with it in May whether we decide to keep it or not.

SheWoreARaspberryBeret123 · 16/11/2022 20:47

The deliveries are no longer next day either. That's why i had it!
