Am I stingy? Boyfriend says i am?

llpoolj · 29/10/2022 17:39

My boyfriend lives with me.
He earns £700 more than me a month.
He is always "skint"
He said he needed £20 for his phone.
So I said "il take it out of my savings account, just give me it on Monday when you get paid"
So then today he borrows another £10 and says so that's £310 I owe you Monday (£300 half of rent and bills )
I say no £330 ...£20 for phone too
He said "really ,your going to take that off me"
"I only topped up because you wanted me too"
(He didn't -he told me he needed to top up"
So he says "you know I would give you my last"
I said I buy you so much
I spent £10 buying him McDonald's today,I bought the food all week
I spent £170 last week on concert tickets for his birthday -then 2 hoodies for his birthday.
I reminded him of this and he says "no you can't class the tickets for my birthday -you wanted to go too"
I also bought us Xmas pjs for £30 two days ago

So how does he have the audacity to say I'm tight?
I just wanted it back to in my savings.
I'm feeling shitty and horrible now
I'm honestly not tight -I just don't want to get the mick took out of me

We go on holiday in two weeks
I've bought the sun tan lotion, after sun, case straps ,case locks ,luggage tags ,case scales,I bought him shorts for holiday and 2 tees and god knows what else

Honestly - more fool you for forking out.

Itsallyellow22 · 29/10/2022 17:41

Why are you buying him all this stuff??

Keyansier · 29/10/2022 17:42

YANBU about any of it apart from the concert tickets - I wouldn't be happy if someone presented me with a birthday present and then told me I had to pay for it.

Itsallyellow22 · 29/10/2022 17:42

Like why would you buy him clothes for holiday? Are you his mum?

Violettaa · 29/10/2022 17:43

Of course you’re not stingy.

You would be a fool to carry on doing this, though.

llpoolj · 29/10/2022 17:43

@Keyansier he doesn't have to pay for the concert tickets -I bought them for his birthday
He is saying they don't class as a birthday gift because I'm getting the second ticket as I also like the band so I'm going with him

You sound like his mum

Revolvingwhore · 29/10/2022 17:43

You think he might one of those... lodgers you hear about. A cock one?

this!!

Brigante9 · 29/10/2022 17:43

I be5 he has a shit ton of savings. He sounds like a right cocklodger. Stop buying him stuff! He should be buying you stuff given he earns far more than you.

llpoolj · 29/10/2022 17:43

@Itsallyellow22 he won't buy anything ,then he will complain that I have new clothes and he has nothing.
I can't win

Oh ok, I understand.

Dump, get rid, move on.

TheRossatron · 29/10/2022 17:43

How can women have sex with these kinds of men and find them attractive?

He's a shameless, freeloading cunt. He would be out of my life and my sight faster than a fart in the wind. Fucking rancid.

Iamclearlyamug · 29/10/2022 17:44

Simple - don't lend him any more money and stop the extras like Xmas pyjamas.

His phone top-up? His problem! He sounds like the stingy one if he earns £700 a month more and only pays £300 a month!

ChocChipOwl · 29/10/2022 17:44

This reminds me of the (financial) relationship I have with my almost 16 year old son ....

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 29/10/2022 17:44

You could leave him - you’d win then!

Seriously, why are you with him?

Tsort · 29/10/2022 17:45

You're being taken advantage of. What possible reason can you have for thinking it’s your responsibility to subsidise a grown man, particularly one who earns more than you? Why are you buying him all this stuff? Paying for all this stuff?

ChocChipOwl · 29/10/2022 17:45

Just stop giving him any money. This is all so deeply unattractive.

'No, I'm sorry, I can't' next time he asks you. And get back what he owes you.

And then .. just get rid of him. He sounds awful

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/10/2022 17:45

Where does his money go? If he earns more.

Tsort · 29/10/2022 17:46

And you don’t ask him why he didn’t buy himself new clothes?

Of course you can win. You can stop being such a mug and dump him. Surely, as you’re writing all this out, you realise how stupid it is?

Luredbyapomegranate · 29/10/2022 17:47

Get rid of him.

This will only get worse.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 29/10/2022 17:47

What’s the betting he doesn’t have any money put aside for holiday spends?

TabithaTittlemouse · 29/10/2022 17:47

You are enabling him.

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 29/10/2022 17:47

Got yourself a total CF cocklodger there OP, he's taking you for a right mug
