As title really. Just wondering if, on an anonymous basis, the results here would reflect what I’m hearing around me in real life.

Would you personally like to see Boris return to being PM?

YABU - yes
YANBU - no

(There’s no bias in the choice of which is unreasonable - I just had to pick one!)

I personally wouldn't. I'm really disliking everyone in politics at the moment so I have no preference as to who is in to be honest as I think they're all as bad and disingenuous as the other. But the reason I wouldn't like Boris back is because I think it'd be a step backwards, rather than forwards.

DesMoulinsRouge · 22/10/2022 10:59

Christ no

Mumoblue · 22/10/2022 11:00

Absolutely fucking not.

AndyWarholsPiehole · 22/10/2022 11:00

No.

whokilledlizandseb · 22/10/2022 11:00

Can't vote on the app but that would be a resounding NO.

We got rid of him for a reason that doesn't suddenly become invalid after he's been gone for 2 months!

Purpleavocado · 22/10/2022 11:01

I wouldn't, he seems to be in it for his ego, not because he wants to do good for the country.

WellWaitForItToPass · 22/10/2022 11:02

3rd option would be a time machine back a few years but that’s not really feasible! 😂

The markets took a dive at the very idea.

SydneySage · 22/10/2022 11:02

i would be interested in why people think he is a viable option to be honest?

All Tory MPs are in it for their ego or own agenda. Country doesn’t come into it. A lot of the narratives about the chaos Truss caused was how it was damaging the party or they were worried about their jobs. Not one of them cares about the national interest.

SequinsandStilettos · 22/10/2022 11:04

No but my hairdresser still likes him and 2/3 of my thirteen year old pupils, which was disheartening.

FayeGovan · 22/10/2022 11:04

No

But selfishly yes. He's great for the independence movement.

He came home early from his holiday

KangarooKenny · 22/10/2022 11:05

Rishi is no better.

KangarooKenny · 22/10/2022 11:05

Rishi is no better.

Well none of them are.

We are being governed by idiots out for themselves.

TurquoiseDress · 22/10/2022 11:06

Bloody hell no bloody way!

What's the point of Boris coming back?!

Need to move forwards

General election now please!

MadameMinimes · 22/10/2022 11:07

Absolutely not. I’m a Labour supporter but the idea of the Conservative party completely collapsing worries me.

They need to stabilise and get things under control or they are going to be wiped out in the next election. I don’t like to think about what might fill the political vacuum left if they totally collapse as a party. There also needs to be a functioning opposition to the Labour government that will almost inevitably follow the next election.

Boris is not someone who will steady the ship.

Lonelycrab · 22/10/2022 11:07

You’ve put the Yabu/Yanbu the wrong way round in your op so I think you’re going to get a lot of votes the opposite way round to what people intend.

SydneySage · 22/10/2022 11:02

A surprising number of people I know have been saying they think he should come back, hence my starting the thread. Reasons cited include:

  • they think he will offer stability as he knows how to do the job and can just slot back in
  • things were better when he was PM
  • he did well with covid

Not my views just repeating what people were saying at work.

My personal view is that a lot of this mess is due to having no credible opposition for many years.

The truth is that we’re having Rishi or Boris. Not much getting away from that.

What a bloody mess and embarrassment it all is.

the thing is I want more public spending not austerity cuts. While i loathe Johnson I think the others will destroy public services. Actually Johnson might too, but I think the other two want to cut public spending on an idealogy

TheLeadbetterLife · 22/10/2022 11:10

Three months ago, Boris was the worst PM the U.K. had ever had. Just because Truss is worse it doesn’t mean Boris wasn’t shite.

Parmesam · 22/10/2022 11:10

No. He's a liar. He's inept. But the pool of "talent" is also lacking.

lentilly · 22/10/2022 11:12

Not after he had a party during lockdown

KangarooKenny · 22/10/2022 11:13

Wasn’t there a similar party for Labour ?

Timeforanautumnal · 22/10/2022 11:13

I don't know why but I quite like him. I would prefer a Labour government though.
