As title really. Just wondering if, on an anonymous basis, the results here would reflect what I’m hearing around me in real life.

Would you personally like to see Boris return to being PM?

YABU - yes
YANBU - no

(There’s no bias in the choice of which is unreasonable - I just had to pick one!)

You’d have to be insane to want that lying piece of shit and his entitled, greedy wife back in Downing Street.

Whattaweapon · 22/10/2022 13:37

How absolutely mental British politics is for this to even be a possibility.

mumsnet polls usually reflect the opposite of RL.

eg Brexit referendum, all the mumsnet predictions were that result would be Stay. Last 2 elections, Labour would definitely win.

Also I don't know anyone in RL who cares about Partygate, whether Johnson is a womaniser etc, while posters here go on and on about it.

Do you know anyone in real life who values honesty and integrity in our leaders?

People may not like Boris, but has has the experience for the job.

Stillnotturnedtheheatingon · 22/10/2022 13:18

No, why is he on holiday when parliament isn't in recess anyway? sums up his attitude to work.

Exactly.

VioletTopaz · 22/10/2022 13:41

Surely the last few weeks have already made us an international laughing stock. Even contemplating bringing him back, frankly makes us look unhinged. To actually do so, would prove we have lost the plot.

I have experience of being a waitress. I was shit at it.

duvetdrama · 22/10/2022 13:41

No thank you...I am actually speechless at the people saying yes or even considering it as a possibility. However...from a Scottish Independence point of view...bring it on, nothing else could make us feel more detached than him returning as PM!

Nadal · 22/10/2022 13:42

I don't understand how this would even be considered. How short are peoples memories ffs

Ivyonafence · 22/10/2022 13:42

Fuck no.

I know it's a small country but surely you can find someone better than that?

DoNutSweatTheSmallStuff · 22/10/2022 13:42

No

Yes, because resigning in disgrace is a sign that it went so well the last time. 🙄

travellinglighter · 22/10/2022 13:44

Getoff · 22/10/2022 12:12

I like him, but I don't want to listen to everyone who hates him moaning about him, so for that reason, I'm not keen.

I don't care about any of the things he was hounded out for. Actually, historically, whenever a prime minister or cabinet minister of either party has gone, I've generally not felt the alleged reasons justified the howling mob that took them down.

So the excess covid deaths, the protections of sex pests, the corruption, lying and incompetence aren’t enough? I mean, they actually took him down to try and preserve their jobs but the above reasons should have taken him out.

travellinglighter · 22/10/2022 13:45

KTheGrey · 22/10/2022 12:23

Kemi Badenoch for PM.

Cos priti Patel wasn’t enough of a fascist?

TheLeadbetterLife · 22/10/2022 11:10

Three months ago, Boris was the worst PM the U.K. had ever had. Just because Truss is worse it doesn’t mean Boris wasn’t shite.

I jokingly asked DH a few weeks ago if Truss was deliberately trying to make Johnson look good so that people would want him back. Tbh I found it bewildering that he became PM in the first place/at the time it happened. Nothing he's done since has improved my opinion, it's still a no thank you from me.

Anonymouseposter · 22/10/2022 13:48

I fail to understand why some people seem to find him likeable.
In any case it would be a good thing if the media and the electorate stopped focusing on personalities and instead focused on policies and principles.
He did well on Covid-some things were done well-the vaccine rollout and furlough (when they were done through existing systems like the NHS), other things like PPE and track and trace were a shambles.
Johnson has no integrity, and I don't want to see him back.
I would prefer there was a general election and for meaningful democracy I think the whole system needs to change to some form of proportional representation or "knock out" rounds in constituencies. The main parties are unlikely to go for that though.

Coasterfan · 22/10/2022 13:51

I don’t care either way, I just don’t want a Tory government. It doesn’t matter who is leading, they are all tories at the end of the day. I want a general election as soon as possible!!

Icantthinkwhat · 22/10/2022 13:52

Let's be VERY clear here. This is about Tory MPs putting their jobs (and of course the very generous salaries) before the country. They don't give a toss that peoples mortgages have jumped by god knows how much... THEY ARE ALL RIGHT ..

If they REALLY cared about the country and economy.. and the lives of its people they would call a general election. But they won't. They believe Boris is their best chance of pulling in the pay check for 2 more years whilst food banks feed nurses and carers that they 'clapped for'

Are people really so shallow that they will vote for a party because the leader is 'a bit of a character' ?

travellinglighter · 22/10/2022 13:52

Someone asked me why I thought Boris was a bad leader so I typed this out for them.

This. In spades. MN is my bellweather for how the vocal and often liberal might respond but not the man on the street.

I think, a bit like Cornelius Fudge, we might be saying “He’s back!” shortly.

If you mean experience of lying, cover ups, backpeddling, complete arrogance , squandering OUR money and utter hypocrisy then yes certainly he does have experience.

neverbeenskiing · 22/10/2022 13:56

Boris Johnson is a proven liar and a racist. .
If he comes back as PM the people should take to the streets and demand an immediate GE.
