As title really. Just wondering if, on an anonymous basis, the results here would reflect what I’m hearing around me in real life.

Would you personally like to see Boris return to being PM?

YABU - yes
YANBU - no

(There’s no bias in the choice of which is unreasonable - I just had to pick one!)

What I don't get is why people are saying "but he's coming back from holiday!" Like it's some wonderful gesture of patriotism.

MPs have 22 weeks a year of recess and this isn't one of them. So why is he holidaying across the globe when he should be working at his job as an MP? Where was his patriotism when he thought he would just skive work for a few weeks??

The same reason he was writing a book on Shakespeare at Chequers when covid was spreading across the country in early 2020.

He's financially in continent and never does any job properly.

Getoff · 22/10/2022 12:12

I like him, but I don't want to listen to everyone who hates him moaning about him, so for that reason, I'm not keen.

I don't care about any of the things he was hounded out for. Actually, historically, whenever a prime minister or cabinet minister of either party has gone, I've generally not felt the alleged reasons justified the howling mob that took them down.

He’s a human bin fire. Unprincipled, feckless, greedy, prepared to wreck anything and anyone if it’ll serve his own selfish purposes. I used to think he was a dreadful politician but someone I’d like to sit next to at a dinner party. Now I think I’d have to leave the room if he entered it. I pray the Tories face learnt their lesson.

loudbatperson · 22/10/2022 12:16

YANBU

Absolutely no way he should return.

Yeah your 12 year old definitely understands all the nuances of the current political landscape and has made an educated judgment

The vast majority of adults in our country do exactly the same thing

jannier · 22/10/2022 12:19

People have short memories he's only been gone 2 months he's still the same man that lied, decorated his flat, etc. And has yet to face questions about misleading parliament in ehich case he legally has to give up his seat.
What do other countries think of us?

Personally I think Truss got the job to make him look good and it was game playing.

It's not "moaning" wanting a leader to stick to the very same laws they enact. That is a basic standards.

sobeyondthehills · 22/10/2022 11:32

I dont understand how anyone in the tory party can boot him out under a vote of no confidence and then go actually its fine.

But to be honest, I am thinking of joining the Tory party, just so I can get in line for my time as PM

And get the £115k a year pay out.....

FourTeaFallOut · 22/10/2022 12:21

No. I wouldn't. I'd like to see Sunak lead the conservatives. I don't think he is great but he's the best of the likely candidates.

ParkheadParadise · 22/10/2022 12:21

Yes I would

Bawbag Boris is great news for Scottish independence.

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 22/10/2022 12:22

I cant believe people think he 'did a good job during covid'

He went about telling people it was fine and shaking peoples hands.

He ignored scientific advice and ditherered about delaying lockdowns so much that thousands more people died than should have. Twice. Resulting in much longer lockdowns than there would have otherwise been

He is corrupt and wasted public money on giving PPE contracts to his friends resulting in sub standard equipment

He made rules for the public that included not being able to see dying relatives in hospital and not having proper funerals while having numerous parties. People were being stopped by the police for going a walk with a friend while he was telling the police to turn a blind eye to his activities

Not to mention the care home scandal where infected people were knowingly sent in to spread the disease

We got the vaccines fairly quickly but I dont think that negates everything else.

Can you imagine being sacked for being incompetent, inappropriate, gross incompetence, lying, corruption...and then having any job, ever again, let alone the job you had before?

I'd honestly consider leaving the country if he gets back in. The man is odious

PriamFarrl · 22/10/2022 12:23

Do people remember that picture of the Queen, alone, burying her husband? That was the day after the party.
No matter your option of the Queen or the royal family she represents all the people who were unable to bury their dead in the way they wanted; meanwhile he partied.

KTheGrey · 22/10/2022 12:23

Kemi Badenoch for PM.

Lonelycrab · 22/10/2022 12:25

Question for the Johnson supporters:

The standards enquiry is coming very soon.

Hes not going to be able to just ignore it.

There are reports that the evidence submitted is compelling and he might well be found guilty.

If that happens he surely must go, he cannot get suspended as an MP and stay as PM.

So what happens then? If you feel I’ve got any of that wrong, please say how, and what you think will be different.

Can anyone answer this?

CellarBellaatemycoal · 22/10/2022 12:27

Isn’t this narrative that we’re governed by idiots a bit limited? It just closes down discussion. What is an idiot then? and in turn, why in that case are our most lauded educational institutions presumably producing idiot after idiot at the highest levels? Who in government is not an idiot and why?
Totally opening myself up to be told I’m an idiot for asking , but perplexed at all the posters who presumably are intelligent enough to dismiss the kind of education required to rise through the ranks of politics?

ChaToilLeam · 22/10/2022 12:27

No. Fucking. Way.

fairtrauchled · 22/10/2022 12:27

Heck no!!

DoubleDinnurs · 22/10/2022 12:30

FayeGovan · 22/10/2022 11:06

Well none of them are.

We are being governed by idiots out for themselves.

I think I we are considering Boris coming back that says a lot. There is no quality left in the party.

I think we need get a PM in for a few months and then a GE in the spring/new year.

sobeyondthehills · 22/10/2022 12:42

jannier · 22/10/2022 12:21

And get the £115k a year pay out.....

I got to be honest, if I was offered a job for 6 weeks, doing nothing for the first 2 weeks and just embarress myself for 4 weeks for a payout and then whatever you are entitled to after. I would just be drunk for the 4 weeks and done

TheFairyCaravan · 22/10/2022 12:43

No. He was sacked by his own party.

I never understood how anyone looked at him, in the first place, and thought he’d make a good PM. He’s an absolute liability. The only thing he will be good for is completely ruining the country and destroying the Tory party. While that will be good for those of us who’d love to see the back of the Conservatives, it won’t be the rich who will pay as inflation goes even higher, and bills become even more unaffordable.

dottiedodah · 22/10/2022 12:45

I think its a bit soon TBH. 3 months ago he resigned .A totally inept leader was chosen .Surely Sunack would be the obvious choice here? A former chancellor with experience of Budgets ,Experience of pandemic and rules of Furlough and so on .

Lonelycrab · 22/10/2022 12:45

Can anyone answer this?

Nobody? Wow, it’s almost like you haven’t thought this through.

Come on, a hundred or so people have voted on this thread that they would like to see Johnson back, at least some of you must have thought that part through?

Hes going to get ejected again almost immediately I think. If you disagree, why is that?

Toddlerteaplease · 22/10/2022 12:47

Absolutely not! We need a general election!

lobsterkiller · 22/10/2022 12:48

I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than welcome that twat back.
