I destest them and their policies too

Good on her for telling it like it is

I know shes hated on mn, or rather on scotsnet. They prefer the tories there, christ knows why. Independence is a dirty word on scotsnet. So i know I'll be shot down, but i couldn't care less.

Good on you Nicola👍

What did she say?

FayeGovan · 09/10/2022 22:26

Laura Kuennsenberg, tory through and through, asked sturgeon if she preferred labour to the tories in government, sturgeon said that was easy, she detested the tories and their policies.

The enemy of your enemy is not your friend!

Seen her views on women’s safe spaces and the GRR in Scotland.

The Tories are dicks who could care more about poor people.

She doesn’t give a shit about women or children quite frankly - a way, way bigger problem.

saturdaymorningbored · 09/10/2022 22:45

YANBU to agree with her, that is your right,
I detest Nicola Sturgeons policies on keeping women safe here but again everyone is entitled to their opinion

underneaththeash · 09/10/2022 22:59

Who cares what she thinks - she's about as useful as the person we have now. Scotland is in a worse state than we are in many ways.
There are many different Tory MPs and some are good, some useless and some awful, but you can't lump them all together.

underneaththeash · 09/10/2022 23:00

OP you can also run for government too.

Exasperatednow · 09/10/2022 23:02

Yanbu

I agree.
She’s also pretty bloody corrupt too.
Read about her last stint in the legal profession before she became an MP.
Interesting and very damning reading.

Scottish NHS anyone?

Seriously, who thinks she’s any good.

Runningslow · 09/10/2022 23:06

I absolutely detest her. Quick to slag off other parties when her own is full of problems. Runs a dictatorship where no SNP MPs are allowed to speak out against the party line, hence why Joanna Cherry has so many problems with her. Very good at ‘forgetting’ awkward facts, and the pushing of trans-ideology is insane.

Laura Kuennsenberg was doing her job as political journalist! The concept that she is tory through and through how do you know? She's a journalist like many people has political silence in relationship to which way she may vote!

Also Scotnet don't love the tories but many are sick of the SNP getting paraded like they are amazing and our vocal about that. The concept on many scotnets post is any criticism of the SNP or Nicola Sturgeon makes you love the Tory part is rubbish!

mibbelucieachwell · 09/10/2022 23:12

Sometimes I detest the tories too, but it's not helpful to think like that and extremely unprofessional and unhelpful for a leader to say that. Like it or not, she has to try to get along with the UK government and remember that she's supposed to be serving and representing the whole of Scotland.

Suetwo · 09/10/2022 23:15

I thought it was a crude, stupid, simplistic thing to say. What does she mean by ‘Tories’ anyway? With the SNP, that is often code for ‘the English’.

Conservatism involves a huge range of opinions. Not all conservatives are free market libertarians, for example (and even they can often make a serious case - to an extent, slashing taxes does boost growth). Does she hate the moderate, middle of the road, one nation conservatives as well? Most sensible people hold a jumble of opinions, some conservative, some liberal-left.

Like so many left-wing people, Sturgeon is an intolerant, sanctimonious bully.

Quincythequince · 09/10/2022 23:20

I can’t believe she’s said she’ll help Labour get into power to get the Tories out.

Who the hell is going to vote for Labour now? Why the the fuck would any person living in England want her having a massive governing influence over us.

Why would she when she hate England so so much.

I’d vote the Tories back in again before voting Labour - just one more reason not to let Labour back in.

Shitshow that they are too.

NamelessNancy · 09/10/2022 23:26

YANBU. The Tories are vile at the best of times. These are not the best of times, so I have no words.

purplepenguin86 · 10/10/2022 00:30

YANBU. As an NHS worker I have nothing but disdain for the Tories.

Why do these allegedly hidden good ones always put the useless AND awful ones in charge?

Bananasweetlady · 10/10/2022 01:48

She's a wee ratbag herself . No friend of women. I despise the Tories myself but she is no friend of women or poor people. And she is no socialist. Nicola is only interested in the Edinburgh elite.

Honeysuckle16 · 10/10/2022 02:04

Thank you FayeGovan, and others for your posts with which I strongly agree.

There is so much mistaken information on this thread. For example:

  • that NS hates English people and England
  • that NS hates women and children
  • that NS works to the detriment of Scottish services.

These are not recognisable to many Scots including those who have voted in the SNP to government for the last 15 years.

NS has never said or written that she hates England. However, this is stated so often in the media and sites like MN that people have come to believe it’s true.

A gender-neutral cabinet, preference given to women candidates, NS’s support for care-experienced children which gives rights enshrined in Scottish law, free childcare for over 3 year olds, free bus travel for 12-18 year olds, the Scottish Child Payment of £20 weekly for each eligible child under 6 years old. It will increase to £25 per week and become available to all children up to the age of 16 on 14 November 2022. The Poverty Alliance reported this money was making a real difference to lifting Scottish families out of poverty.

Heard of any of these? They are scarcely, if at all, quoted in the media but are hard-fought steps taken by NS.

On Scottish services, it was reported earlier this week that Scotland had missed its targets for NHS waiting times, with much criticism following that. A few days later, results for England, Wales and NI were released, showing Scotland had done much better than other parts of the U.K. This was given virtually no attention in the media.

I’m not saying the SNP or NS are perfect, of course there is work to do. NS is making a positive difference to the lives of Scots and that’s why she is voted in.

This was posted while I was writing my very long post.

Thank you, Bananasweetlady. It will give us a laugh in these dismal times as you’re so off the mark. Nicola is famous for her love of her home city of Glasgow, where she lives, shops and socialises. She rarely stays overnight in her official Edinburgh residence. No idea who the “Edinburgh elite” are.

Flapjacker48 · 10/10/2022 02:42

Liz Truss is shit but what has Nicola Sturgeon actually achieved for Scotland?

Flapjacker48 · 10/10/2022 02:43

@Honeysuckle16 All the better if those "women" given preference are trans hey?

Flapjacker48 · 10/10/2022 02:42

Liz Truss is shit but what has Nicola Sturgeon actually achieved for Scotland?

She’s succeeded in bringing more people down to her level of bitter, hate filled, one dimensional anti English politics if you consider that an achievement? And together with IB she’s succeeded in diluting the Scottish voice in WM because everyone knows the SNP will just spew a load of anti-WM bile every time they stand up to speak. They’re literally ignored now as they have nothing credible to say, which doesn’t really help Scotland does it.

Disclaimer: Scottish, not a Tory

knittingaddict · 10/10/2022 03:11

I wouldn't agree with NS if she said the sky was blue.

Scottishskifun · 10/10/2022 03:41

@Honeysuckle16 Your list is a bit cherry picking though also childcare for over 3s is free in England 15 hours or 30 for working families.

Your right she has never said she hates the English, she did however put into law during covid that it was illegal for Scots to travel to England unless on a certain exemption reason list for over 6 months which led to people standing on the border waving anti English signs........ or not disciplining her SNP members when they have attended the more hardcore independence rallies which call to boot the English out (that's the polite version). All these actions and many more lead to members acting towards others and thinking its OK because its not condemned.

You have missed a few achievements off her list
Highest drug death rate in Europe
Ferries scandal
Alex Salmond court/scandal
Education scandal SQA - still no replacement for that system
NHS- cancer diagnosis wait times, no proper long covid clinics still (estimated 100k sufferers health boards had to bid for a share of 10mill worked out at less then 1 Mill per board), a policy that women were refused IVF/lists unless they were covid vaccinated (including private that one has only just gone)
My personal favourite is the billions in tax decificit because they are unable to count and didn't heed warnings that the number of working people living in Scotland was way lower then their numbers! Basically they couldn't count!
