They are just so out of touch with people and come across as so patronising and smug. They pretend they understand about people's struggles whilst earning thousands in salary and promoting £100 advent calendars. Today they are doing a section on butter boards! Some people can't even afford the price of butter at the moment 😔

Stopped watching TM years ago, YANBU.

3rdtimeisacharm · 07/10/2022 11:30

Ok so just because we're in a cost of living crisis you don't think anyone should be able to discuss anything that isn't related to the cost of living crisis. Shall we just cancel Christmas altogether then?

Of course we are in the shit at the moment but watching TV is just a way for people to switch off and not think about how miserable the world is 24 hours a day. What about the football then? Should we cancel that too because the players get paid too much? And the F1? And the olympics?

YABU

SpinningFloppa · 07/10/2022 11:31

Stopped watching it years ago

JackieDaws · 07/10/2022 11:32

Meh, butterboards are just the latest thing after charcuterie and grazing tables.

Please don't jump the queue to do so!!

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/10/2022 11:32

YABVU for watching it.

FourTeaFallOut · 07/10/2022 11:35

What is a butterboard? Just different types of butter served up? With what - bread? Fancy bread and butter? 🤔 Off to Google.

ChilliBandit · 07/10/2022 11:36

Hopefully enough people are turning off that ITV have a rethink of the format and also change the insufferable Holly and Phil. I would quite like something less serious than BBC Breakfast to have on in the background but cannot stand H&P. Like Steph’s packed lunch but with a bit more news/weather etc.

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 07/10/2022 11:37

But how can they be in touch with everyone watching, we are all in different boats? They are human interest pieces, that's all. I don't watch it anyway as I'm at work.

Stationsofthecross · 07/10/2022 11:40

Yabu. How on Earth are they going to cater for Everyone - all our circumstances are different surely. They can’t please everyone. Just don’t watch it - I have never seen it as I work. Why don’t you put something else on.

augustusglupe · 07/10/2022 11:40

Turn off OP
I stopped watching when Fern left.

rocketfromthecrypt · 07/10/2022 11:40

Use the off button on your remote control then! It's a pile of crap and always has been.

FourTeaFallOut · 07/10/2022 11:41

I don't know, serving up guests bread and butter seems very hanging on till payday accessible.

LemonSwan · 07/10/2022 11:42

Butter board! Dw I googled that’s fucking disgusting 🤮

And I say that as someone who is extremely generous with the butter.

Noteverybodylives · 07/10/2022 11:43

I don’t watch daytime TV at all but being on MN you must know that many people can afford these butter trays and £100 advent calendars and they are their market.

Edgeof35 · 07/10/2022 11:43

I don't care about This Morning, but I've just googled Butter Boards and that is truly disgusting. Are you supposed to dip your bread in it instead of using a knife? What's wrong with just little small pots of butter - why a board?

Vecnussy · 07/10/2022 11:43

TM is a load of patronising shite yes. But some people can afford butterboards & £100 calendars. That's their target audience. And it's not great TV to constantly talk about the cost of living crisis and how depressing life is for most of us.

BrieAndChilli · 07/10/2022 11:50

to be honest - who is watching This Morning?

Retired people - most probably have some disposable income or are set enough in thier ways to not care about the latest fads.

People who don't need to work

  • for some this will mean that they have enough money to live on so probably are influenced
  • those who are unable to work and on some sort of benefit or are just scraping by - they cant afford a lot of things that are advertised on TV (and this morning is basically a big advert for shit)

Those on shift etc who probably just have it on for background noise.

This Morning will be being paid ion some way I expect by some of these companies in the form of free stuff/sponsorship/ads during the breaks etc so they must think its worth it.

Bettyboo12 · 07/10/2022 11:54

Its just on in the background really, I don't normally watch it as working. I'm just annoyed because I love butter, but the prices are rediculous at the moment so making a bloody fancy butter boards just seems to rub it in really. I just think their timing is off sometimes. Would be nice to see more budget, family friendly meals though.

I've got a margarine board. Grin

TwoWrightFeet · 07/10/2022 12:01

Disgraceful! flaunting butter in out faces with everything that’s going on in the world right now.

And the OP is not better. Bragging about owning a TV and being able to afford electricity to turn it on! Then goes on MN with her fully charged smart phone to brag about it.

So out of touch!

tiredofthiisshit21 · 07/10/2022 12:02

Oooh, butter boards? I need one!

Iamthewombat · 07/10/2022 12:02

Earning THOUSANDS in salary, you say?

TwoWrightFeet · 07/10/2022 12:03

Its just on in the background really, I don't normally watch it as working.

Working at a computer? With enough electricity to spare that you can power a TV for background noise!

MN is so out of touch these days. I just can’t relate.

Mangogogogo · 07/10/2022 12:04

If you’re not earning thousands in salary I’d probably get a new job
