They are just so out of touch with people and come across as so patronising and smug. They pretend they understand about people's struggles whilst earning thousands in salary and promoting £100 advent calendars. Today they are doing a section on butter boards! Some people can't even afford the price of butter at the moment 😔

I always used to think they are tone deaf. It really annoyed me when Holy and Phil spoke to some woman who identifies herself as trad wife. All this mocking, asking why she needs to open the door to her husband when he's back, doesn't he have his own key etc. Like they know it all and could as well provide marriage counselling. Now in COL they promote some expensive shit and yet still pretend they understand situation of normal people. Just plain stupidity.

What is a butterboard? Just different types of butter served up? With what - bread? Fancy bread and butter? 🤔 Off to Google.

I’ve tried googling but not really any the wiser.

Forfrigz · 07/10/2022 12:27

Their target audience is basically people born into ignorant wealth but aren't bright enough to hold onto it so they spend all their money on ridiculous trends like butterboards and have no money left to hand down to their kids.

TwoMonthsOff · 07/10/2022 12:27

does anyone remember Alexei Sayle...

'would you like a knob of butter sir'.....

'no I f**king wouldn't'😂

Butter boards are the least of their problems considering the rumours around one of their main presenters.

Its just on in the background really, I don't normally watch it as working. I'm just annoyed because I love butter, but the prices are rediculous at the moment so making a bloody fancy butter boards just seems to rub it in really. I just think their timing is off sometimes. Would be nice to see more budget, family friendly meals though.

How can you afford to have tv on in the background with the cost of living crisis? 😝

That's quite niche 😁

TwoMonthsOff · 07/10/2022 12:29

@KimberleyClark
same here ! but I think I am going with 'pile of shyte'

BarnetTroubles · 07/10/2022 12:30

The show needs a massive shake up, no doubt, but with regards to advent calendar and food items, it's a bit of escapism.

qpmz · 07/10/2022 12:30

They can't talk about bog standard stuff the whole time, it would be very dull!

charabang · 07/10/2022 12:31

OP if you can't afford a butter board you should look for a better paid job 😁

SheWoreYellow · 07/10/2022 12:31

I don’t think we can blame Holly and Phil for the content though?

BadNomad · 07/10/2022 12:32

Well, that's gross. Imagine all the little hairs that land on it as people swoop their arms around.

princesssparklepants · 07/10/2022 12:32

Butter boards are rank. I mean the amount of double dipping that would go on.... 🤢

Yep, bought butter in supermarket this morning £1.89 .
last time I bought it was about 8 weeks ago- £1.49

fecking hell I thought

bitni suppose if it is now a luxury item it should go on a board 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hugocat1 · 07/10/2022 12:35

I only really ever had it on in the back ground from watching the news in the morning if I was pottering around the house. I found it mildly irritating.

When I caught Holly reading out that narcissistic letter off Phillip ‘coming out’ because he was about to be revealed in sexually harassing a young lad I decided to make a point of switching it off if it ever came on. His wife and kids must have been mortified.

I don’t even watch if these two are hosting another program now.

TBF I wasn’t that fussed/surprised over them queue jumping, as I found it completely in line with how these two think think about themselves/behave.

Its about time they both moved on if TM want to continue with the show.

Sniffypete · 07/10/2022 12:36

They had a guest on the other day who had special needs and were clearly taking the piss out of them. Made me so angry to see that they were taking advantage of someone.

OoooohMatron · 07/10/2022 12:36

I think YABU. I occasionally watch if I'm off work and it's just a lighthearted daytime show. If you want doom and gloom watch the news.

I always opened the door to my DH when he came in. He had his own key, but it was just a nice thing for me to do after he'd been getting Angry sat in traffic. Not sure I'd need marriage counselling from PS either tbh 🤦‍♀️😂
They live in their insulated little "I'm famous, worship me" lives...no connection with their viewers at all.

Also...
I wonder how a butter board can be a human interest piece?🤔🤯

Maybe P and H prefer double-dipping?

Doingprettywellthanks · 07/10/2022 12:39

I can’t look at Holly without remembering 16 years ago in a London hotel bar seeing her do coke in the ladies

RIPWalter · 07/10/2022 12:39

No need for fancy boards in my house, DD (4) just scoops the spreadable butter straight out of the tub if we don't quickly get the lid back on and hid it in the fridge.

Nothing posh about it!!

Calandor · 07/10/2022 12:39

Lots of people can still afford fun things. If they only did skint sad sections the world would be very grey

MissingNashville · 07/10/2022 12:39

I don’t watch it but see clips on YouTube or hear bits from others. But what you want them to do, fill all the time with doom and gloom and Martin Lewis money saving tips?

It seems they try to have a mix of serious and lighthearted stuff. I didn’t know what a butter board was although having looked it up, it is exactly as it sounds. Seems completely pointless and as a vegan, not something I’d do, but I’d watch it in an a sort of ‘wow, this completely pointless, random thing is now a thing’ kind of way. 😅

Now there's a situation in which a board would be preferable.
