They are just so out of touch with people and come across as so patronising and smug. They pretend they understand about people's struggles whilst earning thousands in salary and promoting £100 advent calendars. Today they are doing a section on butter boards! Some people can't even afford the price of butter at the moment 😔

And Gino and his £100 truffle on top of ‘cheap pasta to feed the whole family’ the other day. It almost feels like since they queue-jumped and got slammed for it they want to annoy the public even more.
The butter board thing made me want to vomit. It felt like decadence on the level of the medieval wealthy people with meat grease all over their faces at their feasts.

What’s wrong with putting truffle on top if pasta? It’s really nice, especially if fresh and in-season.

You need to remember that they aren’t trying to cater only to the poor, they will have plenty of people in their audience who are doing well.

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2022 17:55

It's a show that has to cater to everyone.
Like the one show does too

jetadore · 07/10/2022 18:00

More fool anyone who watches that shite.

Justleaveitblankthen · 07/10/2022 18:04

augustusglupe · 07/10/2022 11:40

Turn off OP
I stopped watching when Fern left.

I see your Fern and raise you Richard and Judy.. and even by the time they left the Liverpool studios I had cooled slightly..

sst1234 · 07/10/2022 14:14

Exactly. Anyone who is working during the day isn’t watching this drivel. Anyone working nights is asleep. The only people watching are the ones who can afford not to work.

Cos those are the only hours anyone works Hmm

My shifts vary all over the place, so I'm quite often off on a weekday or working a late, which starts 1-2pm for us.

Outside of the social media bubble, loads of different people watch daytime telly, for loads of reasons. And P&H are still liked by many.

Inkanta · 07/10/2022 18:39

Flicked on the other morning and PS looks rattled to me HW looks weary. I sense a tension between them now. I could be wrong.

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2022 18:48

They need a new format and new presenters.
I still won't watch it, but maybe it's time to put PS and NS out of their misery.

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2022 18:49

HW rather
No idea who HW is!! Sorry

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2022 18:49

NS ! Grr 😠

FredaFox · 07/10/2022 18:52

This morning should have been cancelled years ago but while there's a cost of living crisis people will still buy what you class as frivolous items, I don't smoke, have sky tv, buy frequent new clothes/fast fashion but I enjoy my annual treat of a beauty advent calendar (in fact I buy 2 and open one in miserable January) it gives me enjoyment, I use the majority of items and give what I don't to my mum / friend who does the same

Collywibbles · 07/10/2022 19:00

I have a butter dish ... does that count? And I honestly don't think I have ever watched it. I can't stand inane witterings at the best of times and definitely not in the morning and judging by this thread I haven't missed much. Not that the Beeb are any better. Audio books or podcasts here....

VioletInsolence · 07/10/2022 19:03

Before the latest crisis the butter in Aldi was £1.60 (I think). Now it is £1.99.

I realise most things have gone up but why are people obsessed with butter going up 39p?

i just have my butter in a butter dish and put some flowers directly into a sandwich.

jewishmum · 07/10/2022 19:10

If you ever see double cream reduced, you can easily make a block of butter with minimal mess and you can freeze it too.

Dailymash · 07/10/2022 19:18

To be honest I think spending your working hours posting on an Internet forum with the telly on in the background, rather than actually working, is taking the piss but there we go.

Sceptre86 · 07/10/2022 19:43

It's not just aimed at people struggling though. If it was every fashion segment would have stuff from primark or supermarkets! What's wrong with having segments on stuff to aspire to? I like seeing some of the higher end stuff, I can't always afford it and some of it I just wouldn't buy but often it's interesting. For example I wouldn't spend £100 on a blouse but I'd spend it on an airfryer.I bought myself a £50 advent calendar last year and have just finished using all the products, I can't stretch to the more high end ones but I like to see them.

Yabu to appreciate that it's not aimed at just you. Frankly if all the segments were centred around austerity it would be a hugely depressing watch.

lemmein · 07/10/2022 19:50

I honestly don't understand why people go on and on about not liking TM, or Loose Women for that matter - so what? I don't like The One Show - so I just don't watch it....I mean, I don't watch TM or LW either but that's beside the point, plenty clearly do.

I suspect these two shows are singled out because they're predominantly aimed at women -surely there's plenty of shows/presenters that you don't like? Why so much bitterness towards this particular one? Petitions to get them sacked, seriously? Confused

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2022 20:05

I don't watch a lot of things people do
They hate Eastenders, yet I'm a big fan even though it's rubbish mostly! Entertaining, but I know that it's hardly university challenge !
Horses for courses isn't it?

rwalker · 07/10/2022 20:18

I watch grand design but never be able to afford one

Canttouchthis90 · 07/10/2022 20:49

jetadore · 07/10/2022 18:00

More fool anyone who watches that shite.

Took the words out of my mouth there

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2022 20:54

It's just ITV fluff.
Dh was about to watch Lorraine this morning!!
That went off. Nothing against Ms Kelly , but it's just people plugging things isn't it?

Chloefairydust · 07/10/2022 23:13

If the rumours are true about PS, and I believe they probably are. I think it’s disgusting for ITV to condone that sort of predatory behaviour. It disgusts me how many men can use their position of power, wealth, position of privilege and celebrity to take advantage of vulnerable people.

I don’t watch this morning when he’s presenting, can’t stand the man

shooketh · 08/10/2022 11:33

Does it have to be butter would lidl "spread" work or would it be too soft? Has anyone tried it? Did it go down OK?

TroublesComing32 · 08/10/2022 11:47

I stopped watching when there was a feature about somebody predicting the future by throwing a bunch or asparagus on the table. I like the radio better than the tv now.

RedElephants · 08/10/2022 11:47

I've just Googled butter boards,

Yuk, even more so if it's on wood 🤢

Octomore · 08/10/2022 11:48

It looks utterly rank - why would you want to try it?

You could out some little pots of fancy butter and dips (with knives/spoons as needed) and that would work just fine. But smearing melting butter over a used wooden chopping board (which will harbour at least some bacteria in the grooves) and leaving it out for house while everyone dips into it at random is 🤢

I'm normally quite lax by MN standards - I ignore best before/use by dates and go by common sense, happily reheat leftovers etc. But I draw the line at this.
