AIBU?
To find Asda rewards annoying
girlfriend44 · 04/09/2022 14:27
Asda has a new rewards app! I wont be downloading but
When you go round the store you might see a price say on a tub of roses or celebrations for £1. Thats the price you pay if you have a reward not the normal price.
You have to look really hard to see what the normal price is and they are all over the store. At first glance you will think the tub is a pound, you know it cant be but its prominent and makes you think its a pound. So you have to search out the normal price!
Wish they would stop all these reward apps too its very discriminatory to people who dont have apps and who still spend money.
Sainsburys is best where you have a card if you want to join a loyalty scheme and fair to all.
Am I being unreasonable?

It’s a waste of plastic for every single person registered to get a card whether they want it or not. I always have my phone with my and would prefer to scan a barcode on that rather than have a wallet bogged down with loyalty cards.
That's what the Asda rewards is, it's an app where you scan the barcode.

The plastic Clubcard is only optional now as you can use the app instead

It's literally an app and the barcode is on there rather than on a card

Surely there is an app? . All my other supermarket cards are on my phone. I'd be surprised if this was different. Many don't carry wallets any more. Phone does it all!

I used the Asda rewards app for the first time this week and it's by far the best supermarket loyalty scheme I've seen so far. Just did my normal shopping and got nearly £5 back to use next time. Asda is one of the cheaper supermarkets anyway so it works out quite good. If you don't want to use it that's fine but there's no point moaning about something that can help people save a bit of money. I also much prefer the app to a card as I don't want to be carrying loads of different cards around when I shop.

@girlfriend44 I think you’ve misunderstood.
The £1 is not the price you pay if you have the rewards app, it’s how much cash you ‘earn’ from that purchase.
The amount is then transferred to an Asda voucher.
I think the Tesco Clubcard pricing thing is crap. I’d much rather have a cumulative % of my shop made available to spend in the form of spendable vouchers which don’t limit me to specific products.

I know! Omg how many people are telling me this.
OP is the one trying to say an app loyalty scheme is discriminatory against people who don’t have the app! I’m just making the point to her that 1 it’s not discriminatory and number 2 an app reduces plastic waste.

I love it. I do my weekly shop at asda and in the last 4 weeks I've 'earned' £16 worth of vouchers. You don't get a cheaper price but you do get money added to your 'cashpot' if you buy certain items or achieve certain missions (eg spend £50 or by x-number of frozen goods by x-date). You can then convert your cashpot to vouchers to get money off your shop.

I didn't get a card, just a barcode on the app.
The items aren't £1, you get £1 of rewards in your app. The normal price will just be on the shelf like any other items.
I like it. I've received £13 in just 3 weeks of doing my normal shopping.
