To find Asda rewards annoying

girlfriend44 · 04/09/2022 14:27

Asda has a new rewards app! I wont be downloading but

When you go round the store you might see a price say on a tub of roses or celebrations for £1. Thats the price you pay if you have a reward not the normal price.

You have to look really hard to see what the normal price is and they are all over the store. At first glance you will think the tub is a pound, you know it cant be but its prominent and makes you think its a pound. So you have to search out the normal price!

Wish they would stop all these reward apps too its very discriminatory to people who dont have apps and who still spend money.

Sainsburys is best where you have a card if you want to join a loyalty scheme and fair to all.

Am I being unreasonable?

It's very clear

Hahaha OP if it was like that and you couldn't see the great big £4 sign you need an eye test!

economicervix · 04/09/2022 14:50

I hope the data people enjoy my boring eBay searches and telling people on here to dump their shit males. Couldn’t put on price on that 😄
Why start a thread if you don’t know what you’re talking about?
Also it’s a choice to not have a phone or tablet capable of having an app on it. So discrimination is irrelevant.

I used the Asda rewards app for the first time this week and it's by far the best supermarket loyalty scheme I've seen so far. Just did my normal shopping and got nearly £5 back to use next time. Asda is one of the cheaper supermarkets anyway so it works out quite good. If you don't want to use it that's fine but there's no point moaning about something that can help people save a bit of money. I also much prefer the app to a card as I don't want to be carrying loads of different cards around when I shop.

its not a fair service though as its not open to people who dont have the App but still shop there.

Get the app then

liveforsummer · 04/09/2022 14:57

Then get the app?! You're deliberately planning not to so you can't really complain it's not fair because you could have it if you wanted it

Life isn't fair. Some people can't go to Asda at all, should they have to build an Asda in every village so that everyone can access their offers? Plenty of websites and cost saving apps are only available to people who shop online - top cashback etc. Even online sales which aren't in-store like prime day. It's not "discrimination" against people who don't have the internet.

It’s a waste of plastic for every single person registered to get a card whether they want it or not. I always have my phone with my and would prefer to scan a barcode on that rather than have a wallet bogged down with loyalty cards.

I'm on all the supermarket loyalty apps. Don't have a single physical card. All on my phone.

cant you understand its not possible for everyone to have the app.

You may only have a basic payg phone with no internet access, thats just one thing.

You still shop in the store so you should be treated the same as other people.

I've used it since March, my local Asda was part of the trial. You download the app. It has all the items that you can get cashback on example 50p cashback on Jaffa cakes. This then goes into your cashpot to spend. Other offers include get £1 cashback when you buy 3 fish products or 5 fruit and veg. The offers change every few weeks. So far since March I've had £70 pounds awarded to the cashpot. Definitely worth it.

Bubblebubblebah · 04/09/2022 15:03

Don't all asdas have WiFi? It always pings in 3 i go to

luxxlisbon · 04/09/2022 15:04

@girlfriend44
And yet you’re happy to shop with a sainsburys loyalty card and collect points thus not being treated the same as someone without a nectar card.

liveforsummer · 04/09/2022 15:05

There are very very few people who don't have a smart phone these days. Those that don't it's generally out of choice. You don't even need data to use the apps so it's not an ongoing financial issue. For those tiny few they are still paying the same prices anyway - you misunderstood that.

Exactly!

That's not how the asda rewards work. If you buy the tub of sweets it adds a £1 onto your asda reward total. You can then use the asda rewards as a coupon to get money off your shopping at a later date

Exactly this. The Rewards thing has rolled out in our local store in the last month and it's great! We had things like £2 coupon for every 10 fruit/veg items you buy, similar offer on frozen, £1 coupon when you spend £6 on cleaning items etc.

I like it better than the Tesco model.

girlfriend44 · 04/09/2022 15:09

giveovernate · 04/09/2022 15:07

Exactly!

you dont need to have an app to have a nectar card!!!

OP posts:
KassandraOfSparta · 04/09/2022 15:13

So basically OP, you are pissed off that you are "losing out" by not having a smartphone. So buy an old, basic smartphone. Use it on wifi only, at home or in Asda. Collect your rewards.

economicervix · 04/09/2022 15:14

You have to go out of your way to find a phone that you can’t get apps on. There’s free WiFi everywhere. It’s fine to admit you’re incorrect.

Plumbear2 · 04/09/2022 15:15

I'm not sure how you can find it annoying when you haven't tried it. You don't even know how it works ,🙄

girlfriend44 · 04/09/2022 15:09

you dont need to have an app to have a nectar card!!!

To get nectar offers I have to select them on the app. I shopped online with them this week and until I had selected my nectar offers on the app they didn’t come up as offers on my online shop.

i didnt say whether i had a smartphone or not ,what about older people who dont have a smartphone?

OP posts:
giveovernate · 04/09/2022 15:17

@girlfriend44 I know that!! But you have to have a nectar card, so you're not being treated the same as someone who doesn't have a nectar card?

How is that fair if the app isn't?

You do know it's 2022 and very few people don't have smart phones?

There are quite a few people who have doro basic phones for phone and texting only. Not everyone is online?

OP posts:
giveovernate · 04/09/2022 15:18

@girlfriend44 people who don't have smart phones or nectar cards won't benefit from the savings? Simple! That's life.

its the very few that shop in that store then that are discriminated against does that make it right because its only a few then?

@girlfriend44 I know no one that doesn't have a smart phone or internet.
