To find Asda rewards annoying

Asda has a new rewards app! I wont be downloading but

When you go round the store you might see a price say on a tub of roses or celebrations for £1. Thats the price you pay if you have a reward not the normal price.

You have to look really hard to see what the normal price is and they are all over the store. At first glance you will think the tub is a pound, you know it cant be but its prominent and makes you think its a pound. So you have to search out the normal price!

Wish they would stop all these reward apps too its very discriminatory to people who dont have apps and who still spend money.

Sainsburys is best where you have a card if you want to join a loyalty scheme and fair to all.

I noticed though you only get cashback on branded items? The first time it was kellogs cereal then branded sweets I go on there to buy fruit and some gluten free bits I got nothing in return 😅

I spent £25 on school uniform from George and got £5 in my pot, fruit and veg (not branded), and so on. So no, this isn't the case.

There's a cleaning bonus, a fruit and veg one and a meat and fish one plus lots of other 10% bonuses on a wide selection of items both branded and non branded. The app tells you the products that get you extras in your cashpot

its not a fair service though as its not open to people who dont have the App but still shop there

I like it, I get weekly deliveries from Asda and in three weeks have accrued nearly £12. If someone else doesn’t want to download an app then so what, they have the opportunity to.

It is now - it was just being trialled in select stores for a few months at the start of the year but it went live to every Asda from Mid August

I went in today for a little top up shop after downloading the app thanks to this post. Bought nothing on an adverted deal and already have £1.50 from basics I needed anyway. Glad I was made aware!

Download the app and sign in using the same account as you use to order your shopping online, it should automatically link them.

I think this is the best of the supermarket rewards. So far I have accrued £8 just for buying things I would normally (mainly fresh fruit) - over two shops

YANBU...I realise that many people might love it but I would agree it's quite annoying to have to download an app to access the rewards, it's really putting me off shopping there anymore.

2 minutes to download and set up app is less time than I spent on getting tesco club card😂

I would be worse off because I would have to see all the stuff in the shop about the amazing rewards that I wouldn't be getting because I didn't want to download their annoying app!!
Much less annoying to just not go to Asda any more! 🤣

Online or instore?

Instore you need to scan the barcode from the app at the tills

Online you need to sign into the app with the same details you use for Online shopping and that should link the app to the online shopping

You need to be buying stuff with the star icons so if you've been unlucky and none of the stuff you've bought has that then you won't earn anything.

There are other missions like buying packs of fruit and veg or meat and fish, etc so its not all about the products with stars

You don't. I haven't. There's milestones on the app. Star buys are just a part of it

I’ve been trying to join this scheme but it won’t complete my membership as the email address is already in use . I don’t remember joining so ask for a new password . BUT. They don’t have a member with that email addy . Atm I’ve been waiting in a phone queue (3rd time) for more than an hour to try and get a response. … oh just answered now and guess what… the systems search engines have gone down and he can’t look for my membership … hadn’t a clue .
forget this, stick to Lidl and Sainsbury

Do you have an online account - for George online or for online grocery deliveries? - or have you signed up for the in-store Scan and Go system?

If you have any of these then your email address will already be in the system as an existing customer so you just "Sign in" as opposed to signing up as a new customer. If you don't know your password from your existing account then just sign in > forgotten password and it should be a straightforward fix.
