We Must Endure High Bills. Proud

AIBU to be proud of Boris Johnstone-in this matter-when said, while visiting Ukraine on their Independence Day, that we must endure high bills as remember that Ukraine are paying in blood.

I was worried about the soaring cost of bills-power/food but this made me stop and pause.

Aibu to think that we should all write down what he said and put it on the fridge to remind ourselves that it will be worth it. We're doing it for Ukraine and it is worse for them.

hashtag. Proud to Pay for Ukraine

Are you being sarcastic?

MistyFuckingQuigley · 26/08/2022 07:46

Don't be so utterly ridiculous. This is a pisstake right?

SleeplessInEngland · 26/08/2022 07:46

7/10 for effort. I like the cheeky misspelling of Johnson, nice touch.

JustTheOneSwan · 26/08/2022 07:46

Lol

Yirk · 26/08/2022 07:47

Not sure many people in the UK will agree with you in the depths of winter when they are freezing and hungry!!
I of course have sympathy for Ukraine.

GeekyThings · 26/08/2022 07:48

Power to the people!

Oh no, wait, I'm sure that's wrong... 🤔

ReeseWitherfork · 26/08/2022 07:48

I think Boris-John Stone sounds like a numpty.

Mountainatmygates · 26/08/2022 07:52

What the actual fuck?

funny how BlowJo isn’t asking the energy companies to take a hit on their profits for Ukraine 🙄

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 07:52

Why is it a pisstake? Are you saying he didn't say it or I've taken it out of context?

If so, I most certainly have not! It's a 2 second google to find it.

I haven't made it up. He said it. It's widely reported. Look it up.

I agree with him. Is it wrong to agree because Boris said it or wrong to agree because you don't think we should support Ukraine by enduring high bills while they pay in blood.

Did he say this to the press while having a shit round the bag of Argos?

Mountainatmygates · 26/08/2022 07:55

@MissHavershamJoinsTinder because he isn’t asking the energy companies to suck it up is he? He’s asking the British population to freeze and starve for Ukraine while the energy companies rake in record profits ffs

First chuckle of the morning for me 😆

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 07:58

FFS!
Look it up before you imply I've made it up.
Google his name+Ukraine+price rise+endure.
It was covered everywhere from ITV to Daily Telegraph.

Then, when you read it for yourselves drop the "piss-taking" comments and say if it makes you proud-will bring some comfort of not.

For me, it makes me proud and will bring some comfort. AIBU

This thread HAS to be a joke right 😳 Please god

Harridan1981 · 26/08/2022 08:00

We are not saying that you are making it up, just that you must be taking the piss with your pride etc. Wowsers.

Leafy3 · 26/08/2022 08:00

Wait. Not sarcasm?

SleeplessInEngland · 26/08/2022 08:01

Op, you’ve pushed it too far. The first post was enough to let simmer, now you’ve ruined it with the faux outraged follow ups.

Mountainatmygates · 26/08/2022 08:01

@Leafy3 it HAS to be surely?!

LilianLenton · 26/08/2022 08:02

Assume you're joking. If you're not joking, please remember that when people in the UK die due to lack of food, the cold, or suicide due to the government's (lack of any proper) policy on this, then we will also be paying in blood.

The energy companies should be required to make the big sacrifices before the energy customers. But I imagine that would hit the government too hard in the pocket.

No-one is forgetting Ukraine.

Unbridezilla · 26/08/2022 08:02

No one thinks you are making it up. We just think it's bat shit that you agree.

Agree that the energy companies should be taking most of the burden in their enormous profits. Not the public

JudgeRindersMinder · 26/08/2022 08:04

You do realise this was all in the offing before the current Ukraine war?

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 08:04

Well, should it make me ashamed?

The fact that there is a real reason-a worthwhile reason-for this awful time-that we're helping Ukraine, enduring it, for them does make me proud.

It helps. Or doe it not help because it was Boris who said it.

OP posts:
LittleBirdBlu · 26/08/2022 08:04

I don't think you've made it up, but we should now all be proud to pay high prices because of what's going on in Ukraine?! No, just no.

Cactuslove · 26/08/2022 08:04

I'm still going with sarcasm. The alternative is too depressing.
