We Must Endure High Bills. Proud

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 07:45

AIBU to be proud of Boris Johnstone-in this matter-when said, while visiting Ukraine on their Independence Day, that we must endure high bills as remember that Ukraine are paying in blood.

I was worried about the soaring cost of bills-power/food but this made me stop and pause.

Aibu to think that we should all write down what he said and put it on the fridge to remind ourselves that it will be worth it. We're doing it for Ukraine and it is worse for them.

hashtag. Proud to Pay for Ukraine

Moving past motivations of op - anyone with Ukraine ties feeling affected by these type of posts the west is doing this for own security too, not just Ukraine, it is not selfless

Although necessary and will be hard as strain shows. As German spokesperson said this morning Putin intends to test the resolve and push societies as much as he can

Mountainatmygates · 26/08/2022 07:55

@MissHavershamJoinsTinder because he isn’t asking the energy companies to suck it up is he? He’s asking the British population to freeze and starve for Ukraine while the energy companies rake in record profits ffs

Exactly.

The rising bills have little to do with the war in Ukraine and mostly to do with the lockdowns. People should and will be taking to the streets soon. I’m sorry your post does sound like you are being sarcastic.

No, they are mostly due to the incompetence of our government, and Brexit.

Mountainatmygates · 26/08/2022 08:54

Which intern at Westminster posted this bullshit attempt at propaganda?

@NotQuiteUsual yes, I often think that about some of the threads on here! The replies are heartening though!!

ecnatsid · 26/08/2022 08:55

I'm not proud, I'm mortified of the state of this country and government

Novum · 26/08/2022 08:56

@MissHavershamJoinsTinder, do you seriously imagine that people like Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Truss, Sunak, and their friends will be "enduring" anything? They will be laughing all the way to the bank with their dividends.

Furries · 26/08/2022 08:57

I can’t be arsed to compose a rational response of my own, so I’ll go with an easier one instead.

Fuck off you shit-stirring cunt of a bot, sat in some manky room coming up with “ingenious”ways to try to spread discord.

And, if you’re not a bot and are actually really like this, then fuck off even further.

Now, I know it’s early, but I have cake, wine, coffee and gin if anyone would like some.

etopp · 26/08/2022 08:57

WTAF, OP?

Gemma987 · 26/08/2022 08:57

Nice try Jacob Rees-Mogg but you aren’t convincing anyone 😂

creamwitheverything · 26/08/2022 08:58

OP you ok hun? Do you need a rest in a darkened room with one of those jumpers that let you hug yourself that ties at the back? ffs PROUD really?? Anyone can be proud of anything when you have finanial security like Boris. See how proud you are freezing your tits off and kids are cryog cos they are cold and hungry and old people are clogging up hospitals ....come back in November and tell me how proud you are again.

ArcheryAnnie · 26/08/2022 08:58

I'm not "proud to pay" because I won't be able to pay. It doesn't matter how much I tighten my belt, the money just isn't there.

NotQuiteUsual · 26/08/2022 08:58

Put it on your empty fridge and eat the pride instead?

Axahooxa · 26/08/2022 08:58

look at the soaring profits of energy companies.

stick that on your empty, warm fridge in December.

NoMichaelNo · 26/08/2022 08:59

Feeling proud isn't going to feed my family or keep us warm is it?

tryharder100000000 · 26/08/2022 09:01

If another Tory Toff David Cameron hadn't cancelled all the green energy projects 10 years ago we'd be in a much better place now.

We have to endure higher prices due to David Cameron's terrible terrible choices.

Discovereads · 26/08/2022 09:01

Boris the Bastard. If I were Zelensky I’d be insulted by this. Boris just used the Ukraine War as a scapegoat to justify profiteering by the gas companies (and probably boosting his personal investments). The U.K. doesn’t use any of the Russian gas affected by the war. He’s using the dead of the Ukraine for his own political purposes and saying that to Zekensky’s face- that’s the action of a narcisstic egoist.

tryharder100000000 · 26/08/2022 09:01

Plus Boris has LOVED hanging out with Russian Oligarchs.

Didn't he go on holiday with one a few years ago?

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 26/08/2022 09:02

I shall put the message on my fridge.

The fridge that stands empty as we can’t afford the food to go into it, and no longer hums as we can’t afford the electricity to keep it running anyway.

Bugger off you Tory simp.

Vallmo47 · 26/08/2022 09:03

Do you feel the same for every other devastating thing that happens worldwide OP? Do you only ever drink water in solitude with people who have none? Is your answer to someone struggling with a massive family fall out “you can’t have an argument because so many people have lost loved ones and are genuinely struggling with bereavement, so suck it up buttercup”.
Or do you accept that bad things are happening constantly everywhere and we are all just trying to keep our own heads afloat?
We are not fucking selfish or lack compassion for Ukrainians because we want to afford to pay our bills.

If your original post is genuine, you are even more heartless than BJ. Because you decided on this day, when people found out the true effect of price increase in October, to shit on worried people even more by starting this thread.
Well done.

Nagado · 26/08/2022 09:03

I’d have been prouder if Boris had directed his comments at the energy companies and their multi million pound profits, rather than at the people he and his mates have already stomped over while feathering their own nests.

butterflied · 26/08/2022 09:03

LadyCatStark · 26/08/2022 08:51

Just be grateful you can afford to be proud to pay for Ukraine.

Quite.

Alexapause · 26/08/2022 09:04

Is your brain wired to the mains and there has been a power cut?

Applesonthelawn · 26/08/2022 09:04

Have this conversation in Germany where the impact is greater and the lack of will to support Ukraine will falter. When the EU suggests Ukraine gives up Crimea/Donbas etc. just so they can get their cheaper gas, that's when the debate will heat up. Here and now, it's irrelevant because UK support for Ukraine shows no signs whatsoever of weakening.

I think whilst the majority of posts are clearly from participants with an agenda, they are followed by common people who are genuinely scared of the increased in the cost of living and simply did not bother to think twice.

I have bad news for them. No, giving up Ukraine will do nothing to the gas prices. At the moment Russia gets the same money from Europe for a quarter to a third of volume due to the increase in price, and additionally sells on the newly found excess capacity southwards. What makes you think they will at any point in the future increase the supply to Europe, lowering prices? They are better off this way. And if it works ones, the Baltics, Poland, Moldova will be next. Where's the red line, somewhere along the old Berlin wall?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/08/2022 09:05

Well I take it you're in a very comfortable financial position because if you weren't there's no way you be okay with all this, and that's all well and good.
However don't dictate to the rest of us about what we should endure (While you're sitting there beside your swimming pool drinking organic herbal tea.
Some people have to live in the real world and not the 'Me and Mine are alright Jack World'

Oh Op is actually right though He did say it or at least I read that he did.
Obviously how true it is I don't know
