We Must Endure High Bills. Proud

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 07:45

AIBU to be proud of Boris Johnstone-in this matter-when said, while visiting Ukraine on their Independence Day, that we must endure high bills as remember that Ukraine are paying in blood.

I was worried about the soaring cost of bills-power/food but this made me stop and pause.

Aibu to think that we should all write down what he said and put it on the fridge to remind ourselves that it will be worth it. We're doing it for Ukraine and it is worse for them.

hashtag. Proud to Pay for Ukraine

Were you also proud of him when he said "Let the bodies pile high" about Covid?

C8H10N4O2 · 26/08/2022 08:39

Bit early to be on the sauce isn't it?

monicagellerbing · 26/08/2022 08:40

I'll remember that OP when I'm being evicted and can't feed my kids. I'm doing it for Ukraine, fuck my kids eh.

@SleeplessInEngland

You disagree. Fine. This is AIBU but don't make stupid accusations.

Ok, troll. Whatver you say. 😘

Ladybyrd · 26/08/2022 08:40

Yes. Very.

How strangely posts like this, recommending anti-Ukraine hashtags are popping up on all social media in the last few days. Almost if by a command. Can't be, surely.
Yep, let's blame Ukraine for everything. Stupid fuckers, wanting to live.

Flowers agree It’s a goady thread, not sure if op is just doubling down on sarcasm that went wrong but all this stuff doesn’t help

IrishladyNE · 26/08/2022 08:42

The rising bills have little to do with the war in Ukraine and mostly to do with the lockdowns. People should and will be taking to the streets soon. I’m sorry your post does sound like you are being sarcastic.

Louise0701 · 26/08/2022 08:42

Christ some peoples lack of humour depresses me at times. No wonder there’s so much pearl clutching on mumsnet if people are this serious in real life.

Thanks for the reminder @MissHavershamJoinsTinder I will tell my 3yo son when he is shivering and crying because he is cold that it could be worse and he should be proud of himself!

Dibbydoos · 26/08/2022 08:43

It's bullshit, OP.
BJ doesn't give a rats arse about us or people of the Ukraine. The reason we're in the shit is cos our government failed to react when Russia did this to us previously. Its nothing to do with the war, though cos we did nothing previously to get away from Russian gas, thry have us by the shorf and curries.
Stop listening to this buffoon. BJ only cares about BJ and his ex Etonian mates. He has been the worst PM we have had, hes lied about everything and is feeding us BS still and youre swalloeing it left right and centre.

NotQuiteUsual · 26/08/2022 08:43

Which intern at Westminster posted this bullshit attempt at propaganda?

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 08:43

The BBC are reporting, this morning, Russia is burning gas near Finland. They are determined to make sure prices rise further by making gas more rare.

I guess they are hoping a moment will come when countries will be forced to desert Ukraine because gas is so rare it will be unaffordable and lights will go off all over Europe.

OP posts:
RaRaRaspoutine · 26/08/2022 08:44

Ah the propaganda machine has worked on you OP. Ukraine is a convenient excuse.

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 08:45

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 26/08/2022 08:38

Were you also proud of him when he said "Let the bodies pile high" about Covid?

No. I wasn't.

But on this thread I'm referring to one single, widely reported comment, that struck a chord with many.

OP posts:
Louise0701 · 26/08/2022 08:45

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon Because it was Boris who said it; people are disgusted. The reality is that many of the British public stated on many occasions that the lockdowns were damaging the economy and that health vs economy had to be weighed up for long term damage. Let’s all snipe at one man though, because there’s definitely zero chance Dominic Cummings is lying, is there?! On that note; anyone remember the Durham trip? Public enemy number 1? No. Didn’t think so.

DarkDarkNight · 26/08/2022 08:48

I have immense sympathy for Ukraine but the rise in bills isn’t something to ‘endure’ for most people. Most people simply don’t have this kind of money going spare. Lots of people were already struggling to get by and were already living in poverty.

This is on the energy companies (who have made massive profits by the way) and government to solve.

Novum · 26/08/2022 08:48

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 08:35

Thanks for that point about France

Why just thank someone for the point about France? It's well known. Why not explain why you proud that another country is able to cap price rises whilst we don't? How does that help Ukraine?

ohholyday · 26/08/2022 08:49

Maybe someone should have thought about the fuel security of the country before engaging in a proxy war with Russia.

FYI the powers that be, Zelensky included, give zero fucks about Ukraine and will happily see it turned into a glass carpark in order to extract as much money as possible from us plebs.

Keep swallowing the shit they feed you. Maybe you'll choke to death before you freeze.

Endlesslypatient82 · 26/08/2022 08:50

do you have children?

what is your income ?

If you think the current state of our economy is solely down to lockdowns, you are simply not paying attention. Other countries who had lockdowns have much faster growing economies than ours. The plain fact is that, after 12 years of Conservative governments, the country's economy is going down the pan, and that process has primarily been accelerated by the sheer folly of Brexit.

LuluBlakey1 · 26/08/2022 08:51

MissHavershamJoinsTinder · 26/08/2022 07:52

Why is it a pisstake? Are you saying he didn't say it or I've taken it out of context?

If so, I most certainly have not! It's a 2 second google to find it.

I haven't made it up. He said it. It's widely reported. Look it up.

I agree with him. Is it wrong to agree because Boris said it or wrong to agree because you don't think we should support Ukraine by enduring high bills while they pay in blood.

It's wrong to agree because you ate believing rubbish- it's an outright lie and complete shite.

We have the highest energy prices in Europe by a mile because our government are allowing energy companies to increase their profits by billions and have not intervened at all to protect the public.

Are you thick? Have you read nothing about how this works?

ilovesooty · 26/08/2022 08:51

LilianLenton · 26/08/2022 08:02

Assume you're joking. If you're not joking, please remember that when people in the UK die due to lack of food, the cold, or suicide due to the government's (lack of any proper) policy on this, then we will also be paying in blood.

The energy companies should be required to make the big sacrifices before the energy customers. But I imagine that would hit the government too hard in the pocket.

No-one is forgetting Ukraine.

Well put.
