Have you watched this video by Neil Oliver

AIBU to start believing he actually has a valid point. I am not normally part of the tin foil hat brigade but I most definitely have been starting to question what's been going on recently

I'd be interested to hear other people views on this subject.

Thanks

No I haven’t watched it, can you give an overview of what it’s about?

Dadaya · 21/08/2022 06:22

You’re taking notice of an anti vaxxer who’s appeared on GB News? 🙄

Indoctro · 21/08/2022 06:24

@Hotandbothereds

Here is a link to a transcript of it

Despite who or what you think of him, I am more meaning I have started to think along the same lines myself recently and then came across his video from a few days ago.

No that he has made me think this, I was already starting to think it myself.

Numbat2022 · 21/08/2022 06:30

I managed three minutes.

You are being unreasonable to watch Neil Oliver. The man is a deluded conspiracy theorist who makes a living off scaring people.

However, there is no doubt we have the worst government we've ever had, run by people who have absolutely no interest in helping or improving things for the people of this country. They are corrupt, they use their power to help their friends and Tory party donors make money, and they only want to stay in power to continue the gravy train.

Schemes like net zero are not the problem. We need a government who will invest huge amounts of money in renewable energy - wind farms, solar farms, solar panels on every new house, etc etc. We need a government who will think long term and do the best thing for the country in 50+ years, not just think about their term in government.

The problem is the Tory party, and the imbeciles who are currently running it (who have always been there, just better hidden).

SaintHelena · 21/08/2022 06:37

Nonsense imv.

Look at all the stately homes across the country - the rich have always bought swathes of land. Now it's the Bill Gates'.
One tractor in a protest gets shot at by Dutch police and it means they are trying to put all Dutch farmers out of business????? Errr no.

What shocks me is that all the commoners in the world are happy to ruin the planet by constantly buying plastic, drive so much that they are destroying the planet with CO2, fly on holidays whenever they can, are overweight so at greater risk from Covid etc

Aishah231 · 21/08/2022 06:44

I think it's a really powerful piece OP. Thanks for sharing.

the80sweregreat · 21/08/2022 06:49

I've read the link and he appears to have some good points.
Be interesting to see how this thread develops

knittingaddict · 21/08/2022 06:53

There have been a few of posts like this recently. People who declare that they "have no interest in conspiracy theories normally, but could this obvious conspiracy theorists be right?"

Either conspiracy theories are gaining ground and this is the worrying evidence or someone/more than one has an agenda and keeps posting this tripe. Either way I wish it would stop.

It's not completely harmless and people with fragile mental health can be dragged down the rabbit hole and the consequences can be terrible, up to and including family annihilation. For these reasons I have zero tolerance for people like the man in the video. He's probably just monetising all this and making himself a pretty penny. Possibly doesn't believe a word of it himself.

Rant over.

djdkdkddkek · 21/08/2022 06:58

That was so interesting thank you for posting it

Indoctro · 21/08/2022 06:58

@knittingaddict so aren't you even remotely questioning what's has happened is last 3 years and the tripe that Klaus Schwab has been spouting about what the future hold for us all.

OP posts:
knittingaddict · 21/08/2022 06:59

I've read through the transcript now. Honestly there is blatant qanon stuff in there. Why would anyone listen to a word he says?

knittingaddict · 21/08/2022 07:00

What's to question?

Indoctro · 21/08/2022 07:00

@Numbat2022 I totally agree re government but I'm also thinking more on a worldwide scale rather than just the shit show that the UK is becoming.

I find Neil Oliver to be an intelligent, wise and insightful man with a huge love and respect for his country and its origins. His books are wonderful. He's not just an "antivaxxer on GB News". Therefore I am inclined to listen to his concerns and use them as part of many other sources in order to form my opinions. I hate these kind of reductive, sneery dismissals.

www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2799784/neil-oliver-national-trust-for-scotland-outlander-braveheart/

This seems hypocritical- given his points re travel . What’s wrong with Scotland?

He says: “I’ve been in the middle of a really silly six months that has taken me to New Zealand twice, Australia twice and China for a month for TV work

LilacSky95 · 21/08/2022 07:15

I believe what he says to be true 🤷‍♀️ the world leaders do not have our best interests at heart.

ClaudineClare · 21/08/2022 07:22

There is a tiny grain of truth in what he says, in that our government is corrupt. The rest of it is nonsensical babbling. Why would the government want to "break" everything and leave us all too poor to even be able to afford to wash ourselves? Who gains from that OP? Why do people go on and on about Schwab as though he is some kind of master of the universe?

Indoctro · 21/08/2022 07:28

@ClaudineClare i seen a women from WEF talking about if the world had a population of 750 million instead of 8 billion how the planet wouldn't struggle.

Poverty kills, there is no doubt about that.

I don't have all the answers all I know is I'm am questioning what's been happening and what the reasons could be

I have a uneasy feeling about the future for my kids.

@Indoctro

Do you understand what the WEF actually is and what power it has (or more importantly doesn't have) over the world's governments? Do you think the WEF has the power to reduce the population?

There is a strong whiff of anti-Semitism pervading many of these conspiracy theories.

LadyWithLapdog · 21/08/2022 07:38

What @Numbat2022 and @knittingaddict said.

Conspiracy theories are not my thing.

NotMyDust · 21/08/2022 07:48

He's attempting to sow mistrust and discontent to fearful people.

There's another thread on here from a poor soul whose DH has bought this kind of thing hook line and sinker, he sounds brain washed.

Don't let him in to your mind OP!

This guy is taking advantage of your confusion and getting in there with a series of disperate "points" backed up by dog whistle type "evidence" to try and find a pattern.

Do your own thinking.

NotMyDust · 21/08/2022 07:52

@knittingaddict ooh do you think someone is posting this stuff on Mumsnet for a reason?

interesting.... although it's ironically that's
a bit conspiracy theory itself

Yeah it always boils down to the Jews with that crowd.

It's far easier to believe a big bad is behind all of the weird shit so I get why people fall down these rabbit holes. Pandemics happen and will always happen and so does war. We've all been living in a period of time where these types of things haven't been happening and if you look back through history you'll see that's the outlier not the norm.

ferneytorro · 21/08/2022 08:02

I liked him better when he was fannying around on that Coast programme although he always seemed to take himself a bit seriously - is it the same man?
