Have you watched this video by Neil Oliver

AIBU to start believing he actually has a valid point. I am not normally part of the tin foil hat brigade but I most definitely have been starting to question what's been going on recently

I'd be interested to hear other people views on this subject.

Thanks

Preying on the minds of the weak and the fearful. 😬

Beancounter1 · 21/08/2022 09:06

Neil O said: the powers that be fully intend that we should have less heat and less fuel and that in the planned future only the rich will have cars anyway

He is so nearly right, but so, so wrong.

In the future, we (the non-rich) will have less heat and less fuel and only the rich will have reliable cars.

But this is not due to any conspiracy. 'The powers that be' are not one single organised group, they don't act collectively, and don't 'intend' anything except to keep themselves and their families as protected and rich as possible (and don't we all do the same?).

The reason we will have less fuel and will struggle to keep clapped-out old cars on the road is that the world will have less and less oil every year, forever.
This is also the reason that the economy is nose-diving and global economic growth is over for good. It is also part of the reason that global food security is a massive issue (the other part of the reason is climate change of course).

Oil is everything. It is the uber-resource. In about 2008 the world had the most oil ever. And we have had less every year since. And will continue to have less every year - apart from those wealthy and powerful enough to secure the lion's share of dwindling supplies.

If you want to know more, google 'peak oil'. But keep a critical mind and watch out for rabbit holes.

Many of these people who become so well known are because they’re clever as they’ll talk about true things which can fully be backed up with facts, so people go oh wow if he’s telling the truth about that he must also be telling the truth about X,Y,Z and he must know what he’s talking about.

They’ll also talk about things that will get peoples attention and act like they care about things that affect the regular person.
So when people start watching it they can connect to what he’s saying and agree with it.

I read a book about how people recruit ISIS members and they said it’s the same method that these sorts of people use like conspiracy theorists and religious cults.
If you like the person and 90% of what they’re saying is fact then you’re going to believe other things they talk about.

Unfortunately, covid really shook some people up, knowing that there are things that are out of their control.
So people prey on these vulnerable people and the amount of conspiracy theorists has significantly risen since covid as it makes them feel more in control.

The more people that start believing these things eg that birds aren’t real, the more that other people start believing it because they think if all of these people believe it and there are some facts in there then it must be true.

CornishGem1975 · 21/08/2022 09:08

I don't generally believe in conspiracies but fuck me, the further we go into this shit show I'm starting to hope this is all part of a bigger plan and not just the fact that we continually elect shambolic people to manage the country.

ChagSameachDoreen · 21/08/2022 09:12

Just from the thumbnail he looks like an absolute crackpot - the sort you see ranting and raving in city centres.

luckylavender · 21/08/2022 09:15

No way would I watch a video from this crazed loon & I'm very much a 'listen to both sides' kind of gal.

Charlize43 · 21/08/2022 09:15

Indoctro · 21/08/2022 07:28

@ClaudineClare i seen a women from WEF talking about if the world had a population of 750 million instead of 8 billion how the planet wouldn't struggle.

Poverty kills, there is no doubt about that.

I don't have all the answers all I know is I'm am questioning what's been happening and what the reasons could be

I have a uneasy feeling about the future for my kids.

That makes no sense as they could have just withheld the Covid Vaccines and let millions of people die globally.

Also dead people = no tax revenue.

ShirleyJackson · 21/08/2022 09:19

I used to quite like his programmes. Has he gone a bit David Icke?

Shame.

goshy · 21/08/2022 09:21

But this is not due to any conspiracy. 'The powers that be' are not one single organised group, they don't act collectively, and don't 'intend' anything except to keep themselves and their families as protected and rich as possible (and don't we all do the same?).

Exactly

It's not a big secret, the rich have got richer & smaller over the years & like the majority of people want to hold onto that wealth. Many people in the West don't have a problem with fast fashion or overseas travel etc because they prioritise themselves over a poor family in China or Africa. The "rich" are just doing the same as we have finite resources. I'm not saying it's right but it's human nature & not a conspiracy.

SunnyD44 · 21/08/2022 09:25

Conspiracy theories have always abounded, especially during difficult times. During the Plague, people thought "foreigners" were poisoning the water supply.

It's just fear - feeling that fear, and passing it on to everyone else so you're not along in your fear. The reality is, the world is chaotic and shit and unfair. We are on the outer edges of the climate crisis, the rich are (predictably) getting richer and the poor getting poorer: same as it ever was.

Agree with a PP that there's been a proliferation of this sort of bollocks on here recently. NO is, to put it mildly, a cunt.

You’ve put it perfectly.

Whenever people feel scared they have to blame someone or something to make them feel better.

I remember there was a killing in the UK and everyone on SM blamed the persons religion, they then turned out to be Christian or non religious so people starting blaming race, it came out that he was white so they blamed MH.

I know many people who believe that covid was intentionally leaked and the reasons why vary but not one person has a solid explanation about why it was released and what purpose it served.

Yet they don’t feel that way about swine flu, foot and mouth disease, malaria, Ebola etc all of the diseases that cause devastation to others but because it doesn’t directly affect them then they don’t believe it’s a conspiracy, which says it all.

Endofdaysarehere · 21/08/2022 09:26

Neil Oliver is a notorious conservative unionist tin-foil hat wearer.
Always question the source, and if he’s a loon don’t give it headspace.

MsRosley · 21/08/2022 09:30

You either believe our current lifestyle is sustainable for 8 billion people or you don't.

I don't. Therefore I disagree with Oliver and think we have to do something to save the natural world. I'm all for rewilding as much as we can.

goshy · 21/08/2022 09:32

@MsRosley what do you think the solution is?

SidSparrow · 21/08/2022 09:36

If the mainstream media says it's a conapiracy theory, I believe them. No way would I listen to an alternative view. I love my bubble.

lightand · 21/08/2022 09:36

More and more people coming round

At what point does a conspiracy theory become mainstream?

Charlize43 · 21/08/2022 09:41

I came across a very good article (might have been a dissertation?) a few weeks ago but cannot find it now. It was written by a marketing person and it explained how a good conspiracy theory once it was monetised could generate a fair chunk of revenue. They likened it to a sleight of hand trick as the reader was too distracted by the 'content' to see what was going on - and that due to the uncertain times we live in now the growth of conspiracy theory industry had increased ten fold. There was also examples of baiting, click throughs, maintaining engagement, how to take news items and present them in a distorted way to fit and support your conspiracy theory, etc.

It was a fascinating read and now I always think now, 'someone, somewhere is making money from this' whenever I see these videos or hear about 'The Great Reset.'

Agadoodoododont · 21/08/2022 09:43

When a person starts rambling from one subject to another, claiming they’re all conspiracies in one way or another, you know their material is poor, badly researched and they have little understanding of what they’re rambling on about.

There’s a war in a country that is one of the world’s leading producers of a staple food stuff. War ALWAYS disrupts food supply. One of the 3 leading causes of starvation is war.Why do you think food was rationed in WW2?

Pandemics happen. Rare, but they happen. Ebola was moving westward across Central Africa between 2014-2016 Scientists started to work on a vaccine against Ebola but saw they could include other diseases. Their aim was to make a core vaccine that could have elements added to fight Malaria, ( can’t remember the other diseases) and Disease X —- an unknown, novel virus they knew would strike at some time. - In 2019/2020 that virus was Covid-19. That’s how we got a vaccine so quickly. And it works. There are no longer 1000 deaths a DAY in the UK that there were in 2020. Mass vaccination has weakened the virus and will continue to do so.

Read SCIENCE, written by SCIENTISTS, not rubbish by some rambling wannabe who knows very little.

DogInATent · 21/08/2022 09:46

Anyone even mildly curious should be wondering about things like why energy suppliers are posting record profits whilst we, the consumers, are seeing our bills rise at an alarming rate

Because these are only contradictions to people that don't think, aren't that bright, or haven't attempted to think about how the world works. Fortunately for the conspiracy grifters there are a lot of people in those categories to sell their tinfoil hats to.

Primary energy prices are rising because the West has chosen to restrict the availability of gas and oil from Russia as a sanction on Russia for invading the Ukraine. But we still need the same amount of energy to generate power, heat homes, run vehicles, as feedstocks, etc. So the market price has risen because everyone's chasing a smaller pool of 'politically ethical' oil and gas. But it hasn't become more expensive to produce, so the primary producers that get the oil and gas from the ground are seeing their profits rise. The gas and electricity coming to your home comes from distributors that buy energy at mix of forward and spot market prices. Their costs have risen, which is why your bill has gone up (and why so many energy distribution suppliers have gone bust). The company you pay your bill to are unlikely to be seeing record profits from the rising prices.

Prices for energy in the UK are rising faster than elsewhere in Europe purely because other European governments have chosen to intervene. The UK Conservative government seems to be adopting a minimal intervention approach and hoping that we can all cut back on usage. Other European countries are in a worse strategic position than the UK (Germany has been overly dependent on Russian gas and is working double-fast to fix this before winter) but have decided to act to reduce the impact on consumers and business.

And Neil Oliver is an ).(

CrunchyCarrot · 21/08/2022 09:46

I occasionally listen to Neil Oliver on YT but of late (like so many others, e.g. John Campbell) he has started going down the conspiracy rabbit hole. It's really so sad. He seems now full on anti-vax:

Then there’s the so-called vaccines for Covid – I deliberately say “so-called” because by now it should be clear to all but the wilfully blind that those injections do not work as advertised. You can still contract the virus, still transmit the virus, still get sick and still die.

He is just so wrong, I wish to goodness he would listen to proper virologists!! He is supposedly educated but yet chooses to believe rubbish - because he wants to and it fits his own agenda.

As for the rest of it, again, he's going Great Reset on us, isn't he.

It’s hard to think that all of it, all the misery, all the suffering of the past and to come might just be about money, greed and power. It is hard to tell yourself you’ve been taken for a fool and taken for a ride. It’s hard, but the view from the other side is worth the effort and the pain. Open your eyes and see.

Yes, I do agree re greed/power/money but I think he (and others) are distorting things as well. When people say they don't listen to/believe MSM (mainstream media), well, who then are they listening to? Another lot of brainwashers on bitchute etc!

Yes we do need to take care of our natural world but it's going to be an epic battle against large conglomerates - is it a conspiracy on their part? No I don't believe so. Is our world being deliberately sabotaged? No, it's just a very sad consequence of greedy stupid humanity. Maybe however it will still end up in the same (bad) place regardless of how we get there.

user1471505356 · 21/08/2022 09:47

Another David Icke?

WeAreTheHeroes · 21/08/2022 09:51

I started to read the transcript but had to give up. This kind of thing is always presented in a way that makes the supposed "truth speaker" superior. It's always highly emotive and light on actual facts.

With the proliferation of social media anyone can find support for their own illogical, minority viewpoint these days.

We don't live in a global dictatorship where Spectre pulls the strings. There's a pandemic. The vaccines lessen the effects of the virus. I was vaccinated against whooping cough in the 70s but still got it, to a far lesser degree than my unvaccinated sibling.

Argh - please people stop listening to this shit and employ some critical thinking.

WeAreTheHeroes · 21/08/2022 09:53

user1471505356 · 21/08/2022 09:47

Another David Icke?

Yes, I think you're right. The problem today is that he is one of many so it's harder to spot.

Indoctro · 21/08/2022 09:54

So people are focusing too much on who the video is by

Forget Neil my point is I was already starting to question what is happening in the world and then I came across his video and he basically is also questioning what is going on

Is anyone starting to ask / think why .? That is what I meant.

OP posts:
foliageeverywhere · 21/08/2022 09:54

From the transcript:

the idea of cash being ultimately replaced with transactions based on the exchange of what amount to glorified food stamps that will only be accepted if our social credit score demonstrates that we’ve been obedient girls or boys …
This is a popular CT, but has no benefits to a capatist Western Government. Literally no rational as to why they would want this.

Then there’s the so-called vaccines for Covid – I deliberately say “so-called” because by now it should be clear to all but the wilfully blind that those injections do not work....of countless deaths and injuries caused by those medical procedures.
Cba to engage, but feel free to AS me and what I posted on the last thread about this guy & his anti-vaccine agenda.

...Raid the house of Donald Trump. Meanwhile Joe Biden and his son Hunter – he of the laptop full of the most appalling and incriminating content – fly together on Airforce 1. No raids planned on the Obamas, nor on the Clintons.
Grin

Yup he's still talking absolute bullshit @Indoctro ...that's 10 mins I'll never get back.

Riverlee · 21/08/2022 09:55

Vaxxers

Whether you’re a pro or ant-vaxxer, I think everyone should read the book Vaxxers. It’s written by the scientists who were there at the forefront, developing the vaccine, the science behind it, the previous vaccine developments and processes which led to the quick roll out of the covid vaccine. It’s a fascinating insight and well worth reading.
