TESCO CANCELLED all orders after 1pm today...

LittleOwl153 · 19/08/2022 15:19

Just that....

I'm sitting waiting for my 1-2pm delivery which hasn't turned up so I ring the call centre.

Due to technical difficulties they have cancelled ALL ORDERS NATIONALLY after 1pm today
(I assume tomorrow is ok?)

No call, no email, nothing....

Just thought I'd share so noone is dinner less tonight!

This is shit, pardon my language. I need to feed my family. Tesco get better mate.

happyinherts · 19/08/2022 15:22

My experience of this is that no, tomorrow is not okay. They have tomorrow's orders to deliver already scheduled. Unfortunately, don't be surprised if your order just vanishes into thin air. I've had this too, argued with them about it and had little positive response.

LastWordsOfALiar · 19/08/2022 15:22

Why wouldn't they send an email?! Some people may be relying on that to eat! I bet they're panicking in Tesco HQ!

TheSummerPalace · 19/08/2022 15:25

It happened to Morrisons recently with their click and collect orders. The computers went down nationally, so even if they had your trolley of shopping all ready for you to collect; they didn’t know whose it was! If you could go in store and tell them what was in your order; they let you put it through the tills, pay for it and then take it! (You got a refund of your original payment)!

Depending on the technical difficulty they may not be able to access the email address

Ohhhhhshitttt · 19/08/2022 15:38

Thank you for this info! I'm so annoyed..we have a 3-4pm delivery slot today and I realised we hadn't received an email receipt so was a bit suspicious anyway but checked emails and nothing. Are they just not letting anyone know?! That's terrible.

Getoff · 19/08/2022 15:40

Are they just not letting anyone know?! That's terrible.

I suspect the systems that are down also generate their communication emails.

Tree543 · 19/08/2022 15:42

People are asking them on twitter and the are just fobbing them off and saying they will look into their case when they already know about the company wide problem

RIPWalter · 19/08/2022 15:43

Had massive problems completing my order on Monday evening as the site and app went down, but couldn't cancel it and already had 12 pints of milk a sat in my basket to reserve my slot, eventually did it half asleep before bed time. It turned up fine on tuesday morning, then DH got an email saying his payment had been rejected, but on the tesco website under previous orders it says payment sent. Hoping we got £90 of free groceries!!! If it wasn't just us who haven't paid, they might have just realised they've got a big problem and shut things down.

thenightsky · 19/08/2022 15:43

I was due a delivery at 5 - 6pm and I've just checked back in my emails from this morning and found they've send a cancellation one, citing 'store issues'.

BarbaraofSeville · 19/08/2022 15:47

Lets hope they aren't holding anyone's last available pot of money so they can't replace the food elsewhere.

But it's incidents like this that should remind people that where possible to try not to be in a position where a failure to deliver food on time doesn't leave you with no food and no money or resources to replace at least enough for a couple of days.

Also, if you have been inconvenienced and an apology voucher isn't automatically forthcoming, to let Tesco know how it affected you so they can compensate you accordingly.

(yes I know, cost of living, food banks, no spare money, etc etc, which is why I said where possible to have a couple of alternative meals in or the ability to get to the local shop to get bread, beans, cereal, milk and eggs if nothing else).

This is so annoying. Why do companies do this? If you know there's a problem, admit there's a problem and don't pretend!

DickyIAm · 19/08/2022 15:48

They did this to me a little while ago.
They rang and said the driver was running late, think it was a 9-10pm slot so I waited till 11pm and then rang again. They said ‘yes he’s still coming’ So I waited up till 12:30 then gave up.
Rang them the next morning and asked where it was, they said ‘oh no it’s not coming now or ever’ No real reason why.
Cancelled my saver pass and haven’t shopped online with them since.

Fuckers.

fufflecake · 19/08/2022 15:49

I keep emergancy tins in stock for a couple of days worth of food have been eating into them due to cost of living so this is a good reminder I need to try and build stocks up thanks.

Glittertwins · 19/08/2022 15:52

This is not the first time this has happened recently as it happened to us. No notification whatsoever and I only found out when I called to ask what was going on since I'd had my receipt emailed and payment taken.

RIPWalter · 19/08/2022 15:54

If you check "downchecker" there are massive issues with the tesco website, as there were on Monday evening.

I'm wondering if it is another Cyber attack like the recent one that crippled 111.

Moonface123 · 19/08/2022 15:58

If the system is down how can they access your information? They have hundreds of customers shop online a day, there will be thousands of pickers, drivers and click and collect staff, as well as admin affected as well. Its national, not just local.

Dahliasrule · 19/08/2022 15:58

Oh no! Just waiting for our delivery from Tesco, due between 3 and 4 today. I wondered why we hadn’t received a receipt email. This order contains things for our self-catering holiday tomorrow. We are going somewhere quite remote and wanted the basics for the first couple of days. Oh bother! Or words to that effect.

Twinklystar52 · 19/08/2022 16:03

I have received my receipt and had the money taken. According to the app the driver is 2 stops away. I really hope he is

Wehadabetamax · 19/08/2022 16:05

FFS! Thank you OP, my delivery was scheduled for between 4 and 5 today and I knew nothing about it being cancelled. I now need to go shopping when I could have gone earlier today.

I've still not recieved a reciept or had the money taken for Tuesdays order. But we are currently eating it!!

Glitterypinkmoomin · 19/08/2022 16:08

Click and collects also cancelled. At least I was at the store so was able to do my shopping, although not ideal with tired DC in tow after a day out.

Harridan1981 · 19/08/2022 16:10

Typical. I did wonder when the payment didn't go out. Off to Aldis 😴

HandbagsnGladrags · 19/08/2022 16:12

And this is why I sacked Tesco deliveries off about two months ago - got sick of them cancelling on me at very short notice, or if they did turn up half the order was missing. Vote with your feet OP.
