LittleOwl153 · 19/08/2022 15:19

Just that....

I'm sitting waiting for my 1-2pm delivery which hasn't turned up so I ring the call centre.

Due to technical difficulties they have cancelled ALL ORDERS NATIONALLY after 1pm today
(I assume tomorrow is ok?)

No call, no email, nothing....

Just thought I'd share so noone is dinner less tonight!

It is national, we managed to pick from 5 .00am to 9.00am, then whole system crashed so those with earlier slots would have got theirs.
It is not due to lack of staffing or holidays.

@KTyoupigeon appreciated. But most people didn't starve to death before online delivery services. Everyone has just got so lazy.

I have a life-threatening condition but can still manage to get in my car and drive to the local supermarket. Woo! Go me.

Grand!

The delivery I got today is for an elderly lady who lives rurally and doesn't drive. I could have taken her to the supermarket but she's really not well as she's recovering from cancer and would struggle massively. Same as my mum who has COPD and physically can't walk around a supermarket.

Popplebop · 19/08/2022 19:20

I booked a delivery for my mum and was affected by the website and app crash/issue on Monday evening when amending the order for her. It did arrive but late on the Tuesday and this has just made me check my bank account- they haven’t taken the payment for her delivery so just emailed them. See what they say…

ancientgran · 19/08/2022 19:21

It happened to me once with an Iceland order, they phoned me and said they would have it all ready for me if I wanted to collect it. I went round and got it and they said the driver had gone home sick and they couldn't get anyone to finish the deliveries.

Happened once with Sainsbury's when their internet went down, shopping didn't arrive so I phoned and they said it wasn't coming. I went round and did a shop and when I got home my order had been delivered 2 hrs late. I wasn't impressed and no apology. I don't know why DH accepted the delivery when he knew I'd gone to do the shopping myself.

NaeBestPleased · 19/08/2022 19:22

My delivery with my birthday cake and birthday dinner was due to arrive this afternoon. Finally got an email just before 6pm saying that the order had been cancelled. I'm disabled and can't get to the shop myself, so I am more than a little miffed.

arkmatter · 19/08/2022 19:25

My delivery did not appear with no warning from Tesco and it would be nice to have an apologetic email when they are up and running. I'd like to drop them but no other supermarket will deliver here. There are small supermarkets in the local town and the prices are much higher although I use them too.

Digimoor · 19/08/2022 19:25

My order has arrived okay
The driver said his store had cancellations yesterday due to a problem with the IT system migration

ancientgran · 19/08/2022 19:26

Lockheart · 19/08/2022 18:59

Of course. None of those are insurmountable barriers to going to the shops if you absolutely needed to.

But why should she have to if she's been offered a service, accepted it and paid for it. She shouldn't have to and the least they should do is offer click and collect.

ancientgran · 19/08/2022 19:28

fufflecake · 19/08/2022 17:13

Like what? Paper?

That's what happened at Sainsbury's when the internet went down. Don't know how it worked and they said it was taking ages to do it but they did. Shame I'd been and done the shop and ended up with double but that isn't the point.

geraniumthefirst · 19/08/2022 19:30

@ancientgran thank you! That was sort of meant to be my point. The reason I pay for a saver pass is precisely because it's a service offered. And means I don't have to drag an fractious child round the supermarket for two week's worth of shopping.

Yes I can see how annoying it is. When mine were small we didn't have online shopping so we planned accordingly, when they offer the service you obviously don't plan like that.

With mine I appreciated Iceland did the shopping for me and packed it up and let me know I could collect it and apologised. Sainsbury's was just shrug your shoulders and it's tough. I do think they need to learn a bit about customer service.

NaeBestPleased · 19/08/2022 19:44

Does anyone know what's supposed to be happening with the orders that didn't arrive? I have an email saying it's cancelled, but if I log into my account, on the "My orders" page it says delivered, and if I click "View items" that page says order pending.

Twillow · 19/08/2022 19:53

Meklk · 19/08/2022 18:03

I'll never believe it's problem with system or other shit, they probably short of staff. Very short. I had the same experience with Iceland couple of weeks ago, my PAID online order just disappeared, I had to chase for refund.

More or less national. We were picking until 9am then no more trolley labels were printing. So if people got their order it may have been that it was picked by then. The management were basically phoning head office all morning to see when it would be fixed, all the pickers were kept on ready to go but it wasn't fixed by the afternoon. We were all as frustrated as and for the customers, believe me.

Click and collect is the same computer and picking system, just not put on a van.

FredaFox · 19/08/2022 20:00

My order did turn up at 3 on time but the driver said only half his shift were out on the road, he wasn't hopeful the later shift would be out

Merryoldgoat · 19/08/2022 20:07

I stopped using Tesco a while back for this.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 19/08/2022 20:27

Aarh. Poor loves. You might actually have to go into a shop to buy things.

Squashedraddish · 19/08/2022 20:30

Mine ended up getting cancelled- got the email the same time delivery was due. Thankfully was expecting it after seeing this thread otherwise I would have had no idea! Have rebooked for click and collect tomorrow but not sure how likely I’ll be to get it

Tesco184 · 19/08/2022 20:31

NC as outing, I’ve talked about working for a supermarket before. But they are a complete shit show recently. We recently all got new uniforms. And there was a big poster up in a staff corridor saying how we have been given the “opportunity” to wear our own trousers. The picture included people wearing mid coloured denim. We all started wearing jeans and then the poster quickly disappeared and we were told not to.

The covid policy is bonkers. enforced days off even if you are well, with no pay. I know we need to limit the spread but so many people rely on that money and aren’t able to make up the loss in overtime.

They are squeezing everyone in store at the moment. Every team in my shop has had hours budget cut, staff losing overtime (max contract tends to be 30hrs for the favourite few unless you’re management) which many of them rely on. Same work to do with less hours. Huge expectation on us to deliver. Minimum wage increased by 6.2% but our wages only increased by 5.4% (non city centre stores). We’re one of tbe last supermarkets to break £10/hr, many months behind the others.

It feels like they are pushing for an aldi/lidl model but expecting the same high standards they apparently strive for.

In my store it’s common practice for standard colleagues (ie not supervisors or managers) to do jobs way beyond their pay grade, like doing rotas and planning moves on the shop floor.

They can poke it. I’ve planned my resignation as I’m lucky enough to have another job and be able to do without it. I work hard, but I’m not prepared to work at 100 miles an hour for that wage.

Cindie943811A · 19/08/2022 20:36

Commiserations folks.
We gave up on Tesco before lockdown because of the unreliability reported by others here. It got tedious having to call them after nearly every delivery.
Health problems mean we rely on home deliveries .

geraniumthefirst · 19/08/2022 20:36

I keep getting updates on the app and texts saying a later and later time for delivery... in limbo here!

Shall I cut my losses and give up?!?

I do appreciate it is a first world problem, but it's so irritating when you have planned around this.

TheGriffle · 19/08/2022 20:37

Ffs! We’re on holiday in a bloody holiday cottage with nothing in and decided to use Tesco over Sainsburys. Our delivery was due between 8pm and 9pm and no sign of it yet.

That seems needlessly unkind. People may not be able to for a whole variety of legitimate reasons. Or they may just, you know, want the service they paid for…

NaeBestPleased · 19/08/2022 21:31

@WhiteFire Thank you so much.

I did manage to find another supermarket with delivery slots available tomorrow, and my order was cheaper there! (Which means more money for chocolate 😊)
