To wonder why people get long talon nails?

I'm fascinated by the super long, talon-like false nails. Especially the square shaped and the really pointy ones. I thought it would be a short lived statement trend but it's lasted for years now.

Curious about what people like about them? Why do you think they've been so enduring?

I do wonder how they manage to function as normal human beings.

Tidypidy · 19/07/2022 21:35

How do you wipe your bum without doing yourself a mischief?Blush

Tiani4 · 19/07/2022 21:36

They don't

If someone gets crazy long nails they aren't planning to do any washing up nor cleaning up after themselves

I'm not enamoured of the "I can't as I have long nails" excuse

Serious high maintenance Lazy excuse as ... (grumble grumble about lazy people)

Tiani4 · 19/07/2022 21:37

Oooh cross payed don't even start me on how they can clean their ass nor wash
themselves

They are so unappealing.

A580Hojas · 19/07/2022 21:39

I find them repulsive.

itsjustnotok · 19/07/2022 21:40

I personally wouldn’t have them down. They just look horrible and uncomfortable.

dragonflyglaze · 19/07/2022 21:40

I agree. They fascinate me in an ew gross kind of way. They must be so annoying and unhygienic.

practicepracticepractice · 19/07/2022 21:41

How do you get your keys out of your pocket and open the front door? How do you wipe your arse? Pick your nose. Change a tampon / cup? Put on eyeliner.
So many questions.

I do my fair share of washing up and cleaning, decorated an entire house the last few months, and built half a kitchen's worth of cabinets this weekend with long nails. So think you might be making a sweeping generalisation here 😉

EmmiJay · 19/07/2022 21:42

I'm the only adult in my house and I manage to do all of the above mentioned perfectly well. Including doing my DDs hair everyday in braids and twists etc etc. In fact they can be handy but aren't supposed to be used as tools😅 I get the coffin shape and love them😌

ChampagneLassie · 19/07/2022 21:43

The nail salon I used to go to one of the owners always had super long talons... she scratched her eye, got an infection and almost went blind and was off for weeks recovering. Still has her nails though

BobMortimersPocketMeat · 19/07/2022 21:43

I’d be covered in scratches, not least in the most intimate places. I think they look really ugly so I wouldn’t be tempted anyway, but they also seem really unhygienic (imagine the stuff that you’d pick up under them?) and that gives me the boak.

housemaus · 19/07/2022 21:44

I'm fascinated by the responses here. Do you all genuinely think nobody with long nails wipes their own arse, changes tampons, can get keys out of pockets, etc, and we are all just high maintenance weirdos who do literally no normal things for ourselves?

Do none of you have nails past the end of your fingertips, or what? Cos otherwise... it's only as unhygenic as if they were a millimetre or two past the end of your fingers. You just wash your hands and clean under your nails as you would anyway!

bellac11 · 19/07/2022 21:46

They're so repulsive and dirty looking even if they're not dirty looking if you know what I mean

Ive never liked them.

They remind me of Gary Oldman or Nosferatu.

Isittimeformynapyet · 19/07/2022 21:46

How dare you tell people how to wear their nails!!

Only joking OP. I totally understand your curiosity.

Just anticipating a barrage of defensive, long false-nail-wearer's responses.

EmmiJay · 19/07/2022 21:46

To the people saying its unhygenic... Where exactly do you think we're putting our hands exactly?!🤔🤣

Froglett10 · 19/07/2022 21:46

@EmmiJay What do you like about them? Is it the way they look? The way they make you feel? Just curious - I don't despise them or anything, they just fascinate me!

They're gross

Crankley · 19/07/2022 21:47

I was watching Say Yes to the Dress. The mother of the bride had not cut her nails for eleven years. Some had obviously snapped off but others were about six inches long. Quite revolting and no idea how you do anything as basic as bathing or cooking or getting dressed. They don't grow straight, the long ones were twisted.

No, Im fastidious about my nails being really short, they are never longer than the end of my actual finger. I feel sick if I see them any longer.

EmmiJay · 19/07/2022 21:49

They elongate my fingers. I have really small hands and short nails make my fingers look quite child like. Plus they're always done and look presentable to me. I only get neutral colours too.

Fair enough! Horses for courses and all that

Froglett10 · 19/07/2022 21:52

@EmmiJay Interesting, thanks!
