To wonder why people get long talon nails?

I'm fascinated by the super long, talon-like false nails. Especially the square shaped and the really pointy ones. I thought it would be a short lived statement trend but it's lasted for years now.

Curious about what people like about them? Why do you think they've been so enduring?

Not a fan. I imagine great care must be taken when wiping one's arse. Could end up with a rather nasty injury 😉

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 19/07/2022 21:54

I agree. I have to get my nails cut when I get them done as I can't type or anything. When I went last time I was looking at this woman's really long nails in fascination. Mine were really short

Isittimeformynapyet · 19/07/2022 21:56

I keep my nails short-ish and unpainted (I'm a cook) and I'm constantly appalled by how much crud collects under them, even during the night! I'm always on the hunt for the perfect nail brush if anyone has a recommendation??

God knows what's collecting under painted fake nails!

I have a lesbian friend who says talon nails are a no!

Also, I can't imagine picking up dog poo is an easy affair. Must be a huge gamble as to whether you rip the bag and get a scoop of shit under your nail at the same time.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 19/07/2022 21:59

The really long ones look ridiculous
The square cut ones look unfinished and ugly but I quite like a nice oval nail. Its about proportion I guess.

Ugly as fuck and often worn by people with dyed jet black hair and an orange tan

Siameasy · 19/07/2022 22:00

Oh and loads of hideous tattoos
katie price style

Yes I don’t get it either, I’m not keen on the way they look but each to their own. It just looks really uncomfortable and not massively appealing. I’d definitely injure myself.
But then I do nothing with my nails other than keep them neat and tidy. It’s just not something I want or need to spend money on.

Haudyourwheesht · 19/07/2022 22:01

One of my pupils had them (16yo). I asked her how she got anything done: 'you'd be surprised, miss'.

They're so common though. Every time I'm in the nail place every other person is having really long acrylics.

No good if you're with a man who likes a finger up the bum either.

Super long nails aren't to my taste but live and let live in all matters fashion I say.

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/07/2022 22:02

I have short nails, but my family members and friends have them really long (some natural, some fake). They're perfectly capable of working, cleaning their houses, and their arses, driving, typing, farming, DIY, crochet and looking after their children. I have small hands and would love to be able to grow mine.

Why would anyone ssume women with long nails don't do these things?Confused

AllFreeOwls · 19/07/2022 22:03

Because they like them?

Mally100 · 19/07/2022 22:03

I think they are so truly disgusting. The amount of filth they must be storing. Also how do they function with normal, daily tasks.

Prescottdanni123 · 19/07/2022 22:03

I hate them. I see people wearing them and interacting with kids or pets and wonder how they go a whole day without accidentally giving a kid or an animal a serious laceration.

I'm the only adult in my house and I manage to do all of the above mentioned perfectly well. Including doing my DDs hair everyday in braids and twists etc etc. In fact they can be handy but aren't supposed to be used as tools😅 I get the coffin shape and love them😌

Can I ask what job you do?

Haudyourwheesht · 19/07/2022 22:06

They must be more careful than me anyway. If my nails grow for more than a week I start to scratch myself.

springbreak22 · 19/07/2022 22:07

'No, Im fastidious about my nails being really short, they are never longer than the end of my actual finger. I feel sick if I see them any longer'

Hope you have sourced some therapy for this.

Tinktravels · 19/07/2022 22:11

Why are people so bothered about the legnth of someone else's nails 🤣
I always get long and I can't think of one single thing they stop me from doing.

Quite an unnecessary post really isnt it?

How stupid do you have to be to obviously take offence at that for some reason?

Tinktravels · 19/07/2022 22:12

And as for 'unemployed nails' I do my jobs perfectly well with them

SheilaWilde · 19/07/2022 22:13

I think they're awful. Its almost like lessening the full function of your hands on purpose. I hate seeing them on anyone preparing food. So unhygienic. I just want to give them a nail brush.

Titsywoo · 19/07/2022 22:17

I wouldn't like them myself. I keep my nails short as my job is very physical (lots of lifting etc at a fast speed) and I would be breaking them constantly if they were more than a mm or 2 past the end of my finger. I haven't had fake nails so no idea how strong they are but I would think you have to be a bit more delicate and I am ham fisted so just couldn't do it Grin

springbreak22 · 19/07/2022 22:18

Not offended just concerned that you have got help for your issues. Plenty of resources online Smile

femfemlicious · 19/07/2022 22:18

Nosferatu😂😂😂

I uaed to get acrylics back when i was a youngun. Nothing as long as the current trends. Wouldnt dream of it now.

Also they totally damage the nails.
