Picture attached. This is the exact cake from the cake shop I went into today. It is 6 inches and serves 8-10 people.

I just want to know if my expectations are way off as I was extremely shocked at the price.

It looks quite amateur, drips are very runny and it looks wonky so maybe someone just getting into baking.

Sexnotgender · 07/07/2022 20:42

About £30 probably.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/07/2022 20:42

£45? I am always surprised at the cost of cakes even though I know the ingredients, time and expertise take a lot.

Windbeneathmybingowings · 07/07/2022 20:42

Turkish shop near me, £25. A normal cake lady, if it’s filled with fresh cream, £60?

ARatherAwkwardOuting · 07/07/2022 20:42

£45? Macarons alone can be pretty pricy.

devonianBiatch · 07/07/2022 20:42

Home made macarons are £2-3 each. And the cake on top. If it's a proper posh bakery then £50 but if it's a slightly more upmarket chain like greenhaulghs (?) then. £28 ish. From marks maybe £20?

Sanfranciscobabe · 07/07/2022 20:42

£40-50

PeopleRStrange · 07/07/2022 20:43

I’d say £40, although I’m upset at the odd number of macaron

peonyjam · 07/07/2022 20:43

£45 because the macarons are expensive

TheDepthsOfDespair · 07/07/2022 20:43

£40 ish…. It’s not the best finish.

Livingjusttolive · 07/07/2022 20:43

No more than £30

ARatherAwkwardOuting · 07/07/2022 20:43

£50 wouldn't surprise me either with that many macarons on top.

berksandbeyond · 07/07/2022 20:43

It's £35 from Pat Val..

I think that's a fair price

SlashBeef · 07/07/2022 20:43

£30? It's not hugely impressive.

RitzyMcFee · 07/07/2022 20:44

Eleven macarons.

£45

ARatherAwkwardOuting · 07/07/2022 20:44

And now I want chocolate cake.

Itsadilema22 · 07/07/2022 20:44

About £30

Tiredandtense · 07/07/2022 20:44

£50 was my initial guess.

Theonewiththecandles · 07/07/2022 20:45

I would say around £50. Macarons are a hell of a lot of work!
