Am I naive to think Boris PM knows something we don’t know?

Exactly that! The man is being shamed, people are resigning left right and centre (no pun intended). Am I thinking Boris out of possible concern for the country knows something we don’t know and wonders if he is actually the best of a bad bunch?

or is he so egotistical, so consumed by his own worth that he actually hasn’t got a clue!

I’m trying to work out why he’s clinging on for dear life!

What on earth are you talking about

BiFoldChampion · 06/07/2022 15:13

I’m trying to work out why he’s holding on!

It's your second point - he's a sociopathic narcissist, probably believing that all these resignations are against him as the victim, and will try to cling on for as long as possible. He's a smart, very dangerous man.

waveyourpompoms · 06/07/2022 15:14

There’s no need for him to resign just because others have.

JudgeRindersMinder · 06/07/2022 15:15

He’s a narcissist. Look it up in the dictionary and there’s a photo of him!

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 06/07/2022 15:15

Because he can and, as is being discussed elsewhere here, the rush to change the law to force him into another VONC will have long reaching consequences.

A group of unelected people with untrammeled power to remove a PM?

I bet Sturgeon would leap upon the chance to finagle it into a referendum, until she gets the right answer.

And many other things that would change the nature of politics in the UK/GB

PurpleDaisies · 06/07/2022 15:16

He still thinks he can turn it around. He really is that deluded.

PurpleDaisies · 06/07/2022 15:16

They are all elected.

On your point about Sturgeon - she already tweeted earlier words to that effect!

Gove has told him to go

BiFoldChampion · 06/07/2022 15:19

They are unelected as isn’t it members of the Conservative Party - so that’s Terry and Jude in Sussex not the MPs?

OP posts:
Iamnotamermaid · 06/07/2022 15:24

To prove a point / out do Dominic Cummings? Hmm

Rolledhemsandtreadlemachines88 · 06/07/2022 15:25

No op! He’s a sociopath !

Life is a game and as long as the outcome benefits him, that’s all that matters. That is why he is holding on, completely without shame.

Just out of interest, bc your theory is so « out there », what sort of thing were you thinking he knows and we don’t? Do you mean something like an attack by Russia? Or another more serious mutation of Covid? Or …?

Vallmo47 · 06/07/2022 15:26

Because some people always outstay their welcome OP.

Give has been suspiciously quiet of late hasn’t he.

Rolledhemsandtreadlemachines88 · 06/07/2022 15:27

Gove not Give!

Numbat2022 · 06/07/2022 15:30

He wants to be World King. Prime Minister is the closest he's got so far, so he's clinging to it. Everything he does (in both his personal and political life) is to benefit himself and his ego.

Plus he has zero morals and is a sociopath. The checks and balances we have in the English parliamentary system simply do not stand up to someone who absolutely will not resign, no matter what they've done.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing him being dragged out of No. 10. I don't know how else they're going to get rid.

If you’re asking about who can do a ‘no confidence vote’, only MPs can (who are all elected). The vote is overseen by the 1922 Committee, a group in Parliament made up of MPs who are elected to that group. So everyone involved in the process is elected.

ChipsRoastOrBoiled · 06/07/2022 15:31

It's clear from Rishi Sunak's resignation letter that Johnson was, and likely still is, going to lie to us about the seriousness of our economic situation, in the joint statement they were due to give shortly.
Speaks volumes to me. Johnson will say and do anything to stay PM. He' thinks he's some sort of god.

The vote of no confidence is of conservative mps who have all been elected.

5128gap · 06/07/2022 15:32

Given his office, I'd hope he knows a lot that I don't know. However, I fear that may be optimistic, and the sum total of his knowledge is somewhat less than that of the caretaker's cat.
(Who i understand significantly exceeds him in skills, integrity, and understanding of the economy)

Welshrarebit75 · 06/07/2022 15:33

He’s a hybristic, immoral, narcissist whose arrogance makes him believe all the normal rules don’t apply to him.

Not much to work out but the next few days/weeks will be an interesting watch as “Rome burns whilst he fiddles”.

JohannSebastianBach · 06/07/2022 15:36

He presumably knows how many children he has fathered but I don't think he'll ever tell

BiFoldChampion · 06/07/2022 15:36

I guess I’m thinking yes - something national security related. I can’t be sure.

it adds up on the sociopath/narc front. My grandfather was a similar man.

I wouldn’t presume anything…
