Am I naive to think Boris PM knows something we don’t know?

Exactly that! The man is being shamed, people are resigning left right and centre (no pun intended). Am I thinking Boris out of possible concern for the country knows something we don’t know and wonders if he is actually the best of a bad bunch?

or is he so egotistical, so consumed by his own worth that he actually hasn’t got a clue!

I’m trying to work out why he’s clinging on for dear life!

He's an egotistical, narcissist maniac. Probably always got his own way and never, ever believes he's done anything wrong. If you honestly think he's clinging on because he's concerned about the country then you need to give your head a wobble.

MigsandTiggs · 06/07/2022 17:38

"I guess I’m thinking yes - something national security related. I can’t be sure." OP

I think it is most likely to be about ineptitude and corruption under BJ's watch. The country is facing a perfect storm of recession, more money needed to help people and prop up the economy, an NHS staffing crisis, 40 year high inflation rate with food and fuel poverty. Dealing with stagflation will be difficult enough without the added mill stone of an ambitious, self-interested, posturing PM more invested in stoking his image as Ukraine's staunchest ally. (I have nothing against Ukraine, just BJ). The additional debt the government will have to take on will be so high our great grandchildren will be paying it off.

Rishi probably wanted to state the unpopular truth, while BJ likely wanted to bluster his way, as usual, with more lies and deception. If Boris had a shred of empathy, responsibility and moral integrity, he would resign for the good of the country. My overseas friends call him the British Trump; that says it all really.😢

Hang on, Johnson has/had a hairdresser. 😂
She must have been rubbish at her job!!

I’m not sure she was employed for her prowess with a comb

urbanbuddha · 06/07/2022 17:43

Conservative MPs are elected. Terry and June are not.

Feelfreetocallme · 06/07/2022 17:47

He knows the tories can do as they see fit and get away with it because the public will vote for them regardless. I mean it was well known what he was like and people still voted for him.. what do y’all expect?

Baggyeye · 06/07/2022 17:47

torfa · 06/07/2022 17:36

He idolises Churchill and wants his legacy to be that he's revered as the "covid PM" the way Churchill is revered as the "WWII PM"

I can't see how he can hang on but I can't seem him voluntarily going either.

I know one thing, no matter how shitty my next shitty day at work is, at least it wont be as shitty as 6th July 2022 has been for Boris Johnson. I mean this is the absolute pinnacle of a shit day at work 😂

He cocked up ALL the management of Covid until the scientists saved everyones asses!

He is reaping what he has sown. Can't wait to see his next policy announcement tomorrow - he's flying to Mars perhaps? - but unfortunately for him the tactic of shouting look over there or telling us all to 'move on' finally seems to have reached the end of the long & winding road.

Regularsizedrudy · 06/07/2022 17:48

…naive is an incredibly generous word for what you are being

jeffbezoz · 06/07/2022 17:49

They are trying to abolish the current human rights act.. the resignations are just a massive distraction

reesewithoutaspoon · 06/07/2022 17:51

He's hanging on because he believes it's his right. This was his ambition from a young child to be Prime Minister of the UK. He's a useless, self-serving, corrupt lying, narcissist. He's no interest in actually doing the job of prime minister. Just wants the kudos and title.
He was a remainer, who suddenly became a leaver when it suited his political ambition, he's spent decades positioning himself to take the PM role and he's not going to give it up easily.

Benjispruce4 · 06/07/2022 17:51

How can he be revered as Covid PM? He was shocking! He just happened to be PM.

saddowizca · 06/07/2022 17:51

I imagine he has got used to a certain life-style and is wondering how he will live without this position.
I can't imagine he has any finer feeling at all about duty to the country. He's morally bankrupt IMO.

Baggyeye · 06/07/2022 17:53

Just watching Javid's statement on news - ouch, he's off BJ & Carrie's christmas card list

SisterSatan · 06/07/2022 17:53

I am so glad he is holding on. The more damage and the more likely he is to say"It's me or a General election" the more likely we can get these cunts out of power before they destroy what little is left of this country.

Benjispruce4 · 06/07/2022 17:54

I did laugh at Starmer’s comments at PMQs.

He's totally obsessed with Churchill. I think he's always had in his mind that he wants to be the Queen's final PM, so he and Churchill will always be mentioned in all the history books as bookending her reign.

@Baggyeye Yes he did, but he's convinced himself otherwise, so I reckon he's hanging on until (in his mind) this all blows over.
Ironically given that he's constantly harping on about "getting the job done" his refusal to resign is actually stopping that happening because they're all so bloody distracted by all this mess.

Agree with this, and also think he is hanging on incase if WW3 then in his mind he's Churchhill.

These Public School Types are so competitive in everything they do. Job, Army, Sport, conversation and spreading on the tube to occupy more space.

WeAreBob · 06/07/2022 15:42

The people involved in removing him are all elected MPs in the conservative party.

As a side note, we don't elect a prime minister in this country. We elect MPs. The party with the most MPs takes leadership of the government. The party elect their leader. That's who we get as prime minister.

We didnt elect the prime minister. We don't actually get a say in who the prime minister is. We vote for our MP.

If the party with majority decides to change their leadership and, as a result, we get a different prime minister then we can't really complain and say we voted for that PM. We didnt. It is up to the party who they want as leader, not a public vote.

The difference i

Exactly. We have a PM not a President. I think some posters on here don’t see the difference between the two. The PM isn’t an elected head of state (the Queen is still head of state), they’re the leader of the largest party following a general election.

There have been several PMs elected this way, including John Major, Gordon Brown and Theresa May.

Benjispruce4 · 06/07/2022 18:03

He’ll be fighting on the streets in Ukraine tomorrow and hopefully taking Putin out. At least that’s his only hope!

QuebecBagnet · 06/07/2022 18:05

Ke knows he’s not the best thing either for his party or country but he’s so egotistical and selfish he doesn’t care. He will only do what suits him.

I think you're right actually and that angle hadn't occurred to me re: the Queen. I think he is quite delusional on this point. Churchill had big faults but also great strengths and there is seriously no comparison, no equivalence (I also think as PM he would have kicked BJ into touch very quickly)

Baggyeye · 06/07/2022 18:13

What's disgusting is that Johnson has been acting like this forever for months since pre-partygate and the rest of his party have only just realised this about his character 🙄

Grant Shapps AKA Michael Green has gone in to tell him to go

Baggyeye · 06/07/2022 18:15

Actually it's been death of a 1000 paper cuts since Cummings went if not before that. Surely, he can't enjoy seeing his popularity slipping away more each day?

tightrope88 · 06/07/2022 15:13

It's your second point - he's a sociopathic narcissist, probably believing that all these resignations are against him as the victim, and will try to cling on for as long as possible. He's a smart, very dangerous man.

Definitely this. He’s never in his life done something for the good of the country. He is dedicated only to the career, wealth and status of Boris Alexander de Pfeffel Johnson.
