Am I naive to think Boris PM knows something we don’t know?

Exactly that! The man is being shamed, people are resigning left right and centre (no pun intended). Am I thinking Boris out of possible concern for the country knows something we don’t know and wonders if he is actually the best of a bad bunch?

or is he so egotistical, so consumed by his own worth that he actually hasn’t got a clue!

I’m trying to work out why he’s clinging on for dear life!

He finally admitted in the Liaison Committee yesterday to meeting an Ex-KGB spy without officials when Foreign Secretary. I bet there’s lots he knows that we don’t!

But it’s all stuff that would incriminate him, rather than endanger us. I hope this isn’t brushed over when he goes. The damage Johnson has done to our constitution transcends party politics.

Whoop whoop party time!!! Cheered me right up.😁

I foresee another baby

Some wag on twitter the other day said Boris was probably looking into the possibility of impregnating Zelensky.

Blossomtoes · 07/07/2022 15:21

I foresee a swift move on to a younger, richer, more powerful man.

I'm assuming you mean Rishi.
That would be even worse for most people because the 'sweeties' would stop and we would be back in austerity land (unless you are a hedge fund manager or banker, obviously).

BadAtMaths2 · 07/07/2022 15:29

According to the Mirror he's hanging on because him and Carrie are having a belated wedding bash at Chequers in a few weeks....www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-wife-carrie-host-27422792

Telegraph says he'll pay the bill..(or someone will for him).

Of course I don’t mean Sunak. There are far richer, more powerful men outside the Westminster bubble.

No idea who you are talking about here. Does this refer to an earlier post or something? Looking at the potential candidates, Rishi is young, rich and powerful.
Anyway, no need to be rude.

I wasn’t rude. I was responding to someone who foresaw Carrie having another baby. Nothing to do with candidates for PM.

rainingsnoring · 07/07/2022 19:19

@Blossomtoes - sorry, total misunderstanding. I agree about Carrie moving on to someone who can afford £100,000 to wallpaper her new home.

BiFoldChampion · 06/07/2022 15:19

They are unelected as isn’t it members of the Conservative Party - so that’s Terry and Jude in Sussex not the MPs?

What on earth do you mean?

CPL593H · 07/07/2022 21:11

I'm sure Carrie could find someone else if she chose, she's a perfectly OK looking young woman but she's not Helen of Troy and her main accomplishment to date is being married to Boris.

FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith · 07/07/2022 21:18

@CPL593H “accomplishment” very definitely worthy of inverted commas in this instance. 😊

Rishi Sunak is smart and rich, powerful?, he can certainly choose how to spend his money without many worries but the real power lies with his wife and her father. Although he is an excellent communicator, personally I don’t think he is right for PM, he as had a lot of flack because of his families wealth, he may not even be a candidate.

Who?, no idea yet, depends who the MPs propose, someone squeaky clean, which excludes a lot of the current bunch.

Octomore · 08/07/2022 07:47

I'm not aware that Rishi Sunak is looking for a wife/mistress though? 😂

That PP was talking about who Carrie might move on to next, rather than who might be next PM.

Agree that most of Sunak's power comes through his wife's family. I'm not keen on Sunak as a potential leader (although the I'm not keen on any of this lot).

IMO, what the county needs is the opposite of what it votes for. We need non-populist, boring, competent leadership from someone with plenty of solid professional experience. Starmer, in other words.

Populist Oxbridge then think tank graduates who become career politicians have done the country no favours at all, yet that's what seems to be on offer.

Daftasabroom · 08/07/2022 08:03

@BiFoldChampion Unfortunately I think you're right on both counts, he's a sociopathic narcissist and scarily probably one of the better ones of a bad bunch. Some of the policy directions coming from candidates yesterday included more spending cuts, rowing back on net zero, reduced aid to Ukraine. Politically Boris was not so hard right wing as many of those around him.

Crazykatie · 08/07/2022 09:05

My comment was in response to Sunak being powerful, rich, yes, powerful no.

Carrie with kids is not especially attractive, Johnson is going to continue be a good earner, Journalism and a book with his memoirs and an expose’ will sell well. She will stay until his philandering returns.

Octomore · 08/07/2022 11:05

She might even stay after the philandering starts up again. I can well envisage her sacrificing her dignity for the money.

Did you see the video footage of the advisor behind him while he was getting quizzed?

Practically comatose through "Did you meet him??' "When did you meet him?" "Do you remember meeting him?" etc until it got to "Where did you meet him?" then he snapped to attention in a heartbeat and quickly wrote "STOP TALKING" and passed it to Johnson.

who stopped talking.

There is obviously something very incriminating about "where" . . .

Philandering has already started (probably never stopped).

Rumour is a violinist and a pregnant hairdresser (hard to believe he has a hairdresser - not hard to believe she's not hired to do his hair)

Runnerbeansflower · 08/07/2022 17:15

He admitted it was in Italy, while he was on holiday.

And implied he had reported the contact without quite saying he definitely reported it, so he couldn't be held to it if (when?) it turns out he kept it quiet...

FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith · 08/07/2022 18:02

@Emotionalsupportviper @Runnerbeansflower I really hope this doesn’t get lost in the drama (which of course I’m enjoying too!) and is properly investigated. Ditto that the security services advised against making Lebdev junior a Lord.

His statement on undeclared meetings is now part of the public record and the allegations published by The Times, if found to be true, are so serious. We’re not out of the woods until everything is laid bare.
