Partner goes shooting almost 5 to 6 days a week

been with my partner for a year, for the last 3months he’s been going shooting from 5pm till 11:30pm, and occasionally when he’s off work or weekend he will go all night and come back in the morning about 11am something 3pm in the afternoon. I’m not comfortable with this as I don’t feel that give us any time together.

l work till 4 and have school age kids from previous relationship so I’m the week I’m ready to chill with partner by 8pm. My partner work at home and finish mostly between 5 and 6pm and that is when he have a shower and prepare to go out.

I really don’t understand this shooting and hunting habit. When I met him I know he was into this but thought he only do it few days in a week as mostly he would be at mine by 8pm for just us to have a nice time. This is before we start leaving together about 5 months ago.

He wouldn’t take me out anywhere, anything I suggest he would make excuses so I give up asking. on the other hand I do all the cooking and most house work. I have to cook as I have kids in the house.

please let me know if this is normal relationship for him to go out almost every night and sometimes don’t come home.

You've only been going out here he's already doing this?? Fuck that he is not a keeper.
Why on earth are you staying with him? You doing all the housework and he's never there. I hope he hasn't moved in with you yet.

LubaLuca · 04/05/2022 07:29

Of course it isn't normal, you must know that by looking at the arrangements of friends and family. What's he shooting?

JustSoStory · 04/05/2022 07:30

Boyfriends having a hobby is one thing. Moving in with someone who has hobbies is altogether different. Shooting is a very time consuming hobby and often involves them spending time in the garage butchering meat.

LightningAndRainbows · 04/05/2022 07:31

Why are you still with him? You're getting nothing from him. What's he shooting?! Is he bringing back dead meat for you? If not are you sure he is going hunting and doesn't have some kind of secret lover?

TomAllenWife · 04/05/2022 07:32

I would guess that he's not shooting

He's got another relationship

Please value yourself more

TottersBlankly · 04/05/2022 07:32

Simply put, you’re not compatible.

Perhaps you moved in together a little too soon - before you actually knew him?

Anyway, it’s only been a short relationship so far. Move out, re-establish your own independent life and then see if you want to continue the relationship living separately.

Really no need to waste time asking ‘why’ he does what he does, or trying to change him.

(By the way, where do you live? Does he shoot socially or is he training for the Olympics??)

BHX3000 · 04/05/2022 07:32

You moved him in after being together for what, 6-7 months? You moved him in with your children?

katkit · 04/05/2022 07:32

No, not normal, particularly if you are stuck at home with small kid. You need to get out of this.

WhereisWallyFFS · 04/05/2022 07:32

Yes. Totally normal and infuriating. I’m mostly sick of having to gather the berries while he gets to hunt. I’m always the one who has to clean the skins to make clothes too. Don’t even get me started on clearing up the flint bits from him making his spears. Drives me bonkers.

GrazingSheep · 04/05/2022 07:33

Is he in your house or are you in his ?

DiamondBright · 04/05/2022 07:33

I'm confused, does he live with you?

PonyPatter44 · 04/05/2022 07:35

Move out. Dont even bother arguing. You moved too quickly, he's not who you thought he was, end of.

KangarooKenny · 04/05/2022 07:35

Course he is 🤣🤣🤣

Indoorcamping · 04/05/2022 07:36

A few issues here.

You've been together a year and living together 5 months. Quick to move in anyway but with kids that's madness.

He won't go out anywhere with you.

He goes "shooting" multiple times a week including overnight.

You do all the housework & cooking.

Please tell me you're not paying for most everything as well?

Bluntly. He's a user. He's got the free housekeeper, help with the bills, sex on tap. Now he's off out to enjoy himself.

Do you still have your own place to go back to?

SinaraSmith · 04/05/2022 07:36

He is out legally shooting? At night?

let’s say he is shooting, I would bet he isn’t doing it legally.

But he isn’t shooting. so either he is engaged in illegal activity or is seeing someone else. Where does he keep his gun?

I hope this is a joke, deigned to whip people into a frenzy. Who moves their kids in with someone they have been dating a few months?

Tigertigertigertiger · 04/05/2022 07:39

What’s he shooting ? Does he have a dog?

Why are you with him?

Lmmaaoooo

BitOutOfPractice · 04/05/2022 07:45

He’s out shooting all night? That seems mighty strange to me. But I know nothing about shooting or hunting - I can’t think of a less attractive hobby.

yes, you moved on far too quickly, before you knew him. He’s got the perfect set up really now hasn’t he? Someone to do all the housework and share costs while he does exactly what he likes.

I think you need to be much more cautious for yourself and tutor child, in future.

5foot5 · 04/05/2022 07:45

Regardless of what the "hobby" is, anyone who spends his much of their time on a private pursuit is not a good bet for a relationship. Did you really need to ask this?

My guess is that you moved in with him because I think if you are keeping a gun legally there are rules about how and where it is kept

ClinkeyMonkey · 04/05/2022 07:46

Shooting? Until 11.30 at night? Is he a poacher? Hmmm ...
