To think if you vote Tory now…

You’re effectively propping up this absolute shit show of a government and have no empathy.

I’ll be honest, I’ve voted conservative before as a middle class family their (taxation) policies have suited me more than Labour. I honestly feel ashamed of this and I wish I could’ve seen that the conservatives agenda of ‘levelling up’ is BS.

Regardless of your personal situation, enough is enough now right? People are reliant on food banks, they’re choosing between heating and eating. Austerity has been a total nightmare for society causing the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer.

I’m not ashamed to vote Conservative, I don’t need to justify myself to you so I’m not gonna.

GeneLovesJezebel · 12/04/2022 21:52

There were many people breaking the rules where I live. And, shock horror, I walked my dog twice a day in lockdown.
I’m not saying what they did was ok, but if Labour were in charge now it would be stuff they did wrong in the news.
They are all as bad as each other.

FrankLeeSpeaking · 12/04/2022 21:52

Well, if this isn't the last straw, I don't know what is.
But I've said that several times, and yet they still manage a new low every few months, so...

A random person walking their dog is not the same as the people who set the laws, ignoring them. They have basically said the rules are for us peasants and they can do what they like.

I mean, if you are OK with that, fine, I guess.

AlternativePerspective · 12/04/2022 21:53

I’ve never voted Tory and I never will. But I think that throwing around guilt trips and insults really achieves nothing.

Reality is that every single government acts in some way or another that the electorate doesn’t agree with, and I guarantee that in a few years time if labour come to power, people will be posting the same kinds of threads about them, maybe on a different matter, but there will 100% be criticism of whichever government is in power.

Is that you, Boris?
jgw1 · 12/04/2022 21:54

The thing is this. Boris knows what a woman is, mostly they are useful to him for a variety of purposes including to take the blame when he has done something wrong.

SherbetDips · 12/04/2022 21:54

@HoobleDooble haha nope

Frankly I would negatively judge anyone who votes Tory. Always have.

He's scrambling for votes anywhere he can. Don't be fooled. He doesn't give a crap, but he knows people feel strongly about it. If he thought it would give him more votes, he'd have gone for the other side.

No. No they are not all as bad as the Conservatives. Anyone would be better.
JayAlfredPrufrock · 12/04/2022 21:56

So who are you going to vote for?

Linguini · 12/04/2022 21:56

I'd still rather the Tories get in than labour right now, sorry shoot me.

AlternativePerspective · 12/04/2022 21:57

Is that you, Boris? this line is tedious. More people vote Tory than don’t. I don’t and never will, but that doesn’t change the fact that others do.

And to be honest I don’t think there’s a credible opposition so rather than give my vote to anyone else I would prefer to spoil my ballot

jgw1 · 12/04/2022 21:57

52% of voters think you are being unreasonable.

It is the will of the people that Boris remains Prime Joker for ever.

SherbetDips · 12/04/2022 21:57

@SpringHasSprungYay really that’s a shame. So you have no friends who are Right wing?

GeneLovesJezebel · 12/04/2022 21:57

Didn’t Jeremy Corbin have a family meal when he shouldn’t have ? And I don’t care about that either.

FrankLeeSpeaking · 12/04/2022 21:59

@JayAlfredPrufrock

So who are you going to vote for?
My very nice and very competent local independent candidate, if he stands again. He won't win the seat, of course. But I'll chuck him a vote anyway.
MangyInseam · 12/04/2022 21:59

Given that COL is through the roof everywhere, I don't think you can really blame that on the Tories specifically.

In the end you can only look at the specific policy plans and also the people running locally, and choose what seems best on balance. Sometimes none of them seem very compelling.

Grilledaubergines · 12/04/2022 22:00

So now you’ve seen the light, everyone else needs to?

I’ve voted for all 3 main parties at various stages. People vote for their own reasons and no one has all right to insist otherwise.

At the last general election 43.6% of those who voted, voted Conservative, which as far as I understand maths means that far more people didn't vote Tory than did.
Stripyhoglets1 · 12/04/2022 22:00

They are not all as bad as each other. Kier starmer would not have slowed boozy no.10 work parties during covid or broken rules he made. He just wouldn't.

He needs to be clear Labour will keep the sex based exemptions in the EA though.

I'm fed up of people saying they are as bad as each other- they really aren't.

AlternativePerspective · 12/04/2022 22:00

And tbh, I don’t know why people are getting worked up about this again now. Boris didn’t resign at the time all the pictures came out, all that has happened is that fines have been issued, but we knew about the parties months ago, nothing new has emerged here so it’s a bit disingenuous to say that there’s something new every few months or “just when I thought they couldn’t stoop any lower,” etc.

FrankLeeSpeaking · 12/04/2022 22:00

Thats not true. The Tories got 43.6% at the last GE- a majority voted for other candidates. First past the post fucks over everybody.
