To think if you vote Tory now…

You’re effectively propping up this absolute shit show of a government and have no empathy.

I’ll be honest, I’ve voted conservative before as a middle class family their (taxation) policies have suited me more than Labour. I honestly feel ashamed of this and I wish I could’ve seen that the conservatives agenda of ‘levelling up’ is BS.

Regardless of your personal situation, enough is enough now right? People are reliant on food banks, they’re choosing between heating and eating. Austerity has been a total nightmare for society causing the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer.

There are all sorts of reasons for choosing who to vote for.

Policies
Candidate
Action on constituency issues
Party leader

And as all the opposition are also useless and don't speak to my issues I have no idea who I'll vote for,

MurielSpriggs · 12/04/2022 23:38

YANBU. In an election if you vote Conservative you are propping up the Conservative government.

Blossomtoes · 12/04/2022 23:38

“At least they know what a woman is” has just replaced “Yeah, but Corbyn”. Any woman who thinks the Tories give a rat’s arse about women’s rights is deluded.

Nanny0gg · 12/04/2022 23:38

@BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ

Yep. But you’re going to get a pile-on of Tory Scum pretty soon saying that “at least the Conservatives know what a woman is” and calling Angela Rayner thick. You can’t argue with these scumbags.
Yes. That will really sway opinions

And people wonder why the Tories keep winning...

Trampitt · 12/04/2022 23:39

@SpringHasSprungYay

Frankly I would negatively judge anyone who votes Tory. Always have.
Even though it's a secret ballot and you don't know how they voted?
Nanny0gg · 12/04/2022 23:39

@DragonOverTheMoon

Labour should be such a credible opposition right now. The torys have fucked up so many times. But they're not. They squabble amongst themselves, they can't agree on what a woman is - pathetic imo. I really liked Lammy before he basically said any women who cares about their sex based rights are like racists. They like to portray that they're etter than the tories but they're not. They behaved, as a party, awful to Jeremy Corbyn. It wasn't just the press that screwed him over. I really dislike Jess Phillips who says what she thinks people will like her for saying and is pretty cowardly imo.

If Gordon Brown came back I'd vote for him. I really liked his work as the chancellor and then as PM. But again party squabbling came down around him. Pathetic that the very people that run the country squabble and tell tales like little children.

The Tories can't agree what a woman is?
Narcoanonymoose · 12/04/2022 23:39

@lifeturnsonadime but you are going to vote tory ? You are surely quite happy with the state of affairs. Faux outrage about poverty surely from someone who can obviously afford to heat her house and feed her kids.. And once the tories cancel self I D what next ? More austerity ? Tweaks to abortion legislation ?
Brexit all over again, turkeys voting for christmas...

Tory Scum?

I'm just the mother of an autistic girl who is worried about her future under a labour government that would tell her she's a boy and result in her muliating her body and sterilising her.

That makes me a scum bag?

I've never voted Tory in my life but WILL NOT vote a labour government that is actively harming vulnerable children and women.

MorrisZapp · 12/04/2022 23:41

Ah the hardy perennial 'I used to vote Tory but I just can't now, they've gone too far!'.

We'll see what proportion of 'used to vote Tories' change their vote soon enough.

I haven't said that I am voting Tory.

I have said that there is no viable opposition.

Do you not realise the harm that Labour will do to girls like my daughter and the most vunerable women in society.

If you could give me just ONE solid policy that they have to counter austerity it would help but I have never seen a single one.

I am so so so disappointed by the Labour Party.

Now that's opened my eyes. Grin

Nothing like being called scum to make one vote for Labour. Winning argument, indeed, then again, it's the only one some of them can come up with.

DragonOverTheMoon · 12/04/2022 23:43

Oh and I'm not a middle class in a bubble feminist.

I'm a working class single mum and would not have survived then thrived without tax credits so I could go to uni and get a decent enough career. One where I work with very deprived people.

I went round leafleting for JC.

I still wouldnt vote Labour atm. The women being raped by men in womens prison are also very deprived.

They don't have to.

It's enough to KNOW that the Labour Party will enforce SELF ID and transition therapy which is akin to eugenics when it comes to autistic girls like my daughter.

Narcoanonymoose · 12/04/2022 23:50

@Nanny0gg. The tories keep winning because some randomer off MN comes out with a tedious insult ?
The name changing that goes on on this site prevents us from knowing where anyone's loyalties lie. The tories are well known for their manipulation of social media. God knows how many are activists fron HQ stirring things up for effect.

Narcoanonymoose · 12/04/2022 23:51

@lifeturnsonadime ridiculous hyperbole.

Was Angela Rayner a randomer off MN as well?

Oh we're all bots. Where have I heard that before?

No I'm just a woman and the mother of an extremely vulnerable girl who the Labour Party doesn't give a fuck about.

Nor do the Tories for that matter.

But I won't blame the Tories for the fact that the Labour Party can't mount a viable opposition against the ONLY Prime Minister ever convicted of a criminal offence. That's on Labour, they ought to be ashamed of themselves.

lifeturnsonadime · 12/04/2022 23:54

Vile, my daughter is not ridiculous hyperbole.

Do you actually. realise how offensive that is?

hayley037 · 12/04/2022 23:54

Tories are generally selfish people who have hatred in their hearts in some form or another. They fundamentally lack kindness and empathy. End of the day why would anyone who had a heart vote for a party which historically and currently increases poverty, demonises the poor, immigrants and other minority groups. I haven't even mentioned their general disdain of public spending on things like healthcare, education, transport and other things that have a multiplier effect on society and the economy.

Generally Conservatives don't like progression - the clue is in the name 'conservative', it is the essentially the opposite of progressive. Some people do like the fact we still have a feudal system and even though they don't sit anywhere near the upper ends of society at least they take comfort in the fact there is someone worse off.

Unfortunately I don't think I will see the end of them in my lifetime which will only come about when England wakes up to fact we have a 18th century electoral system which is rigged to keep them and those they represent in power. For that to happen the progressives would have to unite in the same way that the Tories are able to unite the regressive vote.

I did have high hopes in the late 90's that it might happen when the internet went mainstream and people could become better informed and it was easier to actually find out the truth about things but it feels everything has become more polarised and tribal.

Kipperandarthur · 12/04/2022 23:55

Whilst I certainly don’t consider this government to be held in high regard, there’s no way I would vote for a Labour government with socialist views and the politics of envy.

People work hard and pay their taxes. Tax isn’t a popular vote winner and never has been. But why under a labour government should people who have studied, worked their way up the ladder, made sacrifices and tried to better themselves be penalised even more through the tax system to pay crippling taxes to “equal” things out since they already do this.

Boris is a shit show, I agree. But at the end of the day Rishi Sunak tackled covid and put in place immediately furlough and grants to support the economy. Now there’s inflation on the back of covid and a war in Ukraine, all things beyond our control, he’s utterly hated. Ok so he’s wealthy but so what, so is Keir Starmer. I would much rather have someone like Sunak as chancellor than the shadow nonentity.

We all have a vote and opinions. Yours is yours and mine is mine.

Life don’t let it get to you. Pp are in full on abuse mode, just switch off to it. For your dd Flowers

Narcoanonymoose · 12/04/2022 23:59

I'm as much against self ID as anyone but to believe that the tories care about women is laughable.
Transwomen are in female prisons now. A man raped a female prisoner under tory watch. Transwomen are competing now under a tory government. But it's labour's fault ?

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 13/04/2022 01:27

It baffles me that people rate Keir Starmer. When he first took over the labour leadership I thought he might have something about him, but he’s such a drip.

I'm not a Labour voter (I'm SNP), but I reckon that Starmer is going by the old maxim of 'never interrupt your enemy when they're making mistakes'.

And they are. Lots and lots of huge ones. He's waiting them out.

rolllan · 13/04/2022 02:40

If labour had anyone better than Jeremy Corbin I would have voted for them. Absolutely hate current government but don't regret it.
