Mrs Hinch showing off house renovations

First off, I'd like to say yes I am a bit jealous as I really wish I wasn't worrying and stressing about the increasing heating bills etc. but seeing Mrs Hinch showing off the full downstairs underfloor heating she's having fitted just now is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I'm having a late lunch having some soup and wrapped in a hoodie AND a hoodie blanket as I've had to switch off my heating during the day to save money and keep it at bare minimum in the evenings.

I just feel she should be a bit mindful that loads of her followers might be feeling a bit crap about it with the increase in bills etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's great she can afford to do it and her new house is lovely, but I just think she should be thinking twice about posting updates of all the expensive work she's having done! I have since muted her stories so I can't see them lol!

I'm also curious to know how much the full mutual in Rons room cost lol!

YABU - get a grip, the energy bills crisis is not that big a deal

YANBU - she should maybe think twice before posting.

YABU only because you dont have to follow her and watch her stories.

The energy bills are a total nightmare but you cant begrudge people who simply dont have that worry - could start saying that about everything and anything then.

Thedogscollar · 30/03/2022 14:56

YANBU. Mrs H has got very rich off the back of a lot of less well off people.
Tacky and inconsiderate I'd say given the current economic climate we are living in.
Not interested in Mrs H or any other rich "influencers" as they like to be known as.

Birdfooddirect · 30/03/2022 14:58

You haven't enabled voting.

Why do you follow someone like that, can't imagine being in the least bit interested tbh esp if it makes you feel worse.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 30/03/2022 14:58

YABU
That's literally her job. She will be getting a load of that stuff done for free in exchange for advertising and people don't complain that adverts are tacky and tasteless in the face of the financial crisis or whatever...
If you don't want to watch a load of subliminal advertising, don't watch it, but she's doing nothing wrong IMO.

Sorry, I'm not sure how to do that on the app

I have muted her stories for now. I miss her cleaning tips etc though as it's now all about the house

I still can’t believe people actually care about what these influencers think thus giving them a platform.

She’s giving cleaning tips ffs. Do the masses really need this?

1000yellowdaisies · 30/03/2022 15:00

Hmmm i don't think YABU but that's part of her brand isn't it? The aspirational lifestyle she leads so we all rush out and buy the mrs hinch plastic tat so we can have a bit of that lifestyle...
I do think underfloor heating is incredibly wasteful.

myyellowcar · 30/03/2022 15:01

YABU.

If you get upset by looking at what others have that you don’t, you need to come off social media. It’s literally there to sell to you.

luxxlisbon · 30/03/2022 15:01

YABU although the whole influencer thing is a bit gross the reality is there will always be people worse off then you. Not posting about your house/ renovations/ holidays/ wedding/ life etc because someone else might be struggling is stupid imo.

AgathaOvercome · 30/03/2022 15:03

I don’t have any money issues or worries and I still find her distasteful and she doesn’t come across as a nice or genuine person in general. Just unfollow her rather than mute her - if she loses a lot of followers it might actually impact (although as so many are bots maybe not). She also doesn’t do cleaning tips any more so you’re not missing out there.

KittensTeaAndCake · 30/03/2022 15:04

Same as The Radfords flaunting all their holidays/new cars etc. I do think it's a bit tone deaf in the current climate tbh.

Quitelikeit · 30/03/2022 15:04

Comparison is the thief of joy

Purpleavocado · 30/03/2022 15:05

I unfollowed her once I realised it was making me buy a totally unnecessary amount of products. I think she seems like a nice enough person, but it's all a bit too much.

WildFlowerBees · 30/03/2022 15:09

The word 'influencer' really makes me bristle. I'm not influenced by people using 15 different sponges for cleaning or using copious amounts of Zoflora. I have a mind of my own.

I've had a nose at her Instagram, all that she endorses isn't cruelty free, given she's meant to love her animals so much I find this hypocritical.

Most of these social media types are tone deaf, go about your business op and unfollow. Comparison is the thief of joy and all that.

cheesypasta · 30/03/2022 15:10

What's the issue with underfloor heating being wasteful? Have it in the bathroom and it's great. I would like more of it. But I may be missing something.

seething1234 · 30/03/2022 15:11

YABU. Unfollow. I don't use Instagram because of this very reason. My house is never going to look instagram ready, I'll never be as stylish or have the money influencers have but I'm not going to make myself miserable so i dont following them.

ZaraSizeMedium · 30/03/2022 15:12

You’ve helped put her where she is by being one of her followers and buying into her bullshit brand.

It’s part of being an influencer, to make you all believe she really does care, really loves you, you’re all one big family, blah blah, at one point she was even calling you all her childrens “aunties” Envy

Retrievemysanity · 30/03/2022 15:13

Sorry to hear that you’re struggling. The trouble with what you’ve said though, is that you could apply this to a lot of people. I don’t think people should have to constantly think about others when they post about their lives to be honest otherwise where do you draw the line? Best to come off social media or unfollow if it’s upsetting you.

Fidodidit · 30/03/2022 15:13

I’ve got plenty of advice to give on how to ignore massive fur balls and general filth - would anyone like to hear it?

makinganavalon · 30/03/2022 15:14

I don't know if yabu, I just know I've stopped following her since I stupidly thought it was brilliant to use neat zoflora everywhere as she did and now I'm intolerant to it and if anyone uses it in their house I start coughing!
Now, I realise she prob only uses it once a week for the ad!
So maybe just stop looking? It's not worth it. X

Lampzade · 30/03/2022 15:15

YABU.
That is her job

cherryonthecakes · 30/03/2022 15:17

Yabu - it's her job to get people to buy stuff that she recommends. I'm currently drinking hot tea while wearing lots of layers to save money but be comfortable so I understand where you're coming from but her hiding her wealth won't help me in the slightest. The tradespeople and energy company are welcome to her money.

Unfollow so you don't have to watch this. I wouldn't have had a clue about her life if people didn't comment.

CourgetteSeason · 30/03/2022 15:17

Get over to Tattle Wink

Natra · 30/03/2022 15:18

Yabu, making content is her job if you don't like the content offered, don't watch.
