Mrs Hinch showing off house renovations

ItsMeRhondaFromPS129 · 30/03/2022 14:51

First off, I'd like to say yes I am a bit jealous as I really wish I wasn't worrying and stressing about the increasing heating bills etc. but seeing Mrs Hinch showing off the full downstairs underfloor heating she's having fitted just now is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I'm having a late lunch having some soup and wrapped in a hoodie AND a hoodie blanket as I've had to switch off my heating during the day to save money and keep it at bare minimum in the evenings.

I just feel she should be a bit mindful that loads of her followers might be feeling a bit crap about it with the increase in bills etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's great she can afford to do it and her new house is lovely, but I just think she should be thinking twice about posting updates of all the expensive work she's having done! I have since muted her stories so I can't see them lol!

I'm also curious to know how much the full mutual in Rons room cost lol!

YABU - get a grip, the energy bills crisis is not that big a deal

YANBU - she should maybe think twice before posting.

OP posts:

On the upside OP, you have provided various Mumsnetters with the chance to tell the world that they don't know who Mrs Hinch is, which I can tell has been extremely gratifying for them.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 30/03/2022 17:06

Why does anyone give air time to someone spraying dangerous chemicals around their house and calling it "cleaning"??

OP, keep her muted. She just wants mugs to pay for her toxic and stinky lifestyle.

okayigetit · 30/03/2022 17:07

I'm gonna give you a very soft YABU, I don't like Mrs Hinch and because of that, I don't follow her, now I did used to follow quite a few influencer type people, and I used to moan about them all the time, because they are so out of touch, until I decided that I don't need to follow them, no one is making me follow them, and if they make me feel like crap, I should unfollow them, so I did and now my Instagram is full of stuff that makes me feel good and inspired, rather than cynical and jealous, I'm much happier for it. It also means that I'm not helping to line the pockets of people I don't like!

It really isn't. I mean why would it be? Confused

It's simply a no brainer that if these people cause anyone to think like the OP, then just stop following them. If following these people bring joy then crack on, but why moan about them?

okayigetit · 30/03/2022 17:09

@searchingforsomethiing

I still can’t believe people actually care about what these influencers think thus giving them a platform.

She’s giving cleaning tips ffs. Do the masses really need this?

I never understood the hype around mrs hinch, but my friends all got really into her a few years ago, they bought her books and always spoke about products they got that she recommended etc, pretty boring stuff tbh but one of my friends put up something on her Instagram that was a tip from Mrs hinch and how she had never thought of it before and it was a 'game changer' .. it was literally a to do list 😐
Kuachui · 30/03/2022 17:10

yabu. people should understand that people walk different paths in life and some are very lucky

Octomore · 30/03/2022 17:12

Yeah, this is at a similar level to most of the 'life hacks' that get promoted to me on social media. A mixture of tips that are either blindingly obvious, or totally unnecessary and save no time at all.

I have a to do list on the side of my fridge, but it's definitely not life changing.

LadyHenryofRawlinsonEnd · 30/03/2022 17:16

Why would anyone consume this sort of crap?
What can it do other than lead to 'life comparison porn'?

I honestly can't be arsed what someone else does with their money, time or energy, so long as it isn't harming anyone else. And neither are other people responsible for making me feel better about my own economic situation.

I would probably question why this bothered me, why I might follow other people's lies so closely on social media, and what good it does me, ultimately.
Which would be 'none' Grin

You have a life, go and live it.

LadyHenryofRawlinsonEnd · 30/03/2022 17:17

other people's lives not lies!

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/03/2022 17:20

Are you sure @Octomore? Your world isn’t a better place for that to-do list? 😃 #gamechanger

Bib1234 · 30/03/2022 17:23

She’s a show off 🤷‍♀️ She’s made her money that way - can’t stand her myself

It's all so dull. Really not worth getting upset over. Bin her and find something interesting and less provoking.
BigWoollyJumpers · 30/03/2022 17:28

The thing is though, loads of people are upgrading their houses. It's pretty much on every day on TV as well. One of the reasons (excepting general world supply issues), that you can't get hold of wood, or glass, or bathroom or kitchen fittings, is because everyone is doing something.

I have just done several things, I received an inheritance because my parents died of Covid. Someone may look at me and judge the amount we are doing to our house, but you know, it came at a personal cost.

I suppose the difference is I don't post it on-line. But that's her job, and that's how she makes money. (I would never have known who she was if I wasn't on MN, I have also never actually looked her up, or bought Zoflora, also something I only heard of on MN Grin)

stimpyyouidiot · 30/03/2022 17:29

Influencers are the worst. Unfollow the lot of them so they can stop flogging shit to everyone and showing a totally unattainable life to most people.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 30/03/2022 17:30

to peoples crippled mental health trying to clean their homes like she does - it’s not sustainable for many and makes people feel like crap because their home isn’t as perfectly clean as hers.*

Just shows we're all different then - I find watching her clean and her stories helps motivate me when having a bad day - makes me want to get up and start doing something, even if it's just a little thing it can help

BeeDavis · 30/03/2022 17:31

The sooner people in this world learn to accept that a lot of people are way better off than them, the better!! She is literally doing nothing wrong. What she posts is up to her, people saying it’s ‘tone deaf’ are the ones that are jealous. I’m ridiculously jealous of her 😂😂 but not in the way that i feel absolutely shit of the life I have. I’m perfectly happy with my life but still enjoy her content. Its that simple.

theton · 30/03/2022 17:32

She can afford it because people like you give her views 🤷🏻‍♀️

mizzo · 30/03/2022 17:33

My SIL is obsessed with Mrs Hinch, it's bizarre. She has the same hoover, the cupboard of chemicals, everything in her house is in a basket or a labelled container, she's even called her dog Henry.
She is now been looking at ramshackle old barns with a bit of land so she can live on a 'farm' too.

As far as I can tell Mrs Hinch's 'tips' are either dangerous, bad for the environment, have existed for years or have been pinched from someone else.

JaneJeffer · 30/03/2022 17:35

Be grateful you've got soup and a hoodie blanket and a roof over your head. Some people would envy you!

Beansontoastagain · 30/03/2022 17:36

Yabu. It's awful how a lot of people are struggling with increase in bills but that doesn't mean people can't post their success stories.

BoredZelda · 30/03/2022 17:38

Ridiculous implication that people who can afford things shouldn’t buy things because other people can’t afford things.

Underfloor heating is really economical. I’d love it in our kitchen because the only way we have to heat it is with an electric fan heater which is hugely expensive. I can afford it but am not doing it until we replace the kitchen as it is quite an upheaval to install.

I don’t follow the woman, it’s really easy not to be annoyed by the things she does.

Musmerian · 30/03/2022 17:38

Perhaps save your ire for the Tory government who gave created the shitshow we are living through. Pointless Hinch is neither here nor there.

MrsMiddleMother · 30/03/2022 17:40

Yanbu but she's always been ignorant and unrelatable so just unfollow

IncompleteSenten · 30/03/2022 17:43

She can only afford it because she's made a career out of getting people to watch her.
If people stopped, so would the cash.

Nothappyatwork · 30/03/2022 17:45

I think it is a little bear galling in all honesty that her fucking dog has a better shower room than many families.
