Mrs Hinch showing off house renovations

ItsMeRhondaFromPS129 · 30/03/2022 14:51

First off, I'd like to say yes I am a bit jealous as I really wish I wasn't worrying and stressing about the increasing heating bills etc. but seeing Mrs Hinch showing off the full downstairs underfloor heating she's having fitted just now is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I'm having a late lunch having some soup and wrapped in a hoodie AND a hoodie blanket as I've had to switch off my heating during the day to save money and keep it at bare minimum in the evenings.

I just feel she should be a bit mindful that loads of her followers might be feeling a bit crap about it with the increase in bills etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's great she can afford to do it and her new house is lovely, but I just think she should be thinking twice about posting updates of all the expensive work she's having done! I have since muted her stories so I can't see them lol!

I'm also curious to know how much the full mutual in Rons room cost lol!

YABU - get a grip, the energy bills crisis is not that big a deal

YANBU - she should maybe think twice before posting.

Why are you following that shite?

malificent7 · 30/03/2022 16:38

I think you are being a bit unreasonable but only as she's " aspirational"

Unsureaboutit9 · 30/03/2022 16:40

YABU it’s not inconsiderate, it’s on her stories, nobody has to watch it, and plenty of people like watching it. We struggle financially too, but I don’t begrudge a stranger renovating their new house, our situations just arnt the same.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 30/03/2022 16:42

Don’t watch her. Every click and every view just lines her pockets more

Usingit · 30/03/2022 16:44

YABU for wasting time worrying about crap like that, I just had a look and it looked similar to a spread in Hello magazine, it didn't look the sort of thing that would help with the cleaning.

Papayamya · 30/03/2022 16:44

She's always been braggy, her whole deal is making money off of people by shilling unnecessary and crappy products. She has a background in marketing and the relatable content got her loads of followers, but she doesn't give a shiny shite about them now she can't resist showing off to secure more freebies.

LBFseBrom · 30/03/2022 16:46

Who the heck is Mrs Hinch? I don't know her.

I understand why you feel unhappy about your situation, op, and you're certainly not alone there which isn't much comfort of course.

There's not much point in being jealous, particularly of someone you don't know. There will always be people who have more, that's just life. I don't think they should pretend they don't out of deference to those who are less well off. If Mrs Hinch is some sort of 'influencer', it's her business to show off what she has done or has. I'm oblivious to such people apart from knowing they exist online.

I really hope things improve for you. I don't know where you are but here on the edge of London it's not cold. I turned my heating down earlier. Good weather will come and you'll feel better then.

Goodness knows what is going to happen about the increase in heating costs which I keep hearing about; so many people are facing difficulties because of it. There must be a way that they can be helped. I live on my own now and my bills are not too bad (not being smug, just stating a fact).

Octomore · 30/03/2022 16:48

I'm also at a loss as to how anyone can miss Mrs Hinch's cleaning tips.

This is the woman who advocated putting Zoflora in boiling water and leaving it to fill the room with fumes/vapour, to make your house smell nice.

We used a cleaner who did this and it took hours to clear the toxic stuff from the house afterwards. (Needless to say, we didn't invite her back - I don't want a cleaner that tries to gas me).

Courante · 30/03/2022 16:51

YABU - it is entirely your choice to follow and watch her. I would take this as a sign that her content isn't something you find inspiring/interesting/tasteful at the moment and search for some new accounts that are.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 30/03/2022 16:51

I agree - I actually unfollowed because atm, i find inspirational type instagrammers now just really inappropriate.

Sceptre86 · 30/03/2022 16:52

Yabu, mute her stories or come off social media for a while. There are few mums I follow on insta for their weaning journeys and they often complain about how their bodies aren't what they once were etc. All I see is a women who has a younger baby than mine expressing dismay about her body which is thinner and more toned than mine. I can either use it as motivation or mute their stories, unfollow and get on with my own life. Most people are richer than their followers, they make money through their posts and endorsements and if you don't agree stop following them or don't attempt to copy their lifestyle. I enjoy watching her cleaning tips but I wouldn't want to take decorating advice from her, as her last home was 50shades of great and I like colour. Not sure what her new house is like as I don't follow here.

Mrsjayy · 30/03/2022 16:52

Yes she flung zoflora around like holy water !

Lime37 · 30/03/2022 16:52

Yabu massively so. It is litterally her job to make content about her house. I genuinely don’t understand why you have mugged her and not unfollowed her

Sceptre86 · 30/03/2022 16:52

*follow her even.

sammylady37 · 30/03/2022 16:53

Just unfollow her. You’re part of the problem by following her, giving her an audience/platform etc.

It’s voluntary, if the content upsets you then unfollow. You’re in control.

Your thought process that she shouldn’t post about what she has because others are struggling financially is flawed. It’s like saying that people on here shouldn’t post about their DC because some people are infertile. It’s nonsensical.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 30/03/2022 16:56

I think she’s had her 5 mins of fame. She’s so far removed from what her account started out like.

pupcakes · 30/03/2022 16:57

YABU. Just unfollow her.

LB600 · 30/03/2022 17:00

Omg I literally thought the exact same thing today as the original poster! My following of Mrs H is a throw back from when she lived in a 3 bed house and scrubbed her sink daily.

I’m absolutely all for someone making millions off of bleaching their loo (we’d all do it wouldnt we given half the chance!) and why shouldn’t she do what she’s doing BUT yes, it seems a little tone deaf that all we now see is a complete house refurb without the need to even sell their original house which she seems to keep highlighting.

Damned if you do and damned if you don’t really aren’t you in this respect! But I can see how it irks!

We all know comparison is the thief of joy don’t we!

LittleGwyneth · 30/03/2022 17:01

She is very, very rich, and her job is posting about her life. If you don't want to watch it then unfollow her.

I find it so strange the way people adore influencers, build them up and spend money on their products, and then hate them when they're wealthy and enjoying the fruits of their Instagram labour.

TatianaBis · 30/03/2022 17:01

Is that the woman in suburbia with the ghastly grey house?

Staryflight445 · 30/03/2022 17:01

Following people like this is so toxic.

From dangerous cleaning tips, to peoples crippled mental health trying to clean their homes like she does - it’s not sustainable for many and makes people feel like crap because their home isn’t as perfectly clean as hers.

Stop following, as soon as you do that, and others follow suit these people have nobody to sell to and will drop off the side of the planet.

🤷‍♀️

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/03/2022 17:02

Rich people won’t have to turn their heating down or make lifestyle changes though.

How did this even become a thing though? Did no one clean their house before she started?

I just tidied the en-suite, feel free to send likes 😂

VyeBrator · 30/03/2022 17:04

I just feel she should be a bit mindful that loads of her followers might be feeling a bit crap about it with the increase in bills etc.

Oh give over. I couldn't tell you what Mrs Hinch looked like if I saw her running down the street naked, or any other influencer for that matter.

If following these people is your thing and it's making you feel this way, just stop doing it. Also you've manipulated the voting so it's just as well you didn't manage to enable it. The fact anyone thinks you're unreasonable, does NOT mean the energy bills crisis is not that big a deal.

EnzoArzo · 30/03/2022 17:04

Please do not mute influencers. If you don’t like what they’re posting then unfollow them as they make money based on how many followers they have. All influencers pages are public so you can go look at them without having to follow them if you want to take a quick look.

I don’t follow any influencers as I find their content posts annoying. I just take a quick look at any I’m interested in whenever I feel like it.

However I do find mrs hinch unbelievably fake.

Octomore · 30/03/2022 17:05

Following people like this is so toxic.

Spot on. The following of 'influencers' is negative for both individuals and society in many, many ways.

It's advertising dressed up as sincerity / reality. They are earning their money from followers, but dress the relationship up as a quasi-friendship. The whole thing is a gaslighting headfuck, monetising people's insecurities and aspirations.
