Mrs Hinch showing off house renovations

First off, I'd like to say yes I am a bit jealous as I really wish I wasn't worrying and stressing about the increasing heating bills etc. but seeing Mrs Hinch showing off the full downstairs underfloor heating she's having fitted just now is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I'm having a late lunch having some soup and wrapped in a hoodie AND a hoodie blanket as I've had to switch off my heating during the day to save money and keep it at bare minimum in the evenings.

I just feel she should be a bit mindful that loads of her followers might be feeling a bit crap about it with the increase in bills etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's great she can afford to do it and her new house is lovely, but I just think she should be thinking twice about posting updates of all the expensive work she's having done! I have since muted her stories so I can't see them lol!

I'm also curious to know how much the full mutual in Rons room cost lol!

YABU - get a grip, the energy bills crisis is not that big a deal

YANBU - she should maybe think twice before posting.

I'm not bothered by how much money she or anyone has however I do question her morals. Given so many are facing very difficult financial choices right now how she can in all good conscious try and flog stuff she knows is crap and don't need is beyond me.

Go to tattle life and look for Mrs Hinch thread 500. Make up your own mind based on the evidence there
Eh, no.
Had a wander over to nosey after one of the many Insta threads on here a while back, OMG the threads on there are utterly stalkerish and crazily obsessed!
People with not a hint of irony saying '' ugh, followers are so obsessed with her! '' whilst at the same time obsessively hate watching stories just to bitch about the kids, Hmm her medical history, etc.
Same goes with several Mum Instagrammers too.

thecatsinthecradle · 31/03/2022 20:39

@GoodJanetBadJanet I thought exactly the same until I read that thread 😳

I had a look too and it was really disturbing. It’s people who hate her and are consumed by envy , but who spend large parts of their lives obsessively examining everything single thing she does and speculating on her. It’s really creepy. In that I do feel sorry for her, but I guess it comes with the territory, there will always be unwell people or those with issues who follow you for negative reasons,
jytdtysrht · 31/03/2022 22:58

But doesn’t she make money by posting content online? This is her source of income and she is absolutely entitled to carry on with it. I don’t have Instagram or social media so have never seen any of her stuff. I don’t have underfloor heating but I don’t have a problem with her installing it (in fact I would have thought it would be a real pain in the ass if it went wrong). I just wear croc type things (with socks as I am so cool) and so my feet don’t get cold.
Also she does not need to wade into international/political situations. Just let her get on with her stuff and don’t follow her if you don’t want to.

WeOnlyTalkAboutBruno · 31/03/2022 23:12

I understand OP. I feel like this about Stacey Solomon.

I really do like her. She is incredibly likeable and her kids are adorable and I loved her programme on the BBC.

But I do find her a little…detached from reality these days. With her pool and her mermaid bathroom and her perfect nursery. It is a little tone deaf.

Kanaloa · 31/03/2022 23:24

I mean where does that end? Can no famous celebrity post pictures? Can regular people post holiday pics? If so, why? I haven’t been able to go on holiday for ages because we struggle. Can people post things about their really bright high achieving kids even though I’m so stressed about my son being behind and struggling?

If you’re struggling then a social media break or a mass unfollow is the way to go. Not expecting influencers to not post things you don’t have.

I will say though that I don’t follow any ‘celebs’ specifically because I think they’re out of touch and I don’t want to contribute to their ongoing success. But I also wouldn’t expect them to modify what they’re posting to make me feel better. I mean it would be fake anyway.

Kanaloa · 31/03/2022 23:27

but I just feel she could use her platform more wisely, links for donating to the Ukraine etc.

You obviously already know about ‘the Ukraine’ though? Why would her fake charity make you feel better. Personally when I see influencers asking people to donate I just think ‘easy for you to say. YOU donate.’

Tabitha789 · 31/03/2022 23:35

I think you are a little bit. However for me she's changed some way and I can't put my finger on it. Like with Stacey it's all just still her being real. It's like we've lost Mrs Hinch's personality. Which is why we're finding her distasteful in some ways. She's not connecting like she used too.

mydogsteppedonabee · 12/07/2022 16:02

She's really hanging on by a thread now. She posted a very unrealistic timeline of events this morning, including a postman arriving at 5:30am with a delivery needing signed for.
I assume this was an attempt to come across as more relatable to her followers.
No courier will deliver at that hour and no longer do we sign for deliveries... they just take a pic now for evidence!
I just think she's rinsed so many people through what appears to be dishonesty. Allegedly.

Kedece2410 · 12/07/2022 16:06

You must be watching a different account to me. There's nothing real or sincere about Stacey Solomon

Fairislefandango · 12/07/2022 16:26

YABU. You don't have to watch it. Also, some people can always afford things others can't, whether there is a cost of living crusis or not. If people want to follow influencers who post about how to make frugal meals and spend less, then can. If they want to follow people who live in lovely houses and buy expensive things, they can.

Where do you draw the line with what level of expenditure is insensitive to post about? Pretty much whatever level it is, there will be people who can't afford it, so it seems a bit unreasonable to object to a level that happens to be out of your reach when it probably wouldn't occur to you to complain about something that you could afford but lots of people poorer than you could not.

Of course you could just stop following influencers altogether...

Fairislefandango · 12/07/2022 16:29

It's hilarious that anyone is gullible enough to think much about these people's online personas is 'real'.

CambsAlways · 12/07/2022 17:56

There is always going to be people like mrs hinch promoting things it’s her job, I accept we struggle as do many many others too, it’s a fact of life I’m afraid, to be honest I’m not really bothered what she has in her home or anywhere else, and I don’t lose sleep over it

coolbottlesummer · 14/07/2022 12:37

I can't get worked up about either of them. I love Mrs H's new home and what's she is doing to it. I can't afford it, never will but I don't frown or hate what she has. She's got a good lifestyle. Good for her. Same with SS.

Hereforthekicks · 14/07/2022 12:52

Stop watching her. Then build your own influencer empire that doesn't offend anyone.

Shgytfgtf111 · 14/07/2022 13:02

i havent RTFT but I think what annoys me isnt them having more money than I will ever have but more than as a society we reward people with no real talent who have a instagram account with some cleaning tips on it. Its a strange world we live in.

Changer123 · 14/07/2022 13:23

YANBU

Shes changed definitely, I unfollowed recently because the constant brags, Ads and boring animal posts. I also started to feel uncomfortable with how much she shared about her children, it's not normal to know so much about someone you've never mets child! Poor kids when they get to school, their entire lives have been documented and view by millions of followers

11Hawkins · 14/07/2022 13:24

I stopped watching her ages ago. She's not relevant anymore. If you look at her followers it's mostly bots anyway making up for the fact people are unfollowing her.

She does have a talent. It’s a communication skills talent and ability to influence people and make them follow her. I couldn’t do it. It seems you can’t either. You might not rate it as a talent, but it’s a talent, a skill and it’s well paid. If you can convince people to buy something, total strangers, jist becayse you use it, that’s a skill alright.

If you don't watch her, click on her link or buy her products then she wouldn't make so much money.
As a pp said, this is just a different way of marketing. If it were so easy then there would be more influencers and big brands would stop advertising on tv etc People buy stuff with her name on and watch her content so she will continue to make money doing what she does.

Before anyone asks I only know who she is because people on here snipe at her and I've seen cleaning products (Flash?) with endorsement branding.

You might feel that you clicking the unfollow button might make little difference but if everybody who felt like you did that then she wouldn't be as "powerful" as she is.

I wholly agree on the use of children in influencing is highly immoral. I don't mean children who work and have protected income in the bank. I mean parents who use their children as tools to make money and may not see the benefits. I can imagine morally dubious parents bribing them emotionally with holidays and products that their siblings and parents will miss out on if they don't participate.

Isn't her entire brand all about show home style fantasy?

Sounds like the equivalent of a salesman who needs to drive a flashy car to show how good he is at making money.

Shgytfgtf111 · 14/07/2022 14:47

Mmm perhaps they do have some talent, I know they created a lot of accounts on instagram at the start to see which one took off so when she does her whole 'Oh I dont know how this happened to little old me!' act, its totally fake.

I think my issue is more that I resent people who post a few photos on instagram making millions out of it when the truely important people in our society arent remotely recognised. I dont think I am explaining myself well but I know what I mean!
