To think that Kier Starmer is spineless?

LittleWhingingWoman · 29/03/2022 19:06

I'm a long time Labour supporter.
Not anymore.
Kier Starmer was asked if women have penises.
He couldn't answer.

I've had enough of this gaslighting.
How can I vote for a party that is led by this man?
How, in 2022, can a candidate who hopes to be pm not be able to say what a woman is?

AIBU to think he knows FULL WELL what a woman is but is too much of a coward to say. The men threatening and bullying Rosie Duffield certainly know what a woman is.

And I know a penis when I see one.

Sorry my phone autocorrects his name from Keir to Kier.
Not that it matters - a man by any other name....

Why have you linked to his twitter? Is there an article somewhere? I don't really want to Google keir starmer penis

FiftyWaysToWinInDenver · 29/03/2022 19:10

YANBU. Even if you don’t care about this issue you are right it’s spineless. If he can’t stand firm on this how will he stand up on the world stage against a leader or country?

fiftiesmum · 29/03/2022 19:10

Well Boris certainly knows what a woman is.

ilovebencooper · 29/03/2022 19:11

Totally agree. I can't vote for them whilst they continue this embarrassing charade in order to dog whistle to the mens rights activists.

OatcakeCravings · 29/03/2022 19:11

YANBU

See also David Lammy who said that Transwomen (ie biological men) could grow a cervix.

Absolute fuckwits the lot of them.

Also expect your post be moved to the sex and gender board because you are not allowed to speak of this anywhere else on Mumsnet.

over2021 · 29/03/2022 19:12

This is one of many reasons why I no longer support the Labour Party.

Sunflower987 · 29/03/2022 19:13

@over2021

This is one of many reasons why I no longer support the Labour Party.
Me too.
Whatinthelord · 29/03/2022 19:16

Regardless of your opinions re what a woman is. What we want is politician who actually take a stance and not avoid taking a stance because they know that whatever they say will be controversial to someone.

ZaraSizeMedium · 29/03/2022 19:18

The man is a total blancmange, completely unelectable, can you imagine - the other world leaders would eat him for breakfast.

KatsuKatsu · 29/03/2022 19:18

I agree, this isn't really a sit on the fence question for a leading politician.
AgnesNaismith · 29/03/2022 19:19

YANBU and to PP…what a woman is is not an opinion, it is a biological fact.

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 29/03/2022 19:21

YANBU. I'm a natural Labour voter and I will spoil my ballot paper rather than vote for them. Fucking idiots.

Except Rosie Duffield, who has more ovaries (and sense) than the rest of them put together.

SweatyChamoisPad · 29/03/2022 19:21

I feel politically homeless - I’ve always voted, even in tiny local elections. I’m pretty devastated to be honest.

Sorry, I thought it linked to the LBC video. Definitely don't google Keir Starmer penis. Although how would you know what a penis is if Sir Keir can't define one? Grin

Even people don't care about the gender issue, these sort of answers just makes them look stupid.

Imagine the generic man or woman on the street that has no idea about the clash between women's rights and trans issues and they hear someone that wants to run the country say this sort of thing. It certainly won't look good to outsiders.

OatcakeCravings · 29/03/2022 19:24

A woman is an adult human female, end of, it’s not an opinion it’s a fact.

Why can’t people say factually that there are two sexes - male and female, they are immutable you cannot change your sex. However there are many different genders that people identify into, you can buy into that or think it’s a load of bobbins all you want. And then you can get into the arguments of single sex spaces/services/sports etc and who should be allowed into them etc.

Palladin · 29/03/2022 19:25

YANBU

Ionsion · 29/03/2022 19:25

They will give the election away to the Tory’s if they don’t get their act together over this

HermioneWeasley · 29/03/2022 19:25

I don’t understand why he’s making himself look ludicrous. Nobody thinks women have a penis.

gamerchick · 29/03/2022 19:26

Yeah he's been a big disappointment that one.

KatsuKatsu · 29/03/2022 19:26

I agree - he's supposed to be really intelligent - surely he can manage to negotiate this apparent minefield?

the80sweregreat · 29/03/2022 19:29

It was a deeply embarrassing interview with the radio host Nick Ferrari on lbc ( the only interview I've heard about this subject with him ) and I could hear his brain working through the radio ' what can I say here ?'
I can see why people are so upset about this , and I agree he is spineless.
The LP could do with a new leader who takes a stand on these issues because it is becoming deeply damaging and will stop people voting Labour. They need to make their position clear and stop trying to please everyone ( and no one )

CheekyMaw · 29/03/2022 19:29

An utter drip ! And Rayner as well. Almost like they don't want to be in power ...
