To think that Kier Starmer is spineless?

LittleWhingingWoman · 29/03/2022 19:06

I'm a long time Labour supporter.
Not anymore.
Kier Starmer was asked if women have penises.
He couldn't answer.

I've had enough of this gaslighting.
How can I vote for a party that is led by this man?
How, in 2022, can a candidate who hopes to be pm not be able to say what a woman is?

AIBU to think he knows FULL WELL what a woman is but is too much of a coward to say. The men threatening and bullying Rosie Duffield certainly know what a woman is.

And I know a penis when I see one.

And now, weirdly, are trying to find a biological proof for gender identity which, if ever found, must be held up as gospel while the far more overwhelming proof of sex is made out to be nothing significant.

I think (hope) that sensible people will ultimately see this for the utter nonsense that it is. Any arguments I've ever seen on this are more flimsy than a pack of cards.

So I am very cautiously optimistic that when these arguments are scrutinised properly, as they're starting to be, then the tide will slowly turn.

God bless those who have withstood the appalling bullying and threats to speak the truth thus far.

Swayingpalmtrees · 31/03/2022 12:07

I think we have allowed this to continue and balloon into something dangerous, and it is time we simply said no. It all stops now.

You can't use our toilets, changing rooms and spaces. No we will not allow you to erode at our identity with revolting labels such as chest feeders or cervix havers. You will not strip out our dignity, take over our sports and brainwash our children.

There is no easy way out - we need to be clear and concise. We are taking back our rights, we are taking back our voices and you do not get to 'shape' who and what we are. There is not a fucking chance any man would put up with any of this, so why are we?

We need to shout a lot louder. Otherwise we will be railroaded by the #bekind brigade and silenced.

Swayingpalmtrees · 31/03/2022 12:09

We owe so much to women like JK Rowling and others. She will go down in history now for more than her amazing books and films and imagination.

Alexandra2001 · 31/03/2022 12:10

@TheKeatingFive

I think we have to be stronger as society. No it is not okay for you to put thousands, perhaps millions of women and girls at risk because you want full access. End of.

Exactly. They need to be told no.

We can't just pretend it's possible to change sex or make out that it doesn't matter. There is ample evidence already of the problems this causes (also, facts of biology).

If they don't want to be in men's sex defined spaces, they need to campaign for their own. I'd be supportive of that - not making women's sex defined spaces less safe for women.

Labour via Racheal Reeves have said today exactly that.

i.e Biology matters, women's spaces have to stay as women only spaces and its not ok to ask everyone going for a scan if they are pregnant.

'bout bloody time too

Absolutely and agree re JKR who has led the way on this and received huge personal backlash.

We need more clarity still. Labour hedging bets to a large degree with a mash up. Blair is right they need to get it together with clarity.

It would need to be in electoral promises too, eg around future policy and what will not be introduced. Not sure if it would be enough though as they’ve gone in so strongly on original position.

TheKeatingFive · 31/03/2022 12:24

What I didn't realise, before reading it on here, is that there is specific provision in the GRA for estates entailed in the male line. They are exempted from the act in that females can't self identify as male to usurp their brothers in the line of succession.

So men have already protected themselves from the one small way in which they could be disadvantaged by this.

Given that, it's absolutely disgusting that women are being asked to hand over their own rights and #bekind.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 31/03/2022 12:29

Isn't there a religious provision as well about women not identifying into being bishops or something?

Swayingpalmtrees · 31/03/2022 12:31

No man has ever suffered from this new movement, so why should they care? They made a few tweaks to protect themselves and shrugged their shoulders and swallowed the narrative.

Many men do care passionately about this subject, and understand it well, sadly they are not the ones making the laws or the big decisions. Which is why it is so so infuriating to have Keir Starmer failing us so spectacularly. And he is not the only one. No major party is showing any leadership on our human rights/protection/right to life.

This will be a key battle ground for the elections next year, lets hope they wake up and see what is at stake.

TheKeatingFive · 31/03/2022 12:31

That's sounds entirely plausible.

The more you look into it, it's an absolute stitch up.

Absolutely! The word 'woman' is taken. The word 'lesbian' is taken. These are our words and they relate to adult human females. Stop mangling our definitions and invading our spaces, our prizes, our sport, our privacy. How did we get to a point in the UK 2022 when Ed Davey can say there should be no spaces women can go that biological men can't follow? I know this is about Keir Starmer but I will never forget how chilled I felt on hearing that. This in a supposedly liberal society? NO places where women can congregate alone? Including spaces such as rape counselling centres.

Fuck off Keir Starmer. Fuck off Ed Davey. We are NOT accepting this.

Swayingpalmtrees · 31/03/2022 12:37

Transmen do not endanger men in any way that is why there is so much disparity. Transmen can't outrun Usain Bolt nor render male sports obsolete. They as a whole do not rape men once transition has taken place. They won't call the average man a 'sperm carrier' just because they by and large can't ejaculate. They don't scavenge around the urinals and insist it is theirs.

We have this unique problem, not men, and yet again we are having to shout to be heard to simply have a bloody toilet. It is insane. It is unfair and it is deeply disturbing to have this inflicted on us without proper consultation or care for our safety.

Swayingpalmtrees · 31/03/2022 12:42

We need to have a vocal committed female PM that is going to stand up to these bullies. That is my conclusion. One that introduces compulsory 50% equality in the commons, in the boardrooms and everywhere else.

One that stops the rot when it comes to our rights, and is not afraid to say so clearly and concisely. Who cares about our maternity hospitals, our wage equality, that stands up to the activists and says no can do. One that does not shrink away from the hard questions.

I can't see Keir Starmer doing anything but make things even worse for us. Ed Davey is a lost cause and not worth talking about.
And don't even get me started on Boris!

Think its dawning on those around him that policy needs to change, Reeves seems to be leading on this....

Await their manifesto.

And don't even get me started on Boris!

Yep biggest Misogynist going, having that many children from so many failed relationships, shows what his attitudes are.

@Swayingpalmtrees

Tony Blair has waded in now telling the LP that they need to get clarity on this issue immediately.

Rachel Reeves on R4 at 8am this morning when asked if she knew what a woman was, she said 'most women share biological similarities. Some 'people' are born in the wrong bodies and may not have the same biological similarities' she did to her credit offer to detail those similarities should any of us not know that women have breasts and vaginas et al.
Michelle declined to obtain a list but there does appear to be a softening, a change in tone after the Keir car crash. I think we are starting to see a rowing back - a slight detection and chink of light.

It is hard to believe in 2022 we are even having this conversation. Even in repressed states like Saudi, they are allowed to be called women and have private areas to use the loo and change. It is quite unreal that we are here at all.

Nobody is 'born in the wrong body' as per UK Government education guidance.

Grin I hope someone can! We badly need this intervention of sanity.!

Crcohetmonster · 31/03/2022 14:26

How can someone be born in the wrong body? Do they not realise how stupid that sounds?

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 31/03/2022 14:32

It's an absolutely ridiculous mess they've got themselves into but I still rather vote for Keir Starmer, even if he doesn't know how to tell if I'm a man or woman, than that utter fuckwit who's currently wasting the air in Number 10.

Agreed. Gender woo types get very upset when you ask them about this. They all seem to have done one poxy philosophy module in first year of uni, latched onto Cartesian dualism and it's the only thing they remember. Truly lollers

They have chosen to retain their male privilege, to ensure that they don't actually drop down to the lowly position occupied by women. Says it all.

jcyclops · 31/03/2022 14:53

Starmer was campaigning in Bury for local elections this morning, and according to him, electing a Labour council in Bury will result in a windfall tax on oil and gas companies. I was wondering if a Labour council in Bury would also ensure peace in Ukraine and Yemen, freedom for the uighurs and rohingyas and an end to the climate crisis. It is not just his spine that is made of jelly, his head is full of it.

Andante57 · 31/03/2022 15:18

freedom for the uighurs

Good luck getting support for the Uighurs from the Labour Party.

I saw him being interview on LBC. I think he might be a robot. He has the personality of air.
