To be pissed off at DH - After holiday

batsmaf · 27/03/2022 21:39

We get home from a city break. I always strip the bed before a trip. So i make the bed and DH puts the disgusting suitcase on it!

I'm not a germaphobe just an average person that likes a clean house, but come on! It's common sense, its been on a filthy plane, in bathrooms, dragged around numerous cities, now all of that is on our lovely fresh bedding!

That excitement of getting into a clean bed after a good scrub off the holiday shower is now tainted

YABU. This wouldn't even cross my mind as an issue and I am not a slattern.

AddictedToVinted · 27/03/2022 21:44

This wouldn't even enter my head to think about. Muddy shoes, maybe but a suitcase, no I wouldn't care

HMSSophia · 27/03/2022 21:44

You sleep inside the bed cover and he presumably put the case down on the outside cover. YABU

RedskyThisNight · 27/03/2022 21:44

Surely the suitcase is on top of the blankets/duvet and not the bit you will actually come into contact with when you are in bed, though?

This is not something I'd even thought about before I read your post. We unpack onto the bed when we get back from holiday too; not something that would remotely bother me.

VyeBrator · 27/03/2022 21:45

Couldn't get fussed about it tbh.

BurntEnds · 27/03/2022 21:45

I agree it's grim. Same as people who put their handbags on the table they are about to eat off

Springhassprung86 · 27/03/2022 21:46

YABU and weird.

Aprilx · 27/03/2022 21:46

Fairly normal to put suitcase on the bed I thought.

ZenKaleidoscope · 27/03/2022 21:46

I'm not a germaphobe

It seems like you are.

monkeysox · 27/03/2022 21:46

Yanbu I agree it's grim.

Hercisback · 27/03/2022 21:47

Every day is a school day on MN.

gerispringer · 27/03/2022 21:47

Put a blanket or throw over the clean bedding. I have a patchwork quilt which I put on top of the bedding during the day and when we go away as the cat likes to sleep on the bed. I fold it up when we go to bed.

Oops I do that. I need to get my glasses out to read the menu and they've always dropped to the bottom..
bert3400 · 27/03/2022 21:49

And with the hand bag on the table...well I eat my dinner off a plate not the table Confused

Chilesstanton · 27/03/2022 21:49

Could not get worked up about this

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/03/2022 21:51

Did you have a nice break? You seem quite tense.

Newnamefor2022 · 27/03/2022 21:51

Total non issue. Yabu

PiratePetespajamas · 27/03/2022 21:51

YANBU. Gross. I’d be annoyed (also don’t sit on the bed in clothes I’ve been travelling in; but I AM a germaphobe Grin). Probably not so torn up about it I’d post on Mumsnet but I’d still grumble and be cross for a few minutes.

gerispringer · 27/03/2022 21:51

I read an article about bedbugs which stated that one way they get into your house is via suitcases which have been sitting in a hotel room for several days. So maybe the OP is onto something.

eldora · 27/03/2022 21:52

YANBU, OP, the amount of faecal matter that is now on the bed is staggering!

What an idiot.

Does he ever change the bedding? Maybe if he washed/dried/folded and remade the bed, he’s have more care.

MossyBottom · 27/03/2022 21:52

I would never put a suitcase on a bed unless I'd given it a wipe down first. I only do that when I get the cases out of the loft to pack.
It's a bit like putting your handbag on the floor in a public place. Or is that just me?Grin

ENoeuf · 27/03/2022 21:53

I’m with you op, when it’s a wheeled case. The idea of the wheels having gone though pee, poo, mud etc and then on the bed is gross.

Wartywart · 27/03/2022 21:53

I'm confused about the handbags? Surely the fact that you eat off the plate, using cutlery, means that your handbag, which may or may not be absolutely filthy, does not contaminate your food?

LoudingVoice · 27/03/2022 21:53

@BurntEnds

I agree it's grim. Same as people who put their handbags on the table they are about to eat off
It has never in my life occurred to me not to do that Grin

Oh well, it’s apparently not killed me or anyone else, not something I’ll lose sleep over.
