To be pissed off at DH - After holiday

batsmaf · 27/03/2022 21:39

We get home from a city break. I always strip the bed before a trip. So i make the bed and DH puts the disgusting suitcase on it!

I'm not a germaphobe just an average person that likes a clean house, but come on! It's common sense, its been on a filthy plane, in bathrooms, dragged around numerous cities, now all of that is on our lovely fresh bedding!

That excitement of getting into a clean bed after a good scrub off the holiday shower is now tainted

I remember reading somewhere that suitcases on beds is the way that bed bugs get transferred.
They jump aboard from the hotel bed, cling on round the cities and on the plane and then jump off onto your bed at home!!
Am aware this may not make you feel any better about the situation. But it is the reason why my suitcases stay on the floor.

BurntEnds · 27/03/2022 21:54

The bottom of handbags is covered in shit.

LoudingVoice · 27/03/2022 21:55

@eldora

YANBU, OP, the amount of faecal matter that is now on the bed is staggering!

What an idiot.

Does he ever change the bedding? Maybe if he washed/dried/folded and remade the bed, he’s have more care.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not Confused

Where do you think this case has actually been?? Grin

PinkSyCo · 27/03/2022 21:57

Glad it’s not just me that finds it rank when people throw their suitcases on to their beds. Even if the bedding isn’t freshly changed I think it’s grim. YANBU.

Wartywart · 27/03/2022 21:57

@BurntEnds

The bottom of handbags is covered in shit.
Where is the shit from though? When using a public loo, does one not either hang the handbag from the hook in the cubicle, or if no hook, put the handbag strap round one's neck as one hovers over the loo seat?
TabithaHazel · 27/03/2022 21:58

I could understand if he put the suitcase on your pillow, but that doesn't sound like that was the case, your bedding beneath the duvet is still fresh and clean!

BurntEnds · 27/03/2022 21:59

When was the last time you cleaned the bottom of your handbag.

Momicrone · 27/03/2022 22:01

Never think about stuff like that, also never get ill, I don't understand obsessing about germs, even having lived through a pandemic

Lucky you. I have a compromised immune system.
Chippingin2 · 27/03/2022 22:05

YANBU - fucking gross. Tell me he doesn't put shoes on the table too? Confused

batsmaf · 27/03/2022 22:05

It was on the inside of the bedding and sheet. If it was the outside i wouldnt mind as much

Well it's interesting you ask that, because I always buy fabric type handbags - canvas etc - so that they can be washed in the machine. Don't like the idea of ones I can't wash. Unhygienic. 🤮
BurntEnds · 27/03/2022 22:07

That's even worse.

Yeah same, stuff like this goes straight over my head but I’m also never ill so it’s not something I’ll start concerning myself about now.
NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/03/2022 22:07

Top Tip: make the bed before you leave so it's clean and ready for you to get into after your shower next time. Far more relaxing.

BurntEnds · 27/03/2022 22:08

Well it's interesting you ask that, because I always buy fabric type handbags - canvas etc - so that they can be washed in the machine. Don't like the idea of ones I can't wash. Unhygienic then you can put it on the table without fear. I may take your lead.

Ylvamoon · 27/03/2022 22:08

And I thought germs were a good thing.

Don't they help build the immune system?

LoudingVoice · 27/03/2022 22:08

So he pulled back the duvet then put the suitcase down? Why?
Monty27 · 27/03/2022 22:09

When my sister or any members of her face come back from somewhere the suitcases including the contents are held in the garage and she washes everything in them and the suitcases before anything is allowed inside the house.
She's a germaphobe and insect phobic.
I get it but I don't do it myself.
In fact going through security in an airport she will have plastic liners for the trays for their stuff because the trays have had other people's stuff on there.
Exhausting.

VashtaNerada · 27/03/2022 22:10

I would hate that too!! YANBU.

TellySavalashairbrush · 27/03/2022 22:10

I’d hate this too. The thought of the suitcase wheels sliding over airport floors, gathering germs from inside the plane and then being dumped on my bed 🤮

batsmaf · 27/03/2022 22:10

I did consider that. But i also like the idea of the mattress pillows and duvet being free from cover, something about breathing. God i think i am a germaphobe LOL
OP posts:
HellToTheNope · 27/03/2022 22:11

I totally get it. Thank fuck my husband thinks like this, too.

batsmaf · 27/03/2022 22:11

@LoudingVoice no i made the bed but folded the duvet back. I always do this, so we can get in then pull covers over us

OP posts:
RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 27/03/2022 22:12

YANBU I’m exactly the same. Even with the cover on the bed. The suitcase has been all over various streets, airport floors, toilets… I don’t want that on my bed.
