Why do people insist on smoking in doorways!?

If you want to go into a shop or a pub why is it acceptable to get blasted in the face with second hand smoke?

You go to a CHILDREN’S play park where you'll find groups of parents smoking....
School gates....

Really weirdly I can’t actually remember the last time I saw someone smoking. Maybe cos I don’t go out to clubs etc anymore but I definitely haven’t noticed people smoking in doorways / in play parks etc.

I am a smoker and was gob smacked to see a mum smoking in our local play park the other day while pushing her child on the swings.
I don't let my child ever see me smoke so when he was asking to go on the swings I didn't want to be pushing into a cloud of her smoke so had to say no.

That said OP, some smokers are just arseholes just like some non-smokers.

In their own homes then? Does it have to be in the doorways of shops?

If there was a total ban on smoking, there would be a HUGE tax loss which you, OP, and all the other moaners would have to cover. You'll probably post another time about your kid wasn't invited to a party, somebody seemed to be drunk within a ten mile radius of you, your neighbours' baby three streets away was crying too loud when yours was having the afternoon nap and fireworks on Bonfire Night! I agree OP. I also hate when you’re walking down a street and the person in front of you is smoking and you just have to breathe it in for ages. I know it’s personal choice but honestly I find it completely and utterly revolting.

Never been a smoker, I quite like the smell of fresh fag smoke though some sort of odd scent switch was flicked during one of my pregnancies...

I find the number of young adults who smoke quite surprising, but perhaps its because they've grown up seeing their parents smoke?

YANBU it’s revolting and really should be banned in playgrounds.

DS goes to swimming lessons at a school and every week without fail this Dad lights up as soon as he has dropped off his child while walking off the school campus. Why not just wait the 30 seconds to actually be off the campus so those of us and our kids who haven’t yet dropped off don’t have to smell it? Vile vile vile.

I'm an occasional/social smoker and I hate having a walk through a cloud of smoke to get in a shop. People often smoke right outside the supermarket doors and it's gross.

Just how often do you come across this problem? I hardly ever notice anyone smoking anymore, a few people outside pubs maybe, it's not exactly a widespread issue.
