Why do people insist on smoking in doorways!?

If you want to go into a shop or a pub why is it acceptable to get blasted in the face with second hand smoke?

You go to a CHILDREN’S play park where you'll find groups of parents smoking....
School gates....

I mean Really!!!!

Because its outside?? You say school gates, so they our following the rules by not smoking on the premises. They are smoking outside of pubs so following the rules. Tbh I'd be more worried about the pollution of cars/lorries. How dare parents smoke in an outdoor place! You are basically judging them as parents for smoking. I hope you've never consumed alcohol infront of your child or a chocolate bar. You're encouraging obesity & alcoholism 🤔😒 And I say this as a non smoker!

Just how often do you come across this problem? I hardly ever notice anyone smoking anymore, a few people outside pubs maybe, it's not exactly a widespread issue.

There big class difference in how many people smoke. When I lived in a deprived area almost everybody smoked. Maybe that's the case for OP?

I have a list of things similar which annoy me ever so slightly such as Vans/lorries parking outside my house and crying babies on airplanes. Regardless of how much it niggles me, I know they're still entitled to do so, so I get over it. I'd say this is up there with those, can annoy you, but also nothing you can do about it.

I couldn’t give a shit if anyone chooses to smoke, that’s on them. I do care if they choose to spark up in a doorway or in a play park because it’s antisocial and rank. As is sitting with your engine idling, picking your nose in a cafe and spraying perfume on a train.

This is part of why I read here. As a foreigner, I find it fascinating. Our indoor smoking bans include a radius around doorways and windows. It never even occurred to me someplace wouldn’t bother adding such a simple provision.

I smoked outside a hospital when I was told I had lost my baby. I didn't give a fuck about signs etc. I was told on the day Boris had a party on my own that my baby was dead.

So sorry. It would take a real bastard to begrudge you a cigarette that day. 💐

I’d imagine it’s the same type of person who smokes in a doorway/play park that would also park in a parent and child parking space, because ‘it’s not illegal and everyone has the same rights’ argument. Both selfish and inconsiderate.

Hardly anyone smokes outside in my area although I can smell weed right now while I’m lying in bed and that really pisses me off!

I like the smell of cigarette smoke though….I used to hate it but I miss it now and I miss the more relaxed, less policed times.

It's a filthy habit, that makes you smell and then inflict that stink on others (being caught in a lift with someone who's just had a smoke, smokers breath when they're talking to you 🤢)

well im a fully functioning adult smoker who contributes to society by working , im sure many other smokers are too , but apparently we are all useless non functioning bums who dont aid society at all according to what you have just said , oh and apparently we dont have any purpose either ,il have to ask my family and friends if they feel that way about me ,, im pretty sure they dont
