Found a black hair grip …

DH is at work, I’m in the middle of a deep clean. Whilst I was hoovering I found in the corner of the bedroom, kind of camouflaged into the carpet a black hair grip/Bobby pin whatever they’re called.
I’m blonde and have always been blonde, my kids are toddlers so do not use hair grips. No one else has been in our bedroom that would explain it.
I’ve also been away all week with the kids.

Aibu to be suspicious??? I’m also pregnant so know I don’t think rationally sometimes atm

Is from someone who lived in the house before you?

speakout · 11/03/2022 10:22

Did you lay the carpet?
Any guests staying in that room?
Do you have any other reasons for mistrust your OH?

speakout · 11/03/2022 10:23

I haven't voted because there isn't enough information.

LampLighter414 · 11/03/2022 10:23

Sounds like it could have fallen out during a sexual encounter in the bedroom to me

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/03/2022 10:23

I'm not sure I'd jump to conclusions over a Bobby pin, those things get everywhere. Come the apocalypse there'll just be them and the cockroaches left.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/03/2022 10:23

Do you mean like those thin black slide in things?

There's always one Grin
GettingStuffed · 11/03/2022 10:24

Was the carpet there when you moved in?

LampLighter414 · 11/03/2022 10:24

Could he be having an affair OP?

Gizacluethen · 11/03/2022 10:24

God its so hard with hair pins. It could have been there 10 years, it could have fallen through the matrix, someone dropped in 200 mile away, could have sworn they heard it hit the floor and it disappeared only to turn up in your bedroom. Or someone was there last week.

Do you have any reason not to trust him?

This. They're like glitter, just end up everywhere.

This is what I came on to say. I haven’t worn them in years but I find the odd one occasionally.
Itsnotover · 11/03/2022 10:25

The fact that you’ve been away all week and then this hair pin shows up would make me suspicious.

Agree with this, really depends on how long you've been living there and how much of a stickler for clean you are...

Those bloody things get everywhere. I wouldnt give it a second thought.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/03/2022 10:26

I still occasionally find pine needles when I’m deep cleaning. Been here 12 years now and have an artificial tree.
Really wouldn’t jump to conclusions (unless there’s history).

Comedycook · 11/03/2022 10:27

How long have you lived there...is it the carpet from the previous owner?

SheWoreYellow · 11/03/2022 10:28

Do you often hoover that area and did you lay the carpet?

If yes and yes I’d be keeping my eye out I think.

It’s possibly just fallen off a jumper that picked it up on the bus though so don’t panic yet.

eleanoreleanoreleanor · 11/03/2022 10:31

Has a hairdresser ever put your hair up? I'm blonde and mine used loads of different coloured ones for my wedding.
They do get everywhere!

Gonnagetgoing · 11/03/2022 10:34

I'd be wondering if either of you have friends/relatives with these and they might have got attached to clothes.

DM and her DM (my nana) when alive used to use these and I'd sometimes find them in my house share and then my then flat and I'd be a bit Shock as I rarely used them! I think sometimes they got attached to clothes.

Hadenoughofbloodycovid · 11/03/2022 10:36

They’re called Kirby grips.

Thatswhyimacat · 11/03/2022 10:36

I had a whole pack of those pins that have magically disappeared one by one, I assume the next owners of my flat will be finding them for years, or they've dropped through a vortex to your house.

CoffeeCakeChill · 11/03/2022 10:37

Have you ever had a friend round for a party or before a night out.... these are my calling card i have them falling out pockets and bags constantly haha but never had energetic sex with a married man who isnt married to me
