How often to change bra????

267 replies

braminger · 19/02/2022 22:47

Ok full confession.

I change my knickers,socks,t shirts and leggings daily.

Dresses,jumpers, trousers every few days.

Cardies, jeans and pjs about once a week.

Yet
I never keep track of how long my bra is on. I'd guess between 5 and 15 days yet it's as close to my skin as socks!! AIBU??

Being clean is having to smell your clothes before you decide they need to be washed?? That’s your standard of hygiene? It’s another world on here, it really is…

LuckyAmy1986 · 20/02/2022 17:53

@mmgirish fair enough! Smile

LuckyAmy1986 · 20/02/2022 17:56

@whitewashing see you say that but I find it just as bizarre some of the intense (to me) cleaning rituals some people have. So so pampered and terrified of the tiniest bit of dirt. MUST have a clean towel every single time etc. I mean, it’s astounding. Think about how people across the world live, how many homeless people there are and people living in poverty or in some cases even without clean water. And then people here can’t even make a towel stretch for two baths/showers. Come on, that’s another bloody world.

Letsbekindplease · 20/02/2022 17:57

I change socks pants daily
Pjs every 2/3 days
Leggings, T-shirts and most other things every 2 days someone just once
Bras… I must admit, I can sometimes wear them for a week without changing them. They never smell so I suppose o get away with it. Still a bit grim leaving it so long though lol

Doratheexploret · 20/02/2022 17:59

Every day. I’m menopausal so constantly sweaty. I have about 30 😂

Doratheexploret · 20/02/2022 18:01

@LowlandLucky

Why do some women own so few bras? I would never just have 3 or 4 pairs of knickers so why have only 3 or 4 bras ? I change underwear once a day and if i am going out in the evening i would change then as well.
Thats weird to me too. I’m busty so bras are expensive but I still have loads. Some are new, some are 5 years old.

This. It boggles my mind.

RampantIvy · 20/02/2022 18:16

Every day when I used to wear one. I would find that it got dirty under my armpits

My bras are nowhere near my armpits.

Definitely and we take our endless water supply for granted

What's wrong with sniffing your clothes anyway?

OrganisedChaos22 · 20/02/2022 18:19

Daily everything except jeans is daily. Jeans is 2 days.

TicTacHoh · 20/02/2022 18:19

Every day

Where I live we currently have too much water, with many flood warnings in place. Probably due to global warming caused by over fastidious mumsnetters washing clothes too frequently.

turnaroundtime · 20/02/2022 18:23

People who are repulsed at the idea of rewearing a bra must wash their bedding daily too; imagine rolling your head on dribbled on pillowcases and your body on pre-slept on sheets😱. MN is full of people claiming those who don't wash them hourly are filthy and those who insist if you do wash often must have some horrible body odour issues. People are so predictable. If it's not what they do they have to try to shame the other person. Grow up

eldora · 20/02/2022 18:28

I shudder to imagine the electricity bills with all this washing.

Our electricity bill is £35pm, helped by not washing clothes unnecessarily.

Svara · 20/02/2022 18:35

I don't understand why jeans would need washing after only two days, unless you slip over in the mud.

I can’t do very much about any of that unfortunately, I never said I couldn’t make a towel last for two showers, I did point out I couldn’t use the same one for two weeks…luckily, I don’t live in poverty, I do have plentiful clean water so therefore, I will carry on as I am and not have to sniff my clothes before wearing them to know whether they’re clean or not. I’ve never found basic hygiene to be an intense cleaning ritual at all.

user1487194234 · 20/02/2022 18:58

Clean bra on every day

LuckyAmy1986 · 20/02/2022 18:59

@whitewashing some people. I didn’t say you

It also makes me shudder for the environment. One of my relatives who lives alone puts her washing machine on daily with a half load (or not even that tbh) of whatever she's worn that day plus towels, I find it really excessive.

I agree - it's mind boggling just how ridiculous this all is. I hope none of those pampered types ever get caught up in a natural disaster where there might not be access to clean water (let alone working toilets!) - they simply won't cope! I can't help but wonder how people got to this state.

Whatever.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 20/02/2022 19:22

@cheekychaplin

You wash your bras daily?? How many do you own? I have 4 !

3 at the moment I wear but I don't see any issue with putting them in the wash - they don't take up must space in a load of washing that's going on anyway.

I only do one wash a week!

OP, I'm pretty much the same as you, although I do wear t shirts twice.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 20/02/2022 19:22

@whitewashing your ideas of basic hygiene are massively off what basic hygiene is though

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 20/02/2022 19:35

Always cold, tiny tits…basically my bras get washed when I realise I haven’t washed them in a while. It’s never been an issue.

Levi’s actually recommend you don’t wash jeans too often as there is no need! www.levi.com/US/en_US/blog/article/the-definitive-guide-to-denim/

DieSchottin93 · 20/02/2022 19:39

About once a week. But I have a really awkward size (technically a 26 band but they are basically impossible to find) so only have about 2 that fit OK just now Sad. I don't bother with bras when I'm not at work and I have a desk job so I can't say I get particularly sweaty when I wear a bra.
