How often to change bra????

braminger · 19/02/2022 22:47

Ok full confession.

I change my knickers, socks,t shirts and leggings daily.

Dresses,jumpers, trousers every few days.

Cardies, jeans and pjs about once a week.

Yet
I never keep track of how long my bra is on. I'd guess between 5 and 15 days yet it's as close to my skin as socks!! AIBU??

I wear a clean bra every day after my shower

phishy · 19/02/2022 22:51

YANBU. You probably don’t sweat much. Everyone is different, some need a new bra every day some don’t.

Pinchofnom · 19/02/2022 22:54

Daily

5 days, just about okay, but any longer, it must smell surely?! I change mine after every shower.

titchy · 19/02/2022 22:57

Havent worn one in two years Grin

babybouncer · 19/02/2022 22:59

Think this really depends on how many bras you own and how you wash them and how expensive they are. Expensive and underwired, so needing hand washing - not going to change daily - or at the other extreme inexpensive (so have several) and not underwired so v easy to throw in washing pile - why not change daily? Think there’s bound to be a lot of variation here!

Glowinglights · 19/02/2022 22:59

5/6 days for a bra - but sport bras washed after every use.
Not a very sweaty person when not exercising, but also really prefer 2 of my bras so hardly wear the other ones I have!

3 at the moment I wear but I don't see any issue with putting them in the wash - they don't take up must space in a load of washing that's going on anyway.

Blossom64265 · 19/02/2022 23:00

Daily. I get rashes if I don’t.

I’m also a rare size so my bras are ridiculously expensive. Having enough in rotation to do something as simple as wash once a week or even take a one week holiday is very expensive, but a necessity.

TricolourCat · 19/02/2022 23:00

Two days if a cotton Boody bralet in winter daily in warmer weather after exercise

Trunumber · 19/02/2022 23:01

Never ask a question about cleanliness on Mumsnet. It's the cleanest place I've ever known .

Susu49 · 19/02/2022 23:01

Twice a day. Obviously.

WingingItSince1973 · 19/02/2022 23:01

Change bras every other day. I wear 2 pairs of knickers a day. Always put a clean pair on for sleeping.

Miranda79 · 19/02/2022 23:02

Daily. I mostly hand wash mine in the shower rather than put them in the machine so they last longer.

nightwakingmoon · 19/02/2022 23:03

Depends on you and your body really. Before I had my daughter I could wear one for ages and it wouldn’t smell or seem unclean. Never even thought about it! Post baby though my norks are massive, and if I’m not careful I get sweat rash underneath so I have to change my bras often or they get sweaty. I think I normally wear them a couple of times before washing but on rotation so they hang up to air in between wears.

worriedatthemoment · 19/02/2022 23:03

Every couple of days more if i think its needed

Undertheoldlindentree · 19/02/2022 23:03

Clean everything, every day.

NeverChange · 19/02/2022 23:03

Daily. All underwear changed daily. Minimum.

RampantIvy · 19/02/2022 23:04

I don't sweat in that area unless it is 30 degrees, so I change mine every 3 days.

stayathomer · 19/02/2022 23:05

They were recommending onthe radio it gets done daily as you sweat under your boobs almost as much as under your arms apparently. The two presenters laughed about it, there were saying they did it every three to four days. Personally I'd assume your bras would be in an awful state shape wise if you washed them daily but I am not a laundry queen so I think it's just me being cautious!!

cuno · 19/02/2022 23:06

I always thought it was bad to wash bras often as it will damage them and they won't last long. As long as the bra doesn't smell, it's fine. I don't wear bras but when I used to, I'd wear the same bra for a few days. To be honest, even when I wore bras I wasn't very committed to them so would wear one bra for the week, but for a couple of those days I would be braless anyway.

LuckyAmy1986 · 19/02/2022 23:06

Less often than you OP!

Flowersandhearts · 19/02/2022 23:08

Most days, occasionally every other day. I shower twice a day and apply deodorant under my (large) bust.

You're more likely to get fungal infections if you change it less frequently than once every three days.

Notanotherwindow · 19/02/2022 23:08

15 days is a bit gross. I considered myself a bit of a minger only changing it twice a week.
