How often to change bra????

braminger · 19/02/2022 22:47

Ok full confession.

I change my knickers, socks,t shirts and leggings daily.

Dresses,jumpers, trousers every few days.

Cardies, jeans and pjs about once a week.

Yet
I never keep track of how long my bra is on. I'd guess between 5 and 15 days yet it's as close to my skin as socks!! AIBU??

Daily. I get itchy if I don't.

wishing3 · 19/02/2022 23:45

Ha-not read the full thread but solidarity to you OP. I too seem to have a different base level for washing bras. They don’t t smell though!

BogRollBOGOF · 19/02/2022 23:54

Sports bras get one or two uses depending on the sweat level of the activity.
Normal bras get re-worn and sniff-tested. They're often worn for part of the day after a post-run/ workout shower.
I'm small enough not to get much boob sweat in normal conditions, but a size that is not abundant in a world where a 32" back is alledgedly small, but in reality not small enough.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 19/02/2022 23:56

I don't understand people claiming that they don't sweat under their boobs, so wear the same bra for days on end. Unless I am doing physical exercise, I don't sweat anywhere particularly, but I don't keep wearing t-shirts or socks day after day. Do the people who don't change their bra apply the same rule to other clothes? Bras are in closer contact than most other clothing, so pick up dead skin cells/bacteria.

AdoraBell · 19/02/2022 23:57

Daily.

Didioverstep · 20/02/2022 00:02

Why are bras so expensive? Its ridiculous that most women can only afford to buy a few. I only have 3

It's no different to wearing a pair of jeans for 3 days IMO. I'm not as fastidious as you, and I don't sweat in my bras.

T shirts have contact with armpits. Socks have contact with feet. Both are smelly (for most people).
TheBitterBoy · 20/02/2022 00:07

I buy my bras with three pairs of matching knickers, and once there are no more matching ones in the drawer, the bra goes in the wash. So three days.

CharacterForming · 20/02/2022 00:08

Gosh that's organised BitterBoy. I'm genuinely impressed.

Gwenhwyfar · 20/02/2022 00:08

They never smell. They don't go around the armpit.

gogohm · 20/02/2022 00:09

Every 3 or 4 days. I have 5 or 6 every day type bras plus some uncomfortable lingerie

Gwenhwyfar · 20/02/2022 00:11

"Do the people who don't change their bra apply the same rule to other clothes?"

Yes. I do not change any clothes unless they are dirty as it would be wasteful.
Knickers, socks and tights are dirty after one wear. Tops get a sniff, but definitely don't need washing after just one wear unless in a heat wave. Clothes only washed if dirty.
The exception are my slippers. They are dirty, but I can't wash them because the machine ruined my last pairs. I'd be grateful for suggestions.

Why wear knickers for sleeping? Creating washing Grin

gogohm · 20/02/2022 00:14

@Didioverstep

They don't have to be - I bought a new one this week for £6 from sainsburys. E cup so the bigger person range.

MissMaple82 · 20/02/2022 00:19

When your bras cost 40-50 quid a pop you can't afford to wear new daily. Probably about a week or so. But I change into my "house bra" when I get in. Soft, stretchy thing.

MissMaple82 · 20/02/2022 00:21

Cheap bras are NOT comfortable when you have a bigger bust. I would never buy a £6 bra! Ever!

Yes same rules. Socks, bras, t-shirts, trousers, skirts, dresses all get aired for a day (minimum) after each wear and washed when they start to smell. As I produce a lot of discharge underwear gets washed daily and so I have mountains of these.
heyitsthistle · 20/02/2022 00:26

Best part of a week, for me, unless I get milk everywhere (currently BFing)

TheChosenTwo · 20/02/2022 00:32

I have 3 on rotation throughout the week, I take one off in the evening and it goes on a hanger in my wardrobe and the next day I’ll wear a different one, so roughly two days a week but not one day after the next. They get washed at the weekend! My bras are a standard size and I can buy them in any shop, they cost roughly £30 a bra so not madly pricey - wearing them twice a week and washing them weekly does not seem to kill them off particularly quickly, I’d say I probably get a couple of years out of them at a rough guess.

ChickenStripper · 20/02/2022 00:38

15 days oh god 🤮🤮🤮

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/02/2022 00:39

About every 3 or 4 days but I can't be sure

friendlycat · 20/02/2022 00:51

Daily. But all clothes are fresh daily.

MrsPsmalls · 20/02/2022 00:53

Every day of course, like a normal person. Expense is no excuse. You only need 2/3 if you hand wash in the shower every time you take a shower you will always have one ready for the next day.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/02/2022 01:04

I wear bralets Monday and Tuesday to WFH, off on a Wednesday, in work Thursdays and Fridays and wear a proper bra, then off Saturday and Sunday. I tend to wear a fresh one each day unless eg today just out for lunch and then into lounge wear. That bra went back in the drawer.
