If you have not done today's Wordle 9/2/22 Read no further you have been warned!!!

*Semi lighthearted.

What do you think am I being unreasonable for thinking the 5 letter word choice for today is controversial. The creator of the game is apparently English and it has a co.uk address.

UK based should use UK spellings I agree, I got it but it irked me greatly

IsolaPribby · 09/02/2022 06:27

I agree! I guessed it on my final go, but did wonder if they really would use that spelling!
I was not amused Grin

Donatella · 09/02/2022 06:27

Wordle 235 3/6

⬜⬜🟨🟨⬜
⬜⬜🟨🟨🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

He might be English (hadn't heard that though) but as far as I know he lives in America and created the game for his partner, who may be American. Not sure about the domain name but maybe they have different ones for the different languages? Either way, I can't get worked out about it, I'm sure there are far more users of American English than British English worldwide.

Flatandhappy · 09/02/2022 06:28

I got it in four as my reasoning with the letters I already had made it the only choice but I did hesitate 😁

DrSbaitso · 09/02/2022 06:29

It's established that Wordle uses American spellings. This wasn't the first time.

DorisFlies · 09/02/2022 06:33

Yes, I did it in 3 because I'd recalled the hoohaa over American spellings last time

theDudesmummy · 09/02/2022 06:34

I got it too but also a bit annoyed. I suppose now at least we know...

PicaK · 09/02/2022 06:36

I'm pissed off cos I didn't get it.

Glenthebattleostrich · 09/02/2022 06:37

glad i spotted the thread, keep forgetting about American spellings!!!

milkjetmum · 09/02/2022 06:39

It has upset me this morning! SadWink

Glitterkitten24 · 09/02/2022 06:45

I didn’t get it, and was not amused! 😡

Goatinthegarden · 09/02/2022 06:46

My brother text me at 5:30am and told me today’s Wordle would upset me.

He was right (but it did make it easier to guess the right answer because I assumed it would be an ‘incorrect’ spelling).

WanderingLost167 · 09/02/2022 06:46

Same, hesitated but went with it just in case... And frankly mind was pretty blank at 6 am after been woken by cats

Maggiesgirl · 09/02/2022 06:47

I only got it because I remembered it was US spelling from one before. My DB and Bfriend do it with me everyday, I have warned them.

Piggywaspushed · 09/02/2022 06:48

It is the second time that pattern has occurred so I was ready for it. But, yeah, you have to know that it's US variant spellings. The fact that it is going to the NY Times is the clue.

NannyR · 09/02/2022 06:51

It annoyed me too, I lost my winning streak this morning, because that spelling/word just didn't occur to me.

ComDummings · 09/02/2022 06:52

I’m used to word games online or apps having US spellings so it didn’t bother me, although it did take me slightly longer than it should have today Grin

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 09/02/2022 06:53

I didn’t know it used American spellings, so yes I was upset this morning.

OutlookStalking · 09/02/2022 06:54

It REALLY bothered me!

cookiemonster2468 · 09/02/2022 06:54

Wordle has used American spellings before.

As long as you know them it's fine. The creator lives in the US.

theDudesmummy · 09/02/2022 06:55

I see James Wardle is from Brooklyn though (I hadn't been aware of that before) so I guess it is to be expected and I shouldn't have been annoyed at all! I only started playing recently.

AnotherMansCause · 09/02/2022 06:57

Hasn't this already been established though, that it uses American spellings rather than British? I've only been playing 9 days so didn't see the last one but I've heard about it.

UmbilicusProfundus · 09/02/2022 07:00

Reading your title, I assumed the word would be TRANS…

Nosetickle · 09/02/2022 07:01

Yes! I got it in three today but had no idea they used US spellings so when I typed in the word it is I was very surprised when it was correct!

flindorama · 09/02/2022 07:02

I've just done it. Got it in 5. But I don't understand, unless I'm day behind you all,
as that's the UK spelling as far as I know. Am I missing something?
