If you have not done today's Wordle 9/2/22 Read no further you have been warned!!!

*Semi lighthearted.

What do you think am I being unreasonable for thinking the 5 letter word choice for today is controversial. The creator of the game is apparently English and it has a co.uk address.

It irritates me too but have also found American spellings on Wordle Unlimited so wasn't surprised

EarringsandLipstick · 09/02/2022 11:08

Didn't annoy me, as we had this issue a few weeks ago. That being said, the thread title alone alerted me to the possibility so I perhaps wouldn't have got it otherwise (and may have been annoyed!)

JacketOnTheHook · 09/02/2022 11:11

@Madcats

Wretched thing took me 5 goes today; I nearly lost it!

I'm usually more of a 3 or 4 goes sort of person.

Have you lot tried Mathler.com? It's using 6 digits or +*-/ to equal their number.

Oh god. Now I have another daily thing to add onto my list to do! I just tried it and love it, thank you!
NellyDElephant · 09/02/2022 11:27

Another one here - fuming at 0630 this morning! I got it on 6th attempt - after remembering the uproar over the previous 'incorrect' spelling.
Why can't we just have English words on the uk version? #notfair #humph

Anonymouseposter · 09/02/2022 11:37

Annoying-got it in four but only because I was rearranging and trying random letters that were left over.

amusedbush · 09/02/2022 11:43

I got it in four but I had seen a post on facebook from a friend annoyed about the American spelling so I went in prepared for it Grin

Isis1981uk · 09/02/2022 11:55

I finally got on go 5 as I'd previously dismissed it as an option, for obvious reasons! Definitely not right!

Somuddled · 09/02/2022 12:15

@OverByYer

Agree I didn’t get it until guess 6. It was not funny. (See what I did there?)
Grin Well thanks. I just did a little chuckle in an otherwise silent break room and got funny looks!
ODFOx · 09/02/2022 12:34

It is an English word!
It isn't funny. It's blood and bile.

HaveringWavering · 09/02/2022 12:51

@JacketOnTheHook try Nerdle too. My friend built it (with credit to Wordle for inspiration of course).

Be wise it’s not “the U.K. version”. There is no such thing.
Darley368 · 09/02/2022 13:08

Got it in four and it was a stroke of luck that my first word placed the U After I tried HUMAN it had to be HUMOR but I was definitely miffed. Can we have English Wordle?

Imnoteatingthat · 09/02/2022 13:17

Having seen someone post on Facebook “great, another American wordle”, I ended up getting it in 2. Good for my stats but I feel like I cheated.

WalkingTalking · 09/02/2022 13:20

I assumed it was as in Hippocrates and his 4 humors.

Same here. When I read the title of the thread, I suspected an American spelling. I got it in four.
Rococococo · 09/02/2022 13:32

I don’t mind the American spellings but it throws me right off when they use the same letter twice in the word 🤯

Comocomida · 09/02/2022 13:39

Yes! I got it on the fifth try but I already had four correct letters (three in the correct position) and still couldn't work out what it was so made a guess and was surprised when it was correct.

Excellent thank you! I will go try it.
I have started a mathler thread if anyone is interested (in chat)

Yabu I don't even do this but I know it was created in the US and is now owned by the NYTimes and therefore is going to use US spellings ... its like picking up a wordsearch printed in Spain and complaining all of words are Spanish!

Yes, that's so annoying!
gunnerside · 09/02/2022 17:14

I got it and was livid. Could have got it before but could not believe my logic
New York Times - here we come

ErrolTheDragon · 09/02/2022 18:42

I'm genuinely amazed at some of the hyperbolic reactions in this thread. 'Livid', 'fuming'- seriously? Confused Fgs don't extend your word games to The Times Polygon puzzle - they allow all sorts of spelling variations so long as they're in their specified dictionary, your heads might explode!Grin

bobbleb · 09/02/2022 19:36

I completely agree OP. Had I not cheated and asked my sister for endless clues I would have lost my streak.
