To think Camilla should not be crowned Queen

I know there are other threads on this but I thought it would be interesting to get a vote. Seems most people are in favour. I'm not

I find it impossible to vote - I'm a republican so I don't believe anyone should be crowned anything; however if we can't get rid of the RF, Camilla, by the standards of the RF, is a reasonable option as Queen.

Yabu there are plenty of historical examples of King's marrying their mistresses and them being named Queen consort. Whilst Dianas death was a tragedy it wasn't camillas fault. They don't use the Princess of Wales title out of deference to her but Queen consort was never associated with her.

@lockdownlard because the title king outranks a queen. Therefore if a queen monarchs husband was titled king he'd out rank her. A rediculous historic hangover but it is what if is

Because, rightly or wrongly, the title "king" is above the title of Queen, so he would have been ranked higher than the Queen. Which he wasn't.

I think it’s to do with tradition and ‘king’ outranking ‘queen’ with the queen being the head of the monarchy the next ranking would be prince.

I’ve really never understood the vitriol directed at Camilla. Charles and Diana were both unfaithful and they were in a miserable marriage which everyone around them knew had become a sham. It wasn’t as if Camilla seduced a man away from his innocent and blissfully happy wife who thought she had the perfect marriage and husband.

Frankly I doubt either Charles or Camilla are much interested in whether they get called King or Queen, despite this odd view in the media that Charles is desperate for his time to come. I expect they’d both rather be pottering around doing their own thing.

Queen consort - not the same thing as Queen.

HRH Prince Phillip wasnt King - he was consort to the Queen.
Plenty of other examples.

I'm no particular fan of the royal family but I think she does some positive things and see no reason for her not to be Queen Consort.

If Charles is king, she's his consort. I can't see the issue myself, it's just the reality of the situation.

If it’s ok for Charles to be King I don’t know why she should be Queen! She certainly hasn’t done anything wrong that he hasn’t! Or that her own ex husband didn’t, come to that.

Charles should have been allowed to marry her in the first place. It would have solved a lot of heartache all round.

Camilla didn't want to marry Charles back then. She was in love with Andrew Parker-Bowles - she married Andrew Parker-Bowles.

I haven't watched it, but I suspect this narrative of Charles and Camilla being prevented from marrying in the early 70s emanates purely from 'The Crown'.
