To think Camilla should not be crowned Queen

I know there are other threads on this but I thought it would be interesting to get a vote. Seems most people are in favour. I'm not

Camilla should already be able to use her rightful title of Princess of Wales. Since she will be consort of the King she shouldn’t be denied another title because of faux sentiment for a publicity hungry woman who died 25 years ago because she didn’t wear a seatbelt.

NightfeedsandNetflix · 06/02/2022 04:42

@Chichimcgee

I expect they’d both rather be pottering around doing their own thing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he abdicated to William

@Lockdownlard

But prince Philip was never King Philip? What’s the difference?
The last time a King Phillip married an English queen it wasn't a popular move and didn't end well.
Lolamento · 06/02/2022 05:11

There you have your votes.

I really don’t get the love for Diana.

She knew Charles didn’t love her, I don’t believe for one second that she didn’t.

They both cheated on each other, and when they divorced Charles remained true to Camila while Diana shagged any man who would have her, including other women’s husbands.

It’s interesting that people say Kate knew what she was getting into and craved it, but somehow Diana was some poor little innocent.

Diana was shrewd. She knew what she was doing, she knew how to manipulate, and she manipulated her way into being some kind of favoured little princess.

She was no saint.

So Charles and Camilla had an affair. Big deal. Given they’re still together over 40 years on I think it’s safe to say that it wasn’t just some kind of cheap shag. As opposed to Diana and Will carling….

Matters of the heart are never easy...

PC was being pushed to find a womb donor/supplier, Camilla had married someone else and had children to that arrangement, Diana grew up in an environment where she was expected to find a suitable husband and was way too young and inexperienced to understand the full implications and PC clearly had no long term inclination to assist her to settle in and grow into a role that supported the monarchy and them as a family.

At the end of the day, if the Princes of C & D are happy with their family arrangement, then what will be will be.

Personally, I would like to see Catherine be able to step up more than Camilla but also believe Camilla despite her initial friendship interfering, has done her bit to try and prove her place in the system.

I doubt she did it for any glory. Who would want someone to say they would like to be your tampon? Skin crawl for all of us...

GrammarTeacher · 06/02/2022 06:01

Why the heck not? She's married to Charles. She's his consort. He's not the first member of the royal family to remarry. It's why the CofE started in the first place!

Ifailed · 06/02/2022 06:27

Does that mean she'll be on the stamps?

UnsuitableHat · 06/02/2022 06:37

As others have said, it’s not the public’s choice or something ‘deserved’ by an individual - we have a hereditary monarchy. Camilla will be the wife of the King. You could campaign for the abolition of monarchy if you don’t like what all of this represents.

sammylady37 · 06/02/2022 06:39

@StrawberryPot

I’ve really never understood the vitriol directed at Camilla.

She was shagging Charles before and during his marriage to Diana. It didn't just start when Charles and Diana began to drift apart.

Camilla also knew that Charles loved her not Diana, but did nothing to stop the very young, naive Diana from marrying a man she thought loved her.

Isn’t it funny how the majority of the vitriol is directed at Camilla and not Charles? No acknowledgement in the above post that Charles was cheating and having an affair, it’s ‘Camilla was shagging him’. And presumably Charles himself knew he didn’t truly love Diana, yet Camilla is blamed for not stopping the marriage.

Misogyny, eh.

Marmite27 · 06/02/2022 06:48

@Ifailed

Does that mean she'll be on the stamps?
No, that would be Charles, the actual monarch.
FlapsInTheWind · 06/02/2022 06:56

I think the pair of them are unbearable. PC calling himself the head of the church when he was continuing to shag his ex while married. I agree Diana was no saint but she was treated like absolute shit by the pair of them. I see them as two very weak people with zero morals.

Flowersandbread · 06/02/2022 07:00

I think Camilla works very hard for the Royal family and does a lot off good work. I think the hate towards her is misguided.

The only problem with that is most of our monarchs have behaved disgracefully. If we have a monarchy then we can't pick and choose who becomes monarch, it doesn't work that way. If we have a king then his wife is queen consort and that is that.
toastofthetown · 06/02/2022 07:11

Of course she should be Queen if she’s married to the king. Not being able to choose who is representing our country is a central part of the monarchy.

SunshineOnKeith · 06/02/2022 07:15

@Viviennemary
Why?

Abigail12345654321 · 06/02/2022 07:18

@couldhavenotcouldof22

I say that as an Irish republican from a proud Irish republican family but wtf are you doing? This rich crowd of blood suckers are mugging you off and you're allowing it to happen? They don't give a fuck about you or your country. They're making as much money as they can..
Same reason most of the population of Ireland rush out to wave their flags and dawn over them every time they set foot in Ireland. Because they enjoy it.

Yabu for using the term ‘proud Irish republican family’ as the Irish republic is irrelevant to any discussion about the British monarchy. If you were from a British republican family you might have some traction there.

Abigail12345654321 · 06/02/2022 07:18

*fawn not dawn

Darbs76 · 06/02/2022 07:20

Prince Phillip was never king as that title would have made him appear more important than the Queen. For Charles being male it’s fine to have a Queen consort. I have no strong feelings either way, she’s his wife. It’s a long time since Diana died and let’s face it that marriage was doomed from day 1. Charles clearly always loved Camilla but she wasn’t accepted back then and so he ended up marrying a young virgin Diana. Things have moved on, Charles clearly loves her and I don’t think the majority of the public feel strongly either way

Joystir59 · 06/02/2022 07:20

Who gives a shit what she's called? She is part of an outdated institution that needs to come off the public purse and fade away.

LoudSnoringDog · 06/02/2022 07:22

I really like Camilla. She looks warm and fun.
It makes no real difference to anyone's life here really does it? If she is or isn't consort? What difference does it really make.

FourChimneys · 06/02/2022 07:22

I can't bring myself to care one way or the other.

AuntyJanet · 06/02/2022 07:22

If he’s the King, then his wife is Queen. That’s the way it works.

Having said that, I don’t really give a shit one way or the other.

Maireas · 06/02/2022 07:24

@Ifailed

Does that mean she'll be on the stamps?
No. The monarch only. Unless it's some special commemorative stamp.
SpiderinaWingMirror · 06/02/2022 07:26

Jeez, surely the world has moved on?
He is going to be King. She is his wife. I just don't see the issue?
His first wife divorced then died nearly a quarter of a century ago.
His sons seemingly approved of the marriage.
Literally what is there to care about?
