To think Camilla should not be crowned Queen

I know there are other threads on this but I thought it would be interesting to get a vote. Seems most people are in favour. I'm not

I think @sammylady37 has named the OPs problem accurately - misogyny.

If you can accept Charles being King you can accept Camilla as Queen Consort.

The whole thing with Charles and Diana was over quarter of a century ago. That strangers to them hold a grudge over their relationship and its ending is baffling. It's like folk who bang on about us being on the winning side of a war that ended more than 75 years ago - true but a lot has happened since then which also matters.

WinnieTheW0rm · 06/02/2022 08:00

Everything possible to protect her position and income, and acquire more. Including hosting Jeffrey Epstein at Balmoral

Did she host him? I thought the Duke took GM there when HMQ wasn't in residence

Figgygal · 06/02/2022 08:00

So you start the thread but give no explanation as to your stance?
Come on op do tell us why you hold this view?

What bloody difference will it have that shes called queen consort?

EdenFlower · 06/02/2022 08:01

She absolutely should be Queen. Not only will she be the wife of the King, she has more than proved herself worthy of the title in my opinion. In fact. I think this whole country would be better off if the Royal Family still ruled the land and ran the country- they ay have their share scandals like Kings and Queens through the ages, but I'd trust Charles to do a better nd more honest job than any of the current set of politicians we have to pick from!!

NativityDreaming · 06/02/2022 08:04

Do away with the RF, they are damn tedious. Time for them to get off benefits and start earning a living.

SquirrelG · 06/02/2022 08:05

I think the pair of them are unbearable. PC calling himself the head of the church when he was continuing to shag his ex while married. I agree Diana was no saint but she was treated like absolute shit by the pair of them. I see them as two very weak people with zero morals.

And what about Diana's morals? You can't have one rule for some and another for others.

@couldhavenotcouldof22 - really nothing to do with you, is it?

thedancingbear · 06/02/2022 08:06

Diana was the queen of her hearts, gawd bless her

MrsTrumpton · 06/02/2022 08:09

The “she wronged Diana” narrative really needs to be put to bed now. It’s ancient history and so tedious, especially when you consider her two sons moved on years ago. Frankly I think Camilla has more than proved herself with her charity work for literacy and endless ribbon cutting - I’m sure she’d much rather be spending her twilight years feet up with a hefty gin and a fag but she’s instead committed herself to the drudgery and relentlessness of being a working Royal. She deserves the promotion for that alone. Plus, Queen Consort is not the same as Queen.

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 06/02/2022 08:12

@DreamTheMoors

For years I was sympathetic to Diana and angry at both Camilla and Charles. Or more, “angry on Diana’s behalf.”

I’ve put away childish things now. Camilla will be wife of The King.
Besides, hasn’t Charles been determined for quite some time and hasn’t Her Majesty given her blessing?
What’s good enough for HMTQ is good enough for me.

This sums up my thoughts too, my feelings over the years since Diana died have changed, I can now see that the relationship between Charles and Diana was doomed from the start and the true love story was always between Charles and Camilla. My anger is now directed more at the advisers who pressurised Charles into making the decisions he did. I think it is good that The Queen has done this, although those too young to remember the Diana years might not understand why it is necessary these threads show that there are still some people who are against Camilla, the Queen making her wishes known will hopefully pave the way to make things easier for Charles and Camilla when the day finally comes.
GalesThisMorning · 06/02/2022 08:13

How does the royal family ever end? I've lived in Britain for a long time but I'm not British, and this question has been on my mind ever since watching the crown!

What triggers the end of it? Presumably we are not of the heads on stakes era, so how will it end?

I’m with you, DreamtheMoors. I was very sympathetic to Diana back in the day - and still am, she evidently had many flaws but she was a very damaged person, both before and because of her marriage.

But as PP have said, this was all a long time ago now, her children seem supportive of Camilla (though outsiders never really know stepfamily dynamics, I suppose) and Camilla generally seems hardworking and good for Charles/the RF.

rofl. Abandon Hope all ye who enter the United Kingdom. Where the serfs are so brainwashed they thought Boris was ever an option and that a hereditary landgrabber with even less leadership ability and integrity should be in charge.

Charles honest, right ok. Where shall we start with his list of dodgy friends?

NotThisWeekSatan · 06/02/2022 08:16

Agree with you too *Cheescakesunflowers, we were typing simultaneously!

CandlesBlanketsandTea · 06/02/2022 08:16

@HilaryThorpe

So just out of interest, do the people who think Camilla should not have the title of Queen also think that second wives should not be allowed to take their husband's name? Should they all be banned or just those who were the OW?
I don't think anyone should take their husbands name, it's out dated and frankly a throw back to when women were seen as chattel.
CandlesBlanketsandTea · 06/02/2022 08:17

I always thought that she was going to be Princess Consort and not Queen Consort? Frankly I think the royal family should end with this Queen.

DeadButDelicious · 06/02/2022 08:18

Charles will be King therefore Camilla will be Queen Consort. Because that's how royalty works.

Prince Phillip wasn't King because Kings outrank Queens. Because sexism that's how royalty works.

We can't 'skip straight to William' because that is not how royalty works. You don't get to pick and choose.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 06/02/2022 08:19

08:05SquirrelG

FGS Diana wasn't the future head of the church. Charles will hold that title when he becomes king.

That people think that someone like PC is fit to hold the title of head of the church, and that it's OK for Camilla to be his consort really explains why Boris is still in power. It seems we as a nation are used to people in power being lying, self-serving hypocrites. It seems those traits are expected and rewarded.

I'm sure that Camilla is a scream and that she and PC love each other very much but that's not the point.

And for background I am the biggest republican and atheist you could find.

Bambooshoot · 06/02/2022 08:20

I don’t think he should be king, therefore I agree she should not be queen (I’ve nothing against her personally mind, just can’t abide Charles). Hope he does the honourable thing for once and abdicates.

sammylady37 · 06/02/2022 08:23

Same reason most of the population of Ireland rush out to wave their flags and dawn over them every time they set foot in Ireland. Because they enjoy it

‘Most of the population of Ireland’ do this? Really?
Bullshit.

BigGreen · 06/02/2022 08:23

Honestly after the Prince Andrew thing I'm in favour of abolishing them. There are few to admire in our current royal family.

Pyewhacket · 06/02/2022 08:24

Diana Spencer was a highly privileged, rather dim, international clothes horse who seemed unable to use the common sense she was born with plus she's been dead nearly 25 years. The world moved on years ago OP. Perhaps you should too.

NoJaffaCakesAreKeptInThisVan · 06/02/2022 08:25

Their relationship has never sat right with me and I don’t think Prince Charles should be king. Going on his brother’s behaviour, that generation have outdated attitudes and not a true representation of how younger men and women hopefully are nowadays and how women should be treated by men.

I’d much rather Prince William.

ivykaty44 · 06/02/2022 08:25

We don’t get to choose as we have a monarchy and not a president- so we either get rid of the monarchy or we have to lump it as we don’t get a say in who rules us

luckylavender · 06/02/2022 08:26

She was always going to be Queen Consort, whether she used the title or not. She's Princess of Wales now.

I almost though it was satirical. One thing I find incredibly peculiar about the brits is that they're just so subservient to the ruling class. It truly baffles me. France is a whole different league.
